The usual reason is that the enemies or reward source do not qualify—or that a qualifying chance simply failed. Digital Extremes’ Update 32 notes say Riven Slivers can drop from Eximus enemies only when they are level 30 or higher, with a listed 2% chance for both regular and Steel Path Eximus. A qualifying kill can therefore produce no Sliver. Requiem Relics are another source, and Update 43 also identifies Steel Path Railjack Eximus as a source.

What has to happen for an Eximus to drop a Riven Sliver?
There are two separate conditions: the enemy must be an eligible Eximus, and the random drop roll must succeed.

Update 32 states that Riven Slivers still have a chance to drop from Eximus enemies level 30 and over. Eximus below level 30 do not receive that Sliver chance, even though they have the Eximus designation. Check the actual enemy level in the mission rather than assuming that every Eximus qualifies.
#1 Best Overall
This requirement applies to the regular Eximus route and to Steel Path Eximus. A low-level Eximus mission is not a slower farm; it is an ineligible one under the published rule.
The chance is 2% per eligible Eximus
The same update lists a 2% chance for regular Eximus and a 2% chance for Steel Path Eximus. That is a roll for each eligible enemy, not a guarantee for a mission, a squad, or a fixed number of kills. Most individual eligible kills will not produce a Sliver.
As a probability illustration, a 2% per-enemy chance has an average of one successful drop per 50 eligible opportunities, but the average is not a threshold. You can receive one early, or go through many eligible kills without one.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

If you kill only a handful of eligible Eximus, getting zero Slivers is the expected outcome more often than not. The result also depends on how many of the enemies you killed were actually level 30 or higher Eximus; ordinary enemies and lower-level Eximus do not add eligible rolls. A mission completion screen cannot turn an ineligible kill into a qualifying one.
Check your run before assuming the drop system is broken
- Identify the enemy type. Confirm that the enemies you killed were Eximus, not ordinary units or another special enemy category.
- Verify the level. Confirm that those Eximus were level 30 or above. Update 32’s wording is explicit that lower-level Eximus do not have the Riven Sliver chance.
- Count eligible opportunities. Estimate how many level-30-plus Eximus you actually defeated. Your total kill count is not the same as your eligible Eximus count.
- Separate a missed roll from a missing reward. A 2% chance can fail repeatedly without indicating an account problem.
- Check the activity’s current drop information. Warframe’s loot systems can change with patches. If your mission or mode was changed in a later update, use the current in-game information and the latest official patch notes.
The title alone cannot establish which of these conditions applied to your account. Without the mission, enemy levels, enemy type and number of eligible kills, no one can diagnose a specific run as a bug.
Current ways to obtain Riven Slivers
| Route | What must be true | Published chance | Practical implication |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular Eximus | The enemy is Eximus and level 30 or higher | 2% per eligible Eximus, listed in Update 32 | Every eligible kill can miss; lower-level Eximus do not qualify |
| Steel Path Eximus | The enemy is Steel Path Eximus and level 30 or higher | 2% per eligible Eximus, listed in Update 32 | Steel Path does not make each eligible roll guaranteed |
| Requiem Relics | Open a current Requiem Relic that includes Slivers in its reward structure | Not stated in the cited official material | Do not infer a rate from the Eximus percentage |
| Steel Path Railjack Eximus | Defeat Eximus enemies in Steel Path Railjack | Not stated in Update 43’s cited passage | Update 43 confirms a chance, but not a comparable numeric rate |
Warframe’s official Mods Guide names Eximus enemies and Requiem Relics as common Sliver sources. The guide also explains that Palladino sells a Riven weekly for Slivers.
Requiem Relics changed, so old farming guides can mislead you
What Update 42 changed
Update 42 removed Requiem I, Requiem II, Requiem III and Requiem IV from drop tables and introduced the Requiem Eterna Relic. It also moved the retired Requiem Relics to Palladino’s wares, where they can be exchanged for Slivers.
That means a guide telling you to farm one of the old four relic types may describe the previous relic pool, not the current one. Requiem Relics remain identified as a Sliver route in the official Mods Guide, but the specific relic names and availability matter.
Rank #2
How to use relic advice safely
- Check the publication date of the guide.
- Look for Requiem Eterna if the guide predates Update 42 and lists only Requiem I–IV.
- Confirm the relic’s current reward list before spending time collecting or opening it.
- Remember that the cited official material does not provide a Requiem-reward percentage, so do not assume it matches the 2% Eximus rate.
Update 42 details are available in the official The Shadowgrapher patch notes.
Steel Path Railjack is an additional option
Update 43 specifically says that Eximus enemies in Steel Path Railjack have a chance to drop Riven Slivers, alongside Steel Essence. This is a separate source from the ordinary Eximus wording in Update 32.
The cited Update 43 passage does not state the Railjack Sliver probability, so it is not possible to prove from that source that Steel Path Railjack is faster or more generous than ordinary level-eligible Eximus farming. Choose it when you already want to run Steel Path Railjack and can consistently defeat its Eximus enemies, rather than treating an unlisted rate as a guarantee.
You can read the wording in the official Jade Shadows: Constellations patch notes.
What Riven Slivers are used for
Palladino’s weekly Riven
Palladino, located in Iron Wake, accepts Riven Slivers in exchange for a weekly Riven. The Mods Guide presents this as the core recurring use: collect Slivers from qualifying activities, then visit her when the weekly offering is available.
Additional exchanges after Update 42
Update 42 expanded Palladino’s Sliver offerings beyond the original Riven purchase, including retired Requiem Relics and other items. The exact inventory can depend on the current game version, so inspect Palladino’s in-game wares rather than relying on an old list.
Slivers are therefore both a drop resource and a currency. Not seeing a Sliver in a mission is a drop result; spending Slivers at Iron Wake is a separate transaction and does not affect whether future Eximus kills can drop them.

A practical farming decision
Use ordinary or Steel Path Eximus when you want direct kill rolls
- Pick missions where Eximus enemies reliably reach level 30 or higher.
- Confirm the level before counting a kill as an eligible opportunity.
- Expect many failures because the listed chance is only 2% per eligible enemy.
Use Requiem Relics when you already have them
- Verify that the relic is part of the current system.
- Do not follow a pre-Update-42 instruction to farm Requiem I–IV as though those relics still drop normally.
- Compare your own access to relics and opening activities; no cited source establishes a universal fastest route.
Use Steel Path Railjack when it fits your normal play
- Target Eximus enemies in Steel Path Railjack.
- Treat the Sliver as a chance reward, not a guaranteed companion to Steel Essence.
- Because Update 43 does not publish a numeric Sliver rate in the cited text, avoid precise efficiency claims.
Why common explanations are wrong
“I killed Eximus, so I should have received one”
Only level-30-plus Eximus are covered by the Update 32 chance, and even those enemies roll at 2%. Eximus status alone is insufficient.
Rank #3
“Steel Path should guarantee the drop”
Steel Path Eximus are listed at 2% in Update 32, the same published percentage as regular eligible Eximus. The mode does not convert the chance into a guaranteed reward.
“The old Requiem relic guide says the relic is available”
Update 42 removed Requiem I–IV from drop tables and replaced them with Requiem Eterna. A guide that has not been updated may be describing a retired pool.
“No drop proves a bug”
A failed random roll is the normal explanation when the enemy and level requirements were met. A bug claim requires more evidence, such as a reproducible failure under a current, documented reward table or an official support finding.
What is confirmed—and what is not
The published facts are narrow but clear: Update 32 gives the level-30-plus requirement and 2% rates for regular and Steel Path Eximus; the official Mods Guide lists Eximus and Requiem Relics as common sources; Update 42 revises the Requiem system; and Update 43 adds Steel Path Railjack Eximus as a chance source.
The cited material does not establish a numeric Requiem Relic rate, a numeric Steel Path Railjack rate, a guaranteed Sliver after a set number of kills, or a universal best farm. Drop systems can change in later updates, so verify a later patch against current in-game information before treating these figures as permanent.
For historical context, Update 26 introduced Riven Slivers and their Palladino exchange, but its old Kuva Siphon odds are historical and should not be used as current drop rates without an updated table. The original introduction is documented in Digital Extremes’ The Old Blood patch notes.
Fast troubleshooting checklist
- Was the enemy actually Eximus?
- Was its level at least 30?
- Were you using a current mission and reward table?
- How many eligible Eximus did you defeat—not how many total enemies?
- Were you opening a currently available Requiem Relic, rather than a retired type?
- If you ran Steel Path Railjack, were the targets Eximus?
- Did you account for the chance-based nature of every route?
If all answers point to an eligible source and you still suspect a technical problem, record the mission, enemy levels, mode, date and number of eligible kills before contacting official support. Those details distinguish an ordinary missed roll from a reproducible reward issue.
