A 24/7 broadcast is not, by itself, a documented reason that YouTube disables gifted channel memberships. YouTube says membership gifts can be purchased in live chat during an eligible live stream or Premiere when the channel has gifting enabled. In India, check channel eligibility and activation, live chat, viewer opt-in and account requirements, and any country-verification error before assuming the stream’s length or your location is the cause.
First, confirm which kind of “gift” you mean
Gifted channel memberships give eligible viewers up to one month of access to a channel’s membership perks. A viewer purchases them through live chat during a live stream or Premiere where channel membership gifting is enabled. YouTube documents the feature here: YouTube Help: Gift channel memberships.

YouTube also has a separate Jewels and virtual-items feature that may use the word “Gifts.” Its availability and eligibility rules are not the same as channel membership gifting. India appearing in information about Jewels does not establish that every channel or viewer in India can use membership gifts, nor does it explain a membership-gifting error. See YouTube Help: Buy and use Jewels and YouTube Help: Eligibility for virtual gifts.

- Confirm the channel is eligible. Memberships are a creator feature subject to YouTube eligibility and policy requirements. If the channel is not eligible, its Memberships tab may not appear. Review YouTube Help: Turn on or manage channel memberships.
- Make sure memberships are activated. An eligible creator must turn the feature on and accept the Commerce Product Module. If memberships are paused because of monetization or policy status, the Join button disappears; check the channel’s membership status and any notices in YouTube Studio.
- Verify gifting is enabled. Gift purchases require a channel with gifting enabled. If ordinary memberships are available but gifting is not, check the gifting control and any on-screen eligibility or policy notice rather than treating those features as interchangeable.
Check live chat and the stream’s settings
Membership gifting happens through live chat, so confirm that live chat is available and enabled on the broadcast. If you are actually looking at the separate Jewels/virtual-items Gifts feature, YouTube lists conditions that can make a stream ineligible: age restriction, unlisted or private status, Made for Kids designation, a YouTube Giving fundraiser, or disabled live chat/comments. These are documented for virtual gifts; do not assume each condition is automatically a membership-gifting rule.

Check whether the viewer can receive gifts
Even when the channel and stream support gifting, a particular viewer may not qualify to receive a gifted membership. YouTube says viewers must opt in. To opt in, they need to be signed in to a non-Brand Account; to receive a gift, they must subscribe to and have recently interacted with the channel. A person who already has a membership to that channel is not eligible to receive a gift. Ask an affected viewer to check their opt-in and account, or see YouTube’s gift membership instructions.
If YouTube cannot verify your country
A country-verification error can prevent gifting options from appearing. If you see “We couldn’t verify your country,” YouTube recommends trying a different network or device and turning off any VPN or proxy. Follow the steps in YouTube Help: Fix problems with purchases and country verification.

YouTube’s India billing guidance also says RBI eMandate requirements may require payment details to be verified or re-entered to maintain recurring channel memberships. That is guidance about recurring membership billing; it is not evidence that India generally blocks viewers from buying gifted memberships. See YouTube Help: Membership payment issues in India. YouTube says India membership pricing updates began rolling out gradually from May 2025, but that pricing change is not identified as a cause of gifting being unavailable; details are on its channel membership pricing page.
A 24/7 broadcast’s archive is a separate issue
YouTube’s archive guidance warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. That affects whether the broadcast is saved as an archive; the guidance does not say that gifts are disabled while the stream is live. In other words, the archive limit is not a documented explanation for missing live membership gifts. See YouTube Help: Archive live streams.

Work through this troubleshooting order
- Identify whether the missing option is for channel membership gifts or Jewels/virtual-items Gifts.
- On the creator side, check membership eligibility, activation, any paused status, and whether gifting is enabled.
- On the broadcast, confirm live chat is available. If you mean virtual gifts, also check the stream conditions YouTube lists for that feature.
- Ask the affected viewer to sign in to a non-Brand Account, opt in, subscribe to the channel, and confirm they are not already a member.
- If the viewer sees a country-verification message, try another network or device and disable VPN or proxy. For recurring membership payment problems in India, review YouTube’s eMandate guidance separately.
- If all checks pass, note the exact error, whether it affects one viewer or everyone, and whether it appears on a live stream or Premiere; share those details with YouTube support or consult the channel’s Studio notices. The available public guidance does not establish an account-specific cause without those details.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you use a computer or streaming setup to keep a pre-recorded YouTube stream running around the clock, StreamNeo is a separate way to keep that broadcast online; it does not enable, restore, or troubleshoot YouTube membership gifting. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
