If an App Store purchase or subscription is missing on another Apple device, first determine whether Apple recorded the transaction. Open reportaproblem.apple.com or the App Store’s purchase history. A missing record usually means the purchase was made with a different Apple Account or has a billing problem. A visible record points instead to account alignment, app availability, compatibility, restoration, subscription status, or Family Sharing.
Use the matching procedure below for the type of item you bought. An app download, a non-consumable in-app purchase, a subscription, and a consumable such as game currency do not use the same recovery method.

Start with purchase history
Purchase history is the fastest way to separate a missing transaction from an app or device recognition problem. Sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com and review the list. If you know the charge amount but not the item name, search by amount. You can also open the App Store on the device and view the account’s purchase history; Apple documents device-specific routes for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Windows in its purchase-history guide.

If the purchase is missing from history
Check other Apple Accounts
Apple purchase records belong to the Apple Account that completed the transaction. A device can be signed in to one account for iCloud and another under Media & Purchases, and an older account may still have been used for the original purchase. Sign out only after noting the current account, then check each plausible account at reportaproblem.apple.com or in App Store purchase history. Do not buy the item again until you have checked these accounts.

Distinguish a charge from a completed purchase
A card authorization, a pending bank entry, or a charge associated with a failed transaction does not always mean the item was delivered. If Apple shows a billing warning, resolve that first. For messages such as “billing problem with previous purchase” or “verification required,” follow Apple’s payment-remedy steps, including updating the payment method or settling an unpaid balance: Apple’s billing guidance.
If none of your accounts shows the transaction and the charge has actually posted, gather the date, amount, and receipt information before contacting Apple Support. Apple can investigate account, purchase-history, and billing records; an app developer cannot add a missing App Store transaction to your Apple Account.
If the purchase is recorded but the app is not on the device
Match the Media & Purchases account
On each device, verify the Apple Account used for Media & Purchases, not just the account shown for iCloud. It must match the account that appears in the purchase history. After correcting the account, open the App Store, go to the account’s purchased items, and look for the app. Redownload it from there rather than searching the store as if it were a new purchase.

Check availability and compatibility
A purchase does not guarantee that an app has a version for every Apple device. Developers can limit an app to particular operating systems, hardware, or regions, and an app available for iPhone may not be available for iPad, Mac, or Apple TV. Apple’s redownload guide explains how to check purchased items and notes that app availability varies by device.
Compare the device model, operating-system version, and the app’s listed requirements. If the app appears in purchases but cannot be installed, the limitation may be compatibility rather than a lost entitlement. A purchase made on one platform also does not automatically create a separate version on another platform when the developer has not released one.
Look for hidden or restricted purchases
Hidden purchases do not appear in the ordinary purchased list. Use Apple’s redownload and purchase-history controls to check whether the app was hidden, and unhide it if needed. Restrictions, regional availability, or a device-association limit can also prevent a normal redownload. Follow the troubleshooting steps in Apple’s redownload documentation before assuming the transaction disappeared.

Restore an in-app purchase from inside the app
For an in-app purchase, reinstalling the app or signing in to the App Store is often not enough. Open the app in which the purchase was made and look for Restore Purchases, Restore, or similar wording. The control is commonly in the app’s store, main menu, Settings, or Options screen. Tap it while signed in to the Apple Account that owns the transaction.
Know what can and cannot be restored

Apple’s instructions for failed in-app purchases explain these distinctions and the restore process: If you can’t find or use your Apple In-App Purchases. Restore does not create a new purchase and does not refund an item; it asks the app to recheck an existing entitlement.
If Restore Purchases does nothing
- Confirm that the app is signed in to the same Apple Account shown in purchase history.
- Check that the app is up to date and that the device has an internet connection.
- Close and reopen the app after tapping Restore, then allow time for the entitlement check to finish.
- Do not repeatedly purchase the same item while troubleshooting; that can create another charge without fixing the original recognition problem.
If Apple shows a completed charge but the app still does not unlock the item after restoration, contact the app developer. The developer controls the app’s entitlement and server-side access. Include the Apple receipt or order details, the app version, device model, and the exact feature that remains locked. Use Apple Support instead when the problem is the Apple Account, payment, or purchase record itself.

Check subscription status separately
View the subscription on iPhone
On iPhone, Apple’s iOS 26 user guide places subscription controls at Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions. There you can see active and expired subscriptions, change a plan, cancel renewal, or renew an expired plan. The same account-level check is available through Apple’s purchase and subscription documentation: See your purchases and subscriptions in the App Store on iPhone.
Separate an active subscription from app access
Seeing an active subscription in Settings proves that Apple has an entitlement for that Apple Account. It does not prove that the app has refreshed its own access state. If the subscription is active but premium features remain locked, open the app and use Restore Purchases. If restoration fails, the developer must investigate why the app is not accepting the valid subscription. If the subscription is absent from Settings, check other Apple Accounts and the subscription’s billing status before contacting the developer.
Subscriptions purchased outside Apple’s billing system follow the seller’s account and support process instead. They will not appear in Apple’s App Store subscription list merely because the same app is installed on an Apple device.
Fix Family Sharing visibility
Align the family member’s accounts
For a purchase made by another family member, the device must be part of the same Family Sharing group, and the account used for Family Sharing must also be the account used for Media & Purchases. Turn on Purchase Sharing for the family group. Then open the App Store’s purchased items and select the family member whose purchases you want to view.
Confirm the item is shareable
Not every purchase qualifies for Family Sharing. Some subscriptions and in-app purchases cannot be shared, and an app developer can opt out of sharing. Apple lists these limits in If you can’t find your family’s shared apps and content. A family member therefore may be unable to access an item even when the group and accounts are configured correctly.
Check hidden purchases and system requirements
The purchaser may have hidden the app, so review hidden-purchase controls as well as the normal family list. The receiving device must also meet the app’s operating-system and hardware requirements. Family Sharing changes who can download an eligible purchase; it does not bypass an app’s compatibility limits.
Use the right support route

Keep the diagnosis narrow when you contact support. Tell Apple whether the item appears in purchase history and whether the issue is account or billing related. Tell the developer that Apple shows the purchase and that you already used the in-app restore control. This prevents each support team from repeating checks that belong to the other.
