The practical fix is to identify one mismatch, add the missing detail, and try again. Clearer instructions help, but they cannot guarantee a particular result; different tools interpret prompts differently, and some produce varying results across attempts.
Why does my AI game generator keep ignoring parts of my prompt?
Often, the generator is not ignoring a fully specified instruction so much as filling in details the prompt leaves undecided. “Make a fun pirate game,” for example, does not say what the player does, how they control the character, what the setting looks like, or how the player wins. A tool may choose plausible defaults that do not match the game in your head.

Other common gaps include an unclear reference (“make it move”), missing timing (“make it night” could mean a static edit or a change during play), or several separate changes bundled into one request. The relevant details also depend on the kind of tool: a project assistant needs to identify the object it should edit, while a world generator benefits from a description of the environment, character, actions, and movement.

How do I get an AI game generator to make the game I described?
Work from the result you actually got. Find one concrete mismatch, then revise the prompt to address it. Avoid rewriting everything at once: if several instructions change together, it becomes harder to tell which one helped.
- Identify one mismatch. Is the wrong object changing, an action missing, the timing wrong, a constraint omitted, or a visual detail different from what you intended?
- Give the tool a clear reference. Name the character, object, or scene element as it appears in the project. If the tool supports selecting an object, select the intended target. Supply only the extra context needed to identify it.
- Replace vague qualities with observable requirements. Instead of “make it better” or “make it exciting,” state an action, amount, location, condition, or visual property that you can check in the result.
- Specify when the change should happen. Say whether you want a one-time edit or behavior during gameplay, and name the event that should trigger it.
- Separate unrelated tasks. Ask for one main change, inspect it, and then request the next. OpenAI recommends breaking complex requests into smaller, focused prompts in its prompt engineering guidance.
- Test and refine. Keep the parts that worked, say what remains wrong, and make the next revision specific to that mismatch.
Make each instruction specific enough to check
A useful prompt describes the target, the desired behavior, and any important limits. For example, “make my character run like an adventure game” leaves both the meaning of “run” and the desired camera behavior open.

A more specific example for a project-editing assistant would be: “In Roblox Studio, add a script so the character continuously moves forward during gameplay. Adjust the prompt to the type of generator

For a project-editing assistant
Use the object’s exact name where possible, state the behavior you want, and distinguish a change in the editor from something that should occur while the game is running. In Roblox Studio, the Assistant may otherwise favor an edit-time action. If the tool supports selecting the relevant object, that can help identify your target.
For a text-to-world generator
Describe the environment and character separately, then say what the character does and how it moves. Add relevant terrain, structures, style, lighting, starting position, and world responses—for example, whether movement leaves tracks or cuts grass. Google DeepMind’s Genie guide recommends simple, direct sentences, concrete sensory details, and checking the image preview when the product provides one. Those fields are guidance for that workflow, not requirements shared by all generators.

Why a clearer prompt still may not produce the same result
A better-specified prompt reduces ambiguity, but it does not guarantee the output you want. Roblox Creator Hub notes: “Many AI tools are non-deterministic, meaning they don’t create the exact same output each time you ask them to do something.” OpenAI also recommends iterative refinement rather than treating a prompt as a guaranteed one-shot instruction, as described in its ChatGPT prompt engineering best practices.
