“Unavailable in your region” usually means the PlayStation Store catalog for your account’s registered country does not offer that item. First identify whether the notice applies to the full digital game, downloadable content for a disc, or a voucher code. Each has a different cause and next step, and changing your console’s location does not change the country attached to a PlayStation account.
What “unavailable in your region” can mean
PlayStation Store catalogs are country-specific. Sony states that “Content and services available on PlayStation Store vary by country/region.” The country or region selected when an account is created determines which store catalog, prices, payment rules, releases and services that account can use.

The wording is easy to misread because three separate problems are commonly described as a game being unavailable:

Do not assume that an add-on compatibility error proves the main game itself is blocked. A physical disc can run while its separately purchased expansion or currency fails to recognize the disc because the licenses are from different regions.

Check the country or region on your account
Before changing settings or buying anything else, verify the country attached to the account that is showing the message. Sony says this country or region cannot be changed after account creation.
Using a web browser
- Sign in to Account Management with the affected PlayStation account.
- Choose Your Information.
- Open Edit your Residential Address.
- Review the country or region shown with the address. This is the Store region that governs the account’s catalog and voucher compatibility.
Using the PlayStation App
- Open the PlayStation App and sign in to the same account used on the console.
- Open the account information area.
- Select Account Information, then Residential Address.
- Check the country or region listed there.
The console’s language, time zone, physical location, or a location setting in a network connection does not rewrite this account information. Creating a new account with a different country may produce access to that country’s Store, but it is a separate account; purchases, entitlements, wallet funds and trophies do not automatically move between accounts. Sony’s published guidance does not promise that changing a console location, using a VPN, or redeeming a foreign voucher will make an unavailable listing work.
If the main digital game is unavailable
Confirm that the listing is missing from the correct Store
Search while signed in to the account that will own the game. Check the account’s own country Store rather than relying on a search result, a screenshot from another country, or a link opened while signed out. A title can have different release dates, editions, age ratings, languages, prices, or availability in different markets.

If the game does not appear or the purchase button is disabled, the evidence establishes that Store catalogs vary by country, but it does not identify the reason for every individual title. The publisher may have chosen a country-specific launch, withheld a release in that market, or listed a different edition. Look for the publisher’s official release and support information for that country. For season passes and other country-specific items, PlayStation advises checking the Store listing and the publisher’s site for availability and release details.
Check release timing and edition differences
Compare the exact product name, platform and edition. A PS4 version, PS5 version, deluxe edition, trial, bundle and season pass can have separate Store entries. A listing that says “not available” may refer to one edition while another edition is sold. Do not buy a code or disc until the product’s country and platform match the account and console you intend to use.
When the title is legitimately absent
If the publisher confirms that the game is not released in your country, there is no documented setting that converts your existing account into another country. The supported choices are to wait for an official release, use an officially sold edition that is compatible with your account and console, or ask the publisher whether a local release is planned. Avoid treating a foreign listing as proof that a purchase will be usable on your account.

If an add-on for a disc game is unavailable or incompatible
Disc-based games can create a different regional problem. Sony’s add-on guidance says the country or region license for the disc must match the country or region on the account for Store add-ons or in-game currency to work with that disc.
Read the disc’s regional marking
Inspect the game box, disc label and any regional code or distribution marking. Then compare that market with the country shown in Account Management. A disc imported from one market and an add-on purchased from another can be incompatible even when the game title and console are the same.
This check applies to expansions, map packs, costumes, currency, season-pass content and other downloadable items tied to the disc. It does not, by itself, establish that the complete digital version is unavailable in your country; it establishes a license mismatch for the disc and add-on.

Use the matching Store for future purchases
Buy add-ons from the same country or region as both the disc license and the account. If the account was created in a different country from the disc, a locally sold add-on may not attach to that physical copy. Keep the receipt and product details if you need to ask the publisher or PlayStation Support to investigate.
If a voucher code is rejected
PlayStation voucher codes are region-locked. Sony’s voucher guidance says a code can be redeemed only in the same PlayStation Store region as the account. A gift card bought for another country is therefore not a general solution to an unavailable game.

Check the voucher before scratching or redeeming it
- Read the country or regional restriction printed on the card, receipt or retailer listing.
- Compare it with the account country shown under Account Management or in the PlayStation App.
- Confirm that the code is for the intended Store and has not already been redeemed or expired under the seller’s terms.
If the regions do not match, contact the retailer about its return or exchange policy. Sony states that the account country or region cannot be changed after setup, so support cannot simply convert an incompatible voucher into local wallet credit.

Follow these steps in order so that you do not apply a voucher fix to an add-on problem or reinstall a game when the account catalog is the issue.
- Identify the affected item. Note whether the notice appears on the main game page, an expansion or in-game currency page, or the voucher redemption screen. Save a screenshot showing the full message and product name.
- Verify the account region. In Account Management, open Your Information and Edit your Residential Address. In the PlayStation App, use Account Information and Residential Address.
- For a main-game listing, check the account’s own Store. Search for the exact title and edition while signed in. Then check the publisher’s official release or support page for country-specific availability and timing.
- For disc content, compare licenses. Read the region marking on the box or disc and compare it with the account country. Do not purchase another add-on until the regions match.
- For a voucher, compare Store regions. A code must match the account’s Store region. If it does not, pursue a retailer resolution instead of repeatedly entering the code.
- For a purchased add-on that is missing, verify ownership. Check transaction history, confirm that the add-on has downloaded, and look for it in the game’s own menus or inventory. Some content appears only after a required mission, update or in-game location; the publisher’s instructions are authoritative for those conditions.
- Apply standard add-on troubleshooting. Restart the console, restore licenses, and reinstall the add-on if PlayStation’s add-on guide recommends those steps for the symptom you see. Make sure the base game is installed on the same account and console profile that made the purchase.
- Escalate with evidence. Contact the game publisher for an unresolved third-party title issue. Contact PlayStation Support for a persistent Store, account, purchase or licensing problem. Include the account region, disc or voucher region, transaction details, console model, product name and a screenshot or video of the error.
What not to do
Do not rely on a VPN as a Store-region fix
A VPN can change the apparent network location, but Sony’s account and Store guidance does not document it as a way to change the country attached to an account or guarantee access to another catalog. It can also complicate payment, verification and support. Treat the account’s registered country, not the IP address, as the relevant regional setting.
Do not buy a foreign voucher as a workaround
The voucher region must match the account region. Buying a code first and checking its restriction afterward leaves you dependent on the seller’s refund policy.
Do not infer compatibility from the game title alone
Identical titles can have separate regional licenses, editions and add-ons. Match the disc, account, Store listing and platform before purchasing downloadable content.
Do not assume reinstalling changes catalog availability
Reinstalling can help an already purchased add-on that fails to appear, but it cannot add a product that the account’s Store does not sell or change a voucher’s region.

For season passes and other time-sensitive add-on products, check both the PlayStation Store entry and the publisher’s information. Release timing and country availability can differ from the base game.
