Who owns the Insignia brand?
Insignia is one of Best Buy’s private-label brands, according to the company’s SEC-filed disclosure. Best Buy has also described its private-label business and the history of Insignia televisions in a 2018 corporate article, which says Insignia TVs launched in September 2005.

That makes Insignia a Best Buy brand rather than a Samsung-owned brand. It does not, by itself, answer which company physically produced a particular television.
Does Samsung manufacture Insignia TVs?
The official sources cited here do not establish that Samsung manufactures Insignia TVs, nor do they establish a single manufacturer for every Insignia model or production run. Brand ownership and factory production are different matters: a retailer can own a private-label brand while products are made by outside manufacturers, and arrangements may vary by model.

Best Buy support answers identify Best Buy as the manufacturer for a specific F30 TV and describe a specific F20 TV as produced under its private label. Those model-specific answers are not a complete record of Insignia’s suppliers, so they should not be generalized to the entire range: F30 support answer and F20 support answer.
What does the Fire TV relationship mean?
On September 23, 2026, Best Buy announced an expanded multiyear partnership with Amazon, saying Fire TV would remain the exclusive TV software experience on all Insignia TVs produced by Best Buy. How to check who made a specific Insignia TV
- Find the exact model number. Check the label on the back of the TV, its settings or its original packaging. A series name alone may cover multiple models.
- Search Best Buy’s product and support pages for that model. Look for model-specific manufacturer or production information; do not treat an answer about a different F-series model as applying to yours.
- Check the product label and documentation. These may identify the responsible company or other product details for that particular set. If the manufacturer is not stated, do not infer it from the Insignia name or Fire TV software.
Best Buy’s available product information and support answers are useful for checking a specific set, but the sources cited above do not provide a complete manufacturer list for the Insignia TV range.
