What is Kerkez’s playing style?
Kerkez is an attack-minded full-back expected to contribute at both ends of the pitch. Liverpool’s 2025 profile describes him as high-energy and says he relishes the attacking and defensive demands of the position. Bournemouth Daily Echo journalist Alex Smith, quoted by Liverpool, characterized him as energetic, fit and quick, and praised his final delivery and improvement in attacking output. That is Smith’s assessment, rather than a statistical rating.
Liverpool reported that Kerkez covered 233.4 miles and made 843 total sprints in the 2024–25 Premier League season, ranking him among the league’s top five in both measures. These are club-reported figures for that season, not current career totals. They indicate considerable running, but running volume alone does not establish how effective a player is or whether he is better than another left-back.

How has Kerkez adapted to Liverpool?
In an interview reported by Liverpool on 29 April 2026, Kerkez described his first months at the club as a period of adapting to a different playing style, a heavy match load and the physical demands of the season. He called it “a growing season, learning a lot of new things and adapting.” Liverpool’s report counted 44 appearances, including 36 starts, at that point, with four league games remaining. That was an in-season tally, not his final total.
Rank #3
- Develops technique and ball control by focusing on smaller target during training
- Official size 3 ball with official size 5 weight mimics the bounce, roll and reaction of a match ball
- Improves all phases of the game, including dribbling, shooting, passing and receiving both short passes and driven balls
- Perfect tool for coaches and individual training on the pitch or at home
- Help goal keepers improve reaction time and body position during saves by tracking and catching a smaller ball
In an interview published by Liverpool on 22 August 2026, Kerkez described the team’s intended approach under Andoni Iraola as high-pressing and front-footed: “We want to have the ball, so we need to press quick, need to take the ball fast away from the opponent and after that just play and keep the ball.” This explains the approach he described; it is not an independent assessment of every match. Liverpool’s April 2026 interview and August 2026 interview give the dated context.
