Who is Atsu in Ghost of Yōtei?
Atsu is the central character and playable hero of Ghost of Yōtei. PlayStation describes her as a new protagonist living an unconventional tale in 1600s Northern Japan, in a world near Mount Yōtei. She is not simply a renamed version of Jin Sakai, the hero of Ghost of Tsushima.

The game’s official description presents Atsu’s journey as one that starts with vengeance and moves beyond it. Sucker Punch co-founder and studio head Brian Fleming described the story as one of “healing and redemption that runs deeper than vengeance,” told through the eyes of a new hero. That framing points to broader themes without revealing specific plot developments or the ending.
Who voices Atsu? Erika Ishii’s role explained
Erika Ishii voices Atsu and lends their likeness to the character. PlayStation’s launch interview with Ishii discusses the experience of bringing the protagonist to life. Ishii described the appeal of inhabiting the role this way: “I think there’s just something really fun about truly living out that fantasy.”

Is Ghost of Yōtei a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima?
No. Sucker Punch says Ghost of Yōtei is not a direct sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. It introduces Atsu as a new hero and a new story rather than continuing Jin Sakai’s immediate narrative. The studio describes the connection as an evolution of the earlier game’s design and mythos, not a direct story continuation.

Ghost of Yōtei launched on PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025. Sucker Punch identifies it as a PS5 exclusive and says it supports PS5 Pro. The official PlayStation Store also currently lists a Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition, with a story expansion into Atsu’s past mentioned in the listing. Edition contents and availability can vary by territory or change over time, so check the live Store page for your region before choosing an edition.
