Yahiko did not originate as a creation of Akatsuki: he helped create the original Akatsuki, alongside Nagato and Konan, and led it. Their group sought peace in the Hidden Rain. The confusion comes from the title’s wording—and from later events that should not be collapsed into the organization’s founding.
Who founded the original Akatsuki?
Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan formed the original Akatsuki as a peace-seeking organization for the Hidden Rain. The Naruto Official Site’s synopsis for “Creeping Shadow,” episode 567 of Naruto: Shippuden, says they formed it to realize their dream of bringing peace to the Hidden Rain. The synopsis for “Origin of Pain,” episode 393, identifies Yahiko as the group’s leader.

How did Yahiko’s group come together?
Before forming the organization, the three sought out Jiraiya in a war zone, hoping to learn ninjutsu. The episode 393 synopsis describes their journey in search of him. After their training, the trio formed the organization under Yahiko’s leadership, according to the same official summary.

That growth does not change who the founding trio were or what the original group set out to achieve.

What was Obito’s role in the origin story?
The episode 567 synopsis says Obito appeared disguised as Madara Uchiha and warned Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan that their ideals would not be realized. That establishes a warning in the origin-period account; it does not, by itself, establish that Obito founded Yahiko’s original Akatsuki. The distinction matters: the official summaries identify Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan as the founders and Yahiko as their leader.

The phrase reverses the relationship. Yahiko was already one of the people who formed the original Akatsuki; the organization did not create him. A more accurate way to frame the question is: “Why did Yahiko form Akatsuki?” The answer is that he and his companions wanted to bring peace to the Hidden Rain.

The official summaries establish the original group’s purpose, its founders, Yahiko’s leadership, and Obito’s warning. They do not, on their own, provide a complete account of later leadership changes or every detail of Obito’s influence, so those developments should not be treated as proof that he created Yahiko’s group.
