WhiteBIT Adds Bitcoin Lightning Deposits and Withdrawals: Fees, Limits, and How to Use Them

WhiteBIT added Bitcoin Lightning Network deposits and withdrawals on October 8, 2026, giving users an alternative to transferring BTC over the standard Bitcoin network. The route can be useful for smaller transfers, but WhiteBIT lists fees of 0.25% for deposits and 0.15% for withdrawals, and limits each direction to 0.0001–0.06 BTC. Before sending, check the fee, amount limits, and that the wallet or service on the other end supports Lightning.

What WhiteBIT’s Lightning integration changes

WhiteBIT’s October 8, 2026 guide says users can choose Lightning when depositing or withdrawing BTC. This is an additional transfer route, not a replacement for ordinary Bitcoin-network transfers. The guide describes the standard route as an on-chain transfer that depends on network confirmations; Lightning uses Bitcoin’s layer 2 and payment channels for transfers that are not each individually broadcast as a Bitcoin-chain transaction.

The launch announcement also refers to top-ups, send-and-receive functionality, and QR payment experiences. The detailed WhiteBIT how-to guide documents deposits and withdrawals, so those are the flows described below. WhiteBIT names Voltage as the infrastructure provider behind the integration in its launch release; Voltage also announced the partnership on October 8, 2026.

Lightning fees and transfer limits

WhiteBIT’s guide and its live cryptocurrency fee schedule list these platform terms. The fee schedule was accessed on October 9, 2026; WhiteBIT says fees and conditions can change, so check the current withdrawal page and deposit details immediately before a transfer.

Bitkey Bitcoin Hardware Wallet, No Screen - Self-Custody, No Seed Phrase
  • BITCOIN EXCLUSIVE, PHONE VERIFICATION: Bitkey is designed from the ground up exclusively for bitcoin — a dedicated hardware wallet for secure bitcoin storage. Approve transactions with a tap using your phone and NFC. No device screen is required.
  • SELF-CUSTODY, NO EXCHANGE OR CUSTODIAN REQUIRED: You hold two of the three keys in the Bitkey system – one on your phone and one on your Bitkey device. The third is stored on Bitkey’s server and cannot move your bitcoin on its own.
  • NO SEED PHRASE: Set up and use Bitkey without creating or storing a seed phrase.
  • 2-of-3 MULTISIG: Three keys are stored separately across your phone, Bitkey device, and Bitkey’s server. Any two keys are required to move your bitcoin.
  • BUILT-IN RECOVERY: Encrypted backup and recovery tools can help you regain access if you lose your phone or Bitkey device. You can also designate a Recovery Contact.
BTC route Deposit fee Withdrawal fee Minimum Maximum
Lightning 0.25% 0.15% 0.0001 BTC for deposits and withdrawals 0.06 BTC for deposits and withdrawals
Standard Bitcoin network Free 0.00009 BTC 0.0001 BTC deposit; 0.0003 BTC withdrawal Not stated in the cited fee schedule

The percentages above are WhiteBIT’s published Lightning charges, not a statement about fees across the Lightning Network. The standard-network figures are from a separate row of WhiteBIT’s fee table and should not be applied to Lightning. The schedule says withdrawal fees depend on blockchain fees and asset price and may change without notice.

Which route should you choose?

Choose based on the receiving or sending service, the amount, the displayed charges, and how quickly the transfer needs to be processed. Lightning is intended for frequent and smaller-value transfers, but neither speed nor cost is guaranteed to be identical for every payment. The Lightning fee and amount limits above apply to WhiteBIT’s Lightning route; the standard route has its own listed terms.

  • Wallet compatibility: Both ends must support Lightning. A Bitcoin address for an on-chain transfer is not interchangeable with Lightning payment details.
  • Amount: Compare your transfer with WhiteBIT’s minimum and maximum for the selected route before creating or sending payment details.
  • Fees: Review the fee shown for the selected network in WhiteBIT before confirming. Do not assume Lightning is free.
  • Timing: Lightning payments use channels and routing rather than waiting for every individual payment to be recorded on-chain. Actual processing depends on the services and payment circumstances.

How to deposit BTC to WhiteBIT over Lightning

  1. In WhiteBIT, open Deposit, select BTC, then choose Lightning as the network.
  2. Generate the payment details. Scan the displayed QR code or copy the details into an external Lightning-compatible wallet or service.
  3. Check that the sending service is using Lightning and that the payment amount and details are correct, then confirm the payment there.
  4. WhiteBIT says BTC is credited once the transaction has been successfully processed. Check the account for the credit rather than assuming that generating payment details completed the deposit.

How to withdraw BTC from WhiteBIT over Lightning

  1. Open Withdrawal, select BTC, and choose Lightning as the network.
  2. Scan the receiving wallet’s QR code or enter its Lightning payment details.
  3. Enter an amount within WhiteBIT’s current limits. Review the selected network, payment details, amount, and displayed fee.
  4. Confirm the withdrawal only after verifying that the receiving service supports Lightning and the details are correct.

Lightning basics: channels, not individual on-chain payments

The Lightning Network’s technical overview describes participants opening a bidirectional payment channel anchored by an on-chain ledger entry. They can update balances within the channel without broadcasting each update individually. A channel can be closed by broadcasting its latest state to Bitcoin, and payments can route through multiple channels with mechanisms designed to make a routed payment succeed or fail atomically.

In practical terms, channels allow many transfers without treating every payment as a separate Bitcoin blockchain transaction. Bitcoin remains the underlying settlement and enforcement layer; it is not accurate to say that every Lightning transfer is immediately written to the blockchain.
