What the White House posted
The official White House account used the “flying cars before GTA 6” format to poke fun at the unusually long wait for Rockstar’s next game. Inshorts reported the post on October 17, while NTN24 also identified the account as official and described the image as humorous rather than evidence of a government flying-car launch.

The wording echoes a popular meme among players who have been waiting for GTA VI. It should be read as political social-media humor: the post contrasts futuristic transport imagery with the still-pending game release.
Why Tesla’s Roadster demonstration triggered the meme
The joke followed Tesla’s October 15 demonstration of its second-generation Roadster. The Economic Times reported brief aerial maneuvers assisted by thrusters, including a jump, a midair flip and a landing. Elon Musk was quoted as saying, “Turns out the future does have flying cars.” The report also reproduced Tesla’s slogan, “From Roadster in a rocket, to rocket in a Roadster.”

A hop is not sustained flight
Those maneuvers do not establish airplane- or helicopter-style flight. NTN24 specifically cautioned that the reported demonstration involved brief movements rather than sustained airborne travel. A vehicle that momentarily leaves the ground under thrust is therefore not the same thing as a certified, routinely usable flying car for public roads and airspace.
| Claim | What the reporting supports | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| “We got flying cars” | A White House meme reacting to the Roadster demonstration | A government flying-car deployment or a road-legal vehicle in service |
| Roadster aerial maneuvers | Brief jump, flip and landing assisted by thrusters | Sustained flight comparable to an aircraft or helicopter |
| “Before GTA 6” | A joke about the game’s extended development and release wait | That the game has been delayed beyond its announced date |
When GTA VI is scheduled to arrive
The Economic Times and NTN24 reported that GTA VI is scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The Economic Times report did not list a PC release date. “Scheduled” is an announced target, not confirmation that the game has shipped; the final release status can change until Rockstar confirms launch.

They indicate substantial attention but should not be presented as a verified cross-platform audience measurement.
How to interpret the competing claims
Meme framing
The White House caption is a punchline built around the game’s wait. Its image and wording are not technical documentation, procurement evidence or a transportation-policy announcement.

Engineering reality
The Roadster demonstration is evidence of a brief propulsive maneuver as reported by news outlets. It is not, by itself, evidence that a production vehicle can safely take off, cruise, land, comply with aviation rules and operate as an everyday road-and-air transport system.
Game-release reality
Rockstar’s reported November 19, 2026 date applies to the announced console versions. Until the publisher confirms that the release has occurred, readers should distinguish the target date from an actual launch.
