Diablo IV does not have an officially established native VR mode in the official materials reviewed for this guide. The practical option is to run the Windows PC version and stream it to a compatible headset, where it appears on a virtual screen. That is not the same as an immersive, motion-controlled Diablo VR game.
You must pass two separate checks: the computer has to meet Diablo IV’s own requirements, and it must also meet the requirements for the PC-to-headset streaming method. A system that satisfies only one list is not automatically suitable.

What “play Diablo in VR” means here
Diablo IV’s published specifications describe a conventional PC game. They specify Windows, processor, memory, graphics card, DirectX, storage and internet requirements, but they do not specify a headset, stereoscopic rendering, tracked controllers or a VR graphics mode. The official Blizzard and Steam materials reviewed for this article do not establish native Diablo IV VR support.
With a compatible headset, you can instead stream the PC game through Steam Link or use a wired PC-link connection. The headset acts as a display for the game running on the computer. You still use the PC version, and the result should be understood as a large virtual monitor rather than a first-person world with head-tracked gameplay.

This distinction affects every buying decision. A more expensive headset cannot add a VR mode that the game does not provide, and a faster graphics card cannot turn the streamed image into native motion-controlled Diablo gameplay.
Which headsets are covered by the documented options?
Meta’s Steam Link listing names Quest 2, Quest 3 and Quest Pro as compatible headsets for streaming Steam games from a PC. Meta’s device comparison separately lists Quest 3 and Quest 3S as supporting PC VR through Meta Quest Link, either by cable or Air Link. Those statements establish compatibility for the connection software; they do not rank the headsets for Diablo-specific image quality, comfort or frame rate.
| Connection route | Headsets identified by the cited documentation | What the route provides |
|---|---|---|
| Steam Link, wireless PC streaming | Quest 2, Quest 3 and Quest Pro | A streamed Steam game viewed on the headset’s virtual display |
| Meta Quest Link, wired or Air Link PC connection | Quest 3 and Quest 3S | PC VR connection; Diablo IV remains the PC game rather than a native VR title |
Quest 3S is therefore a current product option for the documented Quest Link route, while the Steam Link listing specifically names Quest 2, Quest 3 and Quest Pro. Confirm that the headset and connection method you intend to use are supported before buying a cable or changing your network.

Diablo IV’s four PC performance tiers
Blizzard’s launch requirements define four targets. They are conventional monitor-game targets, not VR targets. The minimum tier is explicitly described as 1080p native resolution, 720p render resolution, low settings and 30 frames per second. Higher tiers raise settings, resolution or memory but do not account for the extra work and latency of streaming to a headset.
| Blizzard tier | Target | Operating system and API | CPU | Memory | Graphics | Storage and network |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 1080p native; 720p render; low settings; 30 fps | 64-bit Windows 10 version 1909 or newer; DirectX 12 | Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-8350 | 8 GB | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660, AMD Radeon R9 280 or Intel Arc A380 | SSD with 90 GB available; broadband internet |
| Medium | 1080p; medium settings; 60 fps | DirectX 12 | Intel Core i5-4670K or AMD Ryzen 3 1300X | 16 GB | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 470 class | SSD with 90 GB available; broadband internet |
| High | 1080p; high settings; 60 fps | DirectX 12 | Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X | 16 GB | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT class | SSD with 90 GB available; broadband internet |
| Ultra 4K | 4K target | DirectX 12 | Not separately stated in the cited tier | 32 GB | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT class | SSD with 90 GB available; broadband internet |
The Steam store listing repeats the base minimum and recommended classes: 8 GB RAM and GTX 660/R9 280/Arc A380 at minimum, and 16 GB RAM with GTX 970/RX 470/Arc A750 as recommended. It also specifies DirectX 12, broadband internet and an SSD with 90 GB available. The Arc A750 appears in Steam’s recommended listing even though Blizzard’s medium table names the RX 470 class, so use the exact requirement for the store or edition from which you install the game.
Additional PC and network requirements for Steam Link
Meta lists a separate baseline for Steam Link. This list concerns streaming compatibility, not Diablo IV’s graphics settings. It requires Windows 10 or newer, Steam and SteamVR, an NVIDIA GTX 970 or better, a 5 GHz Wi-Fi 5 router, and Quest 2, Quest 3 or Quest Pro.

| Steam Link item | Minimum listed by Meta | Recommended by Meta |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 or newer | Windows 10 or newer |
| Steam software | Steam and SteamVR | Steam and SteamVR |
| Processor | Not separately stated in the minimum listing | Intel Core i5-4590 or AMD FX-8350 equivalent or better |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GTX 970 or better | NVIDIA RTX 2070 or AMD RX 6600 or better |
| Router | 5 GHz Wi-Fi 5 | Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E |
| PC network connection | Wireless connection is supported by the listing | PC connected to the network by wire |
These figures cannot be merged into one guaranteed “VR specification.” For example, Blizzard’s minimum GPU is a GTX 660-class part, but Meta’s Steam Link minimum is a GTX 970 or better. A computer could satisfy the game’s minimum on paper and still fall below Meta’s listed streaming baseline. Conversely, meeting the streaming app’s GPU requirement does not prove that the game will run at a desired Diablo IV setting.

Wireless Steam Link
Choose this route when the PC and router can sustain a stable local connection and you want to avoid a cable attached to the headset. Meta’s minimum network specification is a 5 GHz Wi-Fi 5 router. Its recommendation is Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E, with the computer connected to the network by Ethernet. The wireless link is between the router and headset; wiring the PC removes one segment of that path and is why Meta includes it in the recommended setup.
A faster internet subscription does not replace a suitable home network for local streaming. Broadband is listed by Blizzard for the game’s online functions, while the router and PC connection determine the local path to the headset. If your router is limited to older Wi-Fi or the PC uses a weak wireless signal, wireless streaming is the first part of the setup to question.

Wired Quest Link
A cable-based connection avoids the wireless headset hop. Meta’s documentation describes using a compatible USB-C cable for Quest Link. Compatibility depends on the headset model and the ports on the computer, so do not assume that every USB-C cable carries the required data connection or that every USB port has the same capability. Check both ends before purchasing.
Wired Link still does not create native Diablo IV VR. It changes how the PC image reaches the headset; the game’s rendering mode remains the standard PC mode.

- Verify the game installation target. Confirm that the computer uses 64-bit Windows 10 version 1909 or newer, DirectX 12, an SSD with at least 90 GB available and broadband internet, then compare the processor, RAM and GPU with the Diablo IV tier you want.
- Check the streaming baseline separately. For Steam Link, confirm Windows 10 or newer, Steam, SteamVR and at least the GTX 970-class GPU listed by Meta. Treat Meta’s RTX 2070 or RX 6600 recommendation as the stronger target for streaming.
- Select a documented headset. Steam Link’s listing names Quest 2, Quest 3 and Quest Pro. The Quest Link comparison names Quest 3 and Quest 3S for PC VR by cable or Air Link.
- Prepare the connection. For wireless Steam Link, use at least 5 GHz Wi-Fi 5; for Meta’s recommended arrangement, use Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E and connect the PC to the router by Ethernet. For wired Link, use a compatible USB-C data cable and a suitable PC port.
- Install and open the required PC software. Steam Link’s listed software prerequisites are Steam and SteamVR. Sign in to the same Steam environment used for the game and follow the headset’s pairing prompts.
- Start the PC game after the link is established. Launch Diablo IV through the connected PC environment. The headset should show the game on a virtual screen; do not expect head-tracked camera movement or motion-controller gameplay unless the game itself later adds an official VR mode.
- Adjust only after the connection is stable. Begin with a Diablo IV graphics tier your PC can sustain on a monitor. If the stream stutters, reduce game settings or streaming quality before assuming the headset is defective.
Match your existing PC to the right upgrade target
If the computer is below the Diablo minimum
Upgrade the game system first. The minimum target is already only 30 fps at low settings with a 720p render resolution, so adding a headset cannot compensate for missing CPU, GPU, memory, operating-system or storage requirements. Install the game on an SSD with 90 GB free and use a supported 64-bit Windows version.

If the computer meets Diablo minimum but not Steam Link minimum
The graphics card is the likely dividing line. Diablo’s minimum list reaches the GTX 660/R9 280/Arc A380 class, whereas Meta lists a GTX 970 or better as the Steam Link minimum and RTX 2070 or RX 6600 or better as its recommendation. Meeting Blizzard’s minimum does not establish that the PC can encode and deliver a satisfactory headset stream.
If the PC meets both lists but wireless play is unstable
Inspect the local network rather than buying a different headset immediately. Confirm 5 GHz operation at minimum, consider Wi-Fi 6 or 6E for Meta’s recommendation, and connect the PC to the router by Ethernet. Interference, distance and other traffic can still affect the result; the cited requirements are compatibility baselines, not a promised latency or frame rate.
If the image works but feels delayed
Streaming adds a PC-to-headset path that ordinary monitor play does not have. Check whether the PC is using wireless instead of the recommended wired network connection, and test the wired Link route if your headset and ports support it. Do not interpret delay as evidence that Diablo IV has a hidden VR mode; the setup is still displaying a streamed PC game.
What the published numbers do—and do not—promise
Blizzard’s 30-fps and 60-fps figures apply to the listed game resolutions and settings. Meta’s GPU and router figures identify Steam Link compatibility levels. Neither source promises a particular headset refresh rate, wireless latency, encode quality, visual clarity, comfort level or Diablo-specific performance.
No official source reviewed here ranks Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S or Quest Pro for Diablo IV visual quality. Choose among the documented models according to the connection route, ports and network you already have, not on the assumption that one model supplies native Diablo VR.
Bottom line
For the documented virtual-screen approach, start with a Quest model listed for your chosen connection, a PC that clears both Diablo IV’s desired performance tier and Meta’s Steam Link baseline, and a network that meets the wireless requirements or a compatible cable for wired Link. The safest stronger target is a PC around Meta’s recommended RTX 2070/RX 6600 graphics level, 16 GB RAM, and a wired connection to a Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E router. Those choices improve the odds of a stable stream; they do not change Diablo IV into a native VR game.
