Which UNO Game Should You Play? A Guide to the Digital Versions

Choose Ubisoft’s UNO if you want the listed PC or console game, with rule and cosmetic customization plus downloadable variants. Choose UNO! Mobile if you want the separate official phone or tablet app. They are distinct products, so select by device first, then check the exact edition, storefront region, controllers and downloadable content before buying.

The safest way to answer “Which UNO game should you play?” is not to declare one universal winner. The right choice depends on where you play, who you want to play with and which rulesets or add-ons interest you. Ubisoft’s listing covers Windows PC and major consoles; Mattel’s official UNO! Mobile site points phone and tablet users to the Apple App Store and Google Play. Neither product should be treated as an automatic substitute for the other.

The two official digital UNO options

The name “UNO” can refer to two different official digital products. Ubisoft publishes the PC and console game, while Mattel Game Studios HK Limited operates UNO! Mobile. The official pages identify them as separate offerings with different platform lineups. That distinction affects where you can install each game, which store controls the purchase and whether your friends can join the same session.

Ubisoft UNO for PC and consoles

Ubisoft’s product listing describes a casual game for solo play or play with friends. It advertises customizable rules and cosmetics, along with recurring Happy Hour events that introduce fresh gameplay on a weekly basis. The publisher lists these platforms:

#1 Best Overall
Mattel Games UNO Card Game, Ages 7+, 2-10 Players | Classic Card Game for Kids, Teens and Family Game Night, Colorblind Accessible & Customizable Cards (Amazon Exclusive)
  • UNO card game provides classic play, where players match colors or numbers in a race to get rid of all their cards!
  • Action Cards and Wild Cards add unexpected excitement and game-changing fun, like the Reverse Card that switches the direction of play!
  • The deck includes 3 blank Wild Cards for house rules anyone can make up -- erase and create new rules each game!
  • When down to one card, players don't want to forget to yell 'UNO!' Keep score and the first player or team to 500 wins!
  • The color blind accessible deck has special graphic symbols on each card to help identify its color, allowing players with any form of color blindness to play!
  • Windows PC
  • PlayStation 4
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox One
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • Nintendo Switch

Ubisoft shows August 16, 2016 as the release date on its product page. That is the date in the publisher’s listing, not a guarantee that every edition remains available in every regional store today. A listing can remain associated with a 2016 release while current bundles, promotions or regional availability change.

The Ubisoft version is the one to investigate if you want to play on a television-connected console, use a listed console controller or install the PC edition. Its description also makes it the relevant option for players interested in downloadable variants and cosmetic customization. The exact package still depends on the edition and store page you select.

UNO! Mobile

UNO! Mobile is a separate official mobile game. Mattel’s UNO! website says it is available worldwide and provides links to the Apple App Store and Google Play. The site identifies Mattel Game Studios HK Limited as the operator. Its news index displayed 2026 maintenance and update notices, as well as tournament announcements, indicating an actively maintained service at the time those notices were checked.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

“Available worldwide” does not guarantee identical access or features on every device and in every country. App-store availability, device support and service notices can change, so use the current store listing reached from the official UNO! Mobile site. The mobile site is also the appropriate place to look for current notices rather than assuming that a console update schedule applies to the app.

Which version fits your device?

What you have or want Best match Why
Windows PC Ubisoft UNO It is the official listed PC product, with published hardware requirements and supported controller information.
PlayStation 4 or 5 Ubisoft UNO Ubisoft lists both PlayStation generations.
Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S Ubisoft UNO Both Xbox generations appear in Ubisoft’s platform list.
Nintendo Switch Ubisoft UNO The Switch version is included in Ubisoft’s listing and has specific Joy-Con and Pro Controller support.
iPhone, iPad or Android device UNO! Mobile Mattel’s official site directs mobile players to Apple App Store and Google Play downloads.
Offline tabletop play A physical UNO deck A card deck is an optional non-digital way to play; neither digital product requires one.

There is no evidence here for a universal “best” version. The suitable choice follows your device and whether you want the console/PC product or the mobile app. If your household owns both a console and phones, do not assume that buying one version unlocks the other; treat them as separate products unless a current official listing says otherwise.

Is UNO! Mobile the same game as Ubisoft UNO?

No. The official pages establish separate products, operators and platforms. Ubisoft’s game is the PC and console release; UNO! Mobile is Mattel’s mobile service. The available information does not establish that they share accounts, matchmaking, modes, rulesets, downloadable content or lobbies.

Cross-play between Ubisoft’s PC and console versions and UNO! Mobile was not confirmed by the official material reviewed. Do not purchase one version expecting to join friends automatically on the other. Check a current support page or the exact store listing if cross-platform play is essential to your group.

The same caution applies within the Ubisoft platform list. The listing confirms that PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch versions exist, but it does not by itself promise that players on every one of those systems can enter a common lobby. A platform list is evidence of availability, not proof of cross-play, shared progression or account portability.

What you get in Ubisoft UNO

Core play and customization

Ubisoft says you can play solo or with friends, personalize rules and cosmetics, and participate in recurring Happy Hour events. These are publisher-described features; they are not an independent performance or usability test. “Customization” should therefore be read as the ability Ubisoft advertises, not as a guarantee that every possible house rule or cosmetic is available in every edition.

  • UNO Show 'em No Mercy game adds 56 more cards, special rules and super-tough action cards for the most brutal edition of UNO ever!
  • Tougher action cards, such as Skip Everyone, Wild Draw 6 and even Wild Draw 10 make game play merciless!
  • The Stacking Rule lets players pass the penalty (Draw +2, +4, +6, +10) to the next player until whoever can't play has to take all the cards combined!
  • Whenever a '7' or a '0' card is played, players must swap hands with another player!
  • The Mercy Rule means that if any player gets 25+ cards in their hand, they are out of the game!

Happy Hour events are described as recurring and weekly, but schedules can change. If a particular event matters to your group, check the current game or publisher notice rather than relying on an old calendar. Event availability can also be different from the permanent content included with a purchase.

Downloadable variants and themed content

The publisher highlights downloadable variants and cosmetic content, including:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • UNO Flip!
  • Party! Mania
  • Show ’Em No Mercy
  • Flex
  • Themed content

The displayed downloadable-content catalog and prices depend on the storefront and can change. Treat the names as the available content Ubisoft calls out, not as a promise that every item is included with every purchase. Some content may appear as a separate purchase, while an edition bundle may include selected items; only the specific regional listing can answer which situation applies to you.

That distinction is especially important if you are buying for a group. If one person owns a bundle with an additional ruleset and another owns only the base product, the group should not assume that both accounts have identical content. Confirm the included add-ons for each buyer before scheduling a session around a particular variant.

Ubisoft editions: check the bundle before you buy

Ubisoft support material lists Standard Edition, Legacy Edition and Ultimate Edition. The bundles differ in the downloadable content they include. Ubisoft also tells customers to check with the retailer because included content can vary by region.

  • Standard Edition: a listed Ubisoft edition; the specific included content must be read on the buyer’s storefront.
  • Legacy Edition: a separate bundle whose downloadable-content package may differ from Standard.
  • Ultimate Edition: a bundle with its own downloadable-content mix; do not assume every named variant is included without checking the listing.

Before paying, open the exact regional store page and verify the edition name, platform, included add-ons, language information, refund terms and current price. A price shown in one country’s store should not be reused as an evergreen price for another region. Taxes, promotions, currency conversion and local availability can all alter the final amount.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Look at the itemized contents rather than choosing solely by the word “Ultimate” or “Legacy.” If the page names a desired variant, make sure it says that variant is included, not merely shown in promotional artwork. If it is not included, determine whether it is offered separately and whether the base game is required.

PC requirements for Ubisoft UNO

Ubisoft’s support result labels these specifications as updated September 12, 2023. They target 1080p output at the stated frame rate. Confirm them against the current PC store page because hardware requirements and supported operating systems can change.

Target Operating system Processor Memory Graphics Storage
Minimum: 1080p at 30 fps Windows 10 64-bit AMD FX-4150 Quad-Core at 4 GHz or Intel Pentium G860 at 3 GHz, or better 4 GB RAM AMD Radeon HD 6670 with 1 GB or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti with 1 GB, or better 2 GB available
Recommended: 1080p at 60 fps Windows 10 64-bit AMD FX-6300 at 3.8 GHz or Intel Core i3-2100 at 3.1 GHz, or better 6 GB RAM AMD Radeon R7 260 with 2 GB or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 with 2 GB, or better 2 GB available

Ubisoft notes that laptop graphics cards may work when their performance is similar to the minimum requirement. A model number alone does not guarantee equivalent performance, particularly in thin laptops with power limits, so compare the actual GPU capability and confirm the current store requirements.

Mattel Games UNO Card Game with 2 Add On Packs with Storage Tin | Includes UNO Deck and 2 Add-On Packs for Kids, Teens & Family Game Night for Ages 7+, 2-10 Players (Amazon Exclusive)
  • UNO card game in collectible tin container provides classic play, matching colors or numbers in a race to get rid of cards!
  • Includes 2 Add-On Packs, each with 16 cards to customize the game deck!
  • Reverse Add-On Pack cards give players several ways to change the direction of play!
  • Stack Add-On Pack cards may have players calling each other names as they add more (and more) cards to their stack of cards!
  • When you're down to one card, don't forget to yell 'UNO!' Keep score and the first player or team to 500 wins!

The two targets answer different questions. The minimum specification is tied to 1080p at 30 frames per second; it is not a promise of 1080p/60. The recommended specification is the relevant benchmark if you specifically want 1080p at 60 fps. Your actual result can still depend on system configuration, drivers and background software, so these figures should be used as purchasing guidance rather than an independent performance test.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The storage figure is 2 GB available for both listed targets. Leave additional free space for operating-system files and updates, even though the support table itself lists 2 GB. Most importantly, verify that your Windows installation is 64-bit and that your laptop GPU is comparable in performance, not merely similar in marketing name.

Supported controllers

Ubisoft’s support list is platform-specific. Using a controller outside this list may work, but Ubisoft does not officially support every model and says third-party software might be required.

Platform Controllers Ubisoft lists
Nintendo Switch Joy-Con and Pro Controller
PC Keyboard and mouse; Luna Controller; Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2; Xbox Wireless Controller
PlayStation 4 DualShock 4
PlayStation 5 DualSense and DualSense Edge
Xbox One and Xbox Series Xbox One/Series controllers listed by Ubisoft

For a console purchase, the first-party controller listed for that platform is the least ambiguous choice. On PC, keyboard and mouse are explicitly listed, as are the named Luna and Xbox controllers. An unlisted gamepad might function, but do not treat that as an official compatibility guarantee; Ubisoft says third-party software may be necessary.

How to decide before downloading or purchasing

  1. Start with the device. Select Ubisoft UNO for a listed PC or console platform. Select UNO! Mobile for a phone or tablet using Apple App Store or Google Play.
  2. Identify the people you will play with. Make sure everyone is choosing the same product family. A friend on UNO! Mobile should not be assumed to share a lobby with someone on Ubisoft UNO.
  3. Check the exact store region. Review availability, edition name, included downloadable content and current price in the storefront attached to your account.
  4. Match the edition to the content you want. If you want a named variant such as UNO Flip!, Party! Mania, Show ’Em No Mercy or Flex, confirm that the selected bundle includes it or that it is sold separately.
  5. Verify hardware on PC. Compare your Windows version, processor, RAM, GPU and free storage with Ubisoft’s minimum or recommended table. For a 60-fps 1080p target, use the recommended specification as the relevant benchmark.
  6. Confirm input support. On consoles, use the listed first-party controller. On PC, keyboard and mouse are listed alongside specific Xbox and Luna controllers; other devices may need third-party software.
  7. Check current service information. Mobile maintenance notices and store listings can change. Read the latest notice if uninterrupted access, a tournament or a particular device is important.
  8. Coordinate expectations. Tell your group which platform, edition and ruleset you selected. A shared title or brand name does not establish shared lobbies, accounts or downloadable-content access.
  9. Keep purchase records. Save the store receipt and edition name. If a bundle’s content is unclear later, those details identify the exact transaction and regional listing you used.

What is and is not established about cross-play

The official information confirms the platform lists and describes social play in Ubisoft UNO, but it does not confirm cross-play between PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC. It also does not confirm any connection between those versions and UNO! Mobile. Treat each platform family as separate unless a current official support page explicitly states otherwise.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This distinction matters when organizing a group: agree on the exact product and platform before buying downloadable content or scheduling a session. A shared UNO brand name is not proof of shared matchmaking or account progression. If cross-platform play is the deciding factor, look for an explicit, current statement from the operator rather than inferring it from the fact that the game appears on several systems.

Availability, maintenance and changing store data

Ubisoft’s product page is the authority for the game description and listed platforms, while its support material supplies the edition and compatibility details. Those pages describe publisher offerings, not guaranteed availability in every regional store. Store catalogs, bundle contents and prices are changeable.

Mattel’s UNO! Mobile website links to the current mobile stores and displayed dated maintenance and tournament notices in 2026. That indicates ongoing service activity at that check, but it does not promise uninterrupted service, identical updates or identical features across iOS and Android devices.

For either product, check the live listing immediately before purchase or installation. A game can remain officially documented while a particular regional storefront changes its price, bundle, supported language, age rating or availability. The current listing is more useful for those transactional details than an older announcement or a screenshot shared by another player.

Common buying mistakes to avoid

  • Assuming the mobile app is a port of the console game: the official sources identify separate products.
  • Buying by edition name alone: Standard, Legacy and Ultimate bundles can contain different downloadable content, and regional packages may vary.
  • Using a displayed foreign price as a local price: storefront currency, taxes, promotions and availability are regional and change over time.
  • Promising cross-play to friends: it was not established across Ubisoft platforms or between Ubisoft UNO and UNO! Mobile.
  • Ignoring PC targets: minimum specifications describe 1080p/30 fps, while the recommended list is for 1080p/60 fps.
  • Expecting every controller to be supported: Ubisoft lists specific devices and warns that others may need third-party software.
  • Buying a physical deck as a requirement: tabletop cards are an optional offline alternative, not an accessory for either digital game.
  • Assuming every add-on is included: named variants and cosmetics may be separate or edition-specific.
  • Treating maintenance notices as guarantees: a dated mobile notice shows service activity at that time, not permanent uptime or identical operation on every device.
  • Confusing a release date with current availability: August 16, 2016 is Ubisoft’s listed release date, not a promise about every store today.

Frequently asked questions

Which UNO game is best for my device?

Use Ubisoft UNO on Windows PC, PlayStation 4 or 5, Xbox One or Series X|S, or Nintendo Switch. Use UNO! Mobile on an iPhone, iPad or Android device through the store links on Mattel’s official site. A physical deck is the offline alternative.

What is the difference between UNO and UNO! Mobile?

Ubisoft UNO is the PC and console product. UNO! Mobile is a distinct mobile service operated by Mattel Game Studios HK Limited. The official pages do not establish identical modes, monetization, accounts, matchmaking or cross-play.

Can mobile players join people on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch or PC?

That connection was not confirmed by the official material. Do not promise a shared lobby between UNO! Mobile and Ubisoft UNO. Check a current support statement if this is essential.

Does Ubisoft UNO support solo play?

Ubisoft’s product description says players can play solo or with friends. The statement is publisher-provided; the exact available modes can depend on the current version and platform.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Are UNO Flip!, Party! Mania, Show ’Em No Mercy and Flex included?

Ubisoft highlights these as downloadable variants or content, but inclusion depends on the edition and storefront. Read the itemized contents of Standard, Legacy or Ultimate before buying.

How much does Ubisoft UNO cost?

No single evergreen price applies. Ubisoft’s displayed catalog and prices are storefront-dependent and can change by region, promotion, taxes and edition. Check the store attached to your account.

What PC specification should I target?

For the listed 1080p/30-fps minimum, Ubisoft specifies Windows 10 64-bit, 4 GB RAM, the listed FX-4150 or Pentium G860 class processor, a Radeon HD 6670 or GTX 550 Ti with 1 GB, and 2 GB storage. For listed 1080p/60-fps recommended performance, it specifies 6 GB RAM, an FX-6300 or Core i3-2100 class processor, a Radeon R7 260 or GTX 950 with 2 GB, and 2 GB storage. Verify the current store page before installation.

Can I use any controller on PC?

Ubisoft officially lists keyboard and mouse, Luna Controller, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and Xbox Wireless Controller. Other controllers may work but are not officially supported and may require third-party software.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is a physical UNO deck needed?

No. A physical deck is simply an optional offline way to play. It is not required for Ubisoft UNO or UNO! Mobile.

Bottom-line decision

Pick Ubisoft UNO for the publisher’s PC, PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo Switch game and its advertised customization, Happy Hour events and downloadable variants. Pick UNO! Mobile for the separate official iOS or Android app. Once you know the device, verify the current regional listing, edition contents, controller support and PC requirements; those checks matter more than choosing a generic “best” version.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which UNO game should I play on a console or PC?

Ubisoft UNO is the listed choice for Windows PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.

Cross-play was not confirmed by the official information. Check a current support page before assuming players can share a lobby.

Are downloadable variants automatically included?

Not necessarily. Ubisoft calls out UNO Flip!, Party! Mania, Show ’Em No Mercy, Flex and themed content, but inclusion depends on the edition and store listing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do I need a physical UNO deck to play digitally?

No. A physical deck is an optional offline alternative, not an accessory required by either digital game.

The Bottom Line

Choose by device first: Ubisoft UNO for listed PC and console platforms, UNO! Mobile for iOS and Android. Then verify the regional edition, add-ons, requirements and controller support; do not assume cross-play or identical content.
