Battery-hour figures and megapixel counts are manufacturer specifications, not independent measures of everyday endurance or photo quality. Choose it if you want a current Samsung option and prefer its listed storage flexibility over the lower entry price of the A26.

What to verify before you buy
Under-$500 models can differ in ways that matter more than their headline prices. Compare the precise SKU and carrier support, not just the family name.
- Final unlocked price: Check the amount due without trade-in credits or a carrier plan. Confirm whether a displayed markdown is still active.
- Storage: Verify the capacity in the cart. In particular, only the moto g stylus 128GB configuration is listed below $500; its 256GB version is above budget.
- Display and cameras: Compare screen size and refresh rate, and check whether you need an ultrawide or telephoto camera. A megapixel count does not by itself predict image quality.

Why the Google Pixel 10a is not a confirmed pick
Google announced a $499 starting price for the Pixel 10a on February 18, 2026, but the Google Store pages reviewed showed inconsistent current figures: one displayed $499 and another $524 (from $599). That makes it a plausible near-miss, not a reliably confirmed under-$500 purchase at the time those pages were checked. Recheck the live listing and checkout total if you are considering it. Google’s specifications state a 6.3-inch display, a typical 5,100mAh battery and seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates from first availability on the Google Store in the U.S.; those specifications do not resolve the price discrepancy.
Google Product Manager Laura Kastilani described the product positioning in the February 18 announcement: “Our Pixel A-series phones always offer our most helpful features at an accessible price point.” That is Google’s own characterization, not an independent assessment. - Set the actual ceiling. Decide whether $500 is the phone’s pre-tax price or your total budget, then exclude any configuration that exceeds it.

- Check the exact listing. Confirm storage, unlocked status, current price, stock and carrier compatibility on the seller’s live page.
- Compare support and real-world reviews. Verify the update commitment and durability rating, then consult testing for performance, camera quality and battery life rather than treating specifications as test results.
