Start with the preset or cooking chart for your exact microwave air fryer combo. There is no universal temperature-and-time chart: controls, portions, accessories, and cooking steps vary by model. If your appliance offers a matching preset, use it; enter manual settings only when its instructions provide them.
What settings should you use for common foods?
These examples come from specific manufacturers’ instructions. Treat them as model-specific guidance, not settings to copy automatically to another combo oven.

Whirlpool’s countertop presets P2–P8 include roast potatoes, broccoli, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, chicken nuggets, chicken wings, and French fries. Its chart gives quantities for some foods, including 6–18 oz of nuggets, 8–20 oz of wings, and one to four servings of fries. Check your own manual for the matching preset and portion.

Even instructions for the same food can differ because ovens use different accessories, arrangements, portions, and controls. Panasonic’s NN-CD87 chart, for example, lists thin frozen fries at 20–30 minutes for 8–16 oz and 30–40 minutes for 16–32 oz. It lists frozen chicken nuggets at 20–30 minutes for 16–40 oz, and homemade fries at 30–40 minutes for 16–32 oz. For larger quantities, Panasonic advises stirring at two-thirds of the total cooking time. Those examples apply to the NN-CD87 instructions and setup, not to other microwave air fryer combos.

Do not assume that doubling the amount means doubling the cooking time. Find the chart entry for the actual food and quantity; if your portion falls outside the listed range, consult the manual rather than extrapolating.
How to choose the right setting on your appliance
- Identify the exact model. Find its manual, recipe chart, and any cooking guidance printed inside the appliance. Whirlpool notes that an interior sticker may provide guidance.
- Choose the matching preset. Use a named air-fry preset when it matches the food and portion. If you need manual temperature and time, use values specified for your model.
- Set up the accessories as directed. Follow the manual’s instructions for basket, rack, tray, and turntable placement. Whirlpool says to center its basket and ensure it does not touch the cavity wall. Panasonic specifies a basket on a wire rack and an enamel tray for the NN-CD87.
- Use the stated portion and preparation. Match the listed weight or servings, and follow directions about single layers, food shape, and spacing.
- Turn, flip, or stir when instructed. Follow the recipe prompt or chart rather than assuming every food needs the same mid-cycle step.
Why you should not combine charts from different appliances
Settings from another type of air fryer are not a substitute for your microwave combo’s instructions. Hamilton Beach’s air-fryer manual, for example, lists 375°F for regular frozen fries and 350°F for cauliflower, but those are instructions for a different appliance category—not microwave-combo settings.

Manufacturer guidance also differs in how it presents cooking: one model may offer presets and quantity choices, while another may require you to enter a temperature and time. The cited sources do not establish a validated formula for converting settings between models.

What to check before starting
- Confirm that the chart applies to your exact make and model and to the air-fry function, not a microwave-only or combination mode.
- Match the food’s preparation and amount to the listed chart entry.
- Use only the accessories and placement specified for your appliance; do not assume another model’s basket or rack will fit.
- Follow instructions to cook in a single layer or to turn, flip, or stir at a specified point.
- Use a separate authoritative food-safety source for safe internal temperatures. The cooking-setting examples here do not establish doneness thresholds.
