Choose the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra for its larger 14.6-inch display and listed 1 TB configuration; choose the Galaxy Tab S12+ for a large screen in a lighter 553 g Wi-Fi model. Both share the same processor, 120 Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology, included S Pen, and support for microSD cards up to 2 TB.
Samsung announced the two models on September 30, 2026. Availability is scheduled to begin October 7 in select markets, not necessarily everywhere at once. Check your local Samsung listing for release timing, stock, exact configuration, and price.

Samsung lists the same processor and display technology for both, so its published specifications do not establish a processing advantage for either. The listed Wi-Fi weights are for Wi-Fi models: Samsung gives 695 g for the Ultra 5G model and 555 g for the S12+ 5G model. Regional configurations can differ. Samsung’s global launch specifications and its US product page provide market-specific details.

Which Galaxy Tab S12 model should I buy?
Choose the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra if screen area comes first
- You want more room for drawing, long documents, or keeping multiple app panes visible.
- You want the lineup’s listed 16 GB memory and 1 TB built-in storage configuration.
- You are willing to carry a heavier tablet for the larger panel.
Choose the Galaxy Tab S12+ if you want a more portable large-screen tablet
- You want a 12.6-inch display but expect to hold or carry the tablet frequently.
- You take notes, read, or handle everyday tasks and do not need the Ultra’s largest display.
- A listed configuration of up to 512 GB built-in storage is sufficient for your apps and offline files.
The 139 g weight difference is between the listed Wi-Fi versions. It is a useful distinction for handheld use, but neither weight by itself predicts comfort for every person or use case.
Is the Galaxy Tab S12+ big enough, or should I get the Ultra?
Think about what needs to fit on screen at the same time. If you often compare documents, keep a reference beside a writing or drawing app, or want a broader canvas, the Ultra’s 14.6-inch diagonal gives you more room. If your normal routine is reading, note-taking, or using one main app at a time, the S12+ may be the more manageable choice.
Both displays are specified as 120 Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X, but resolution differs: 2960 × 1848 on the Ultra and 2800 × 1752 on the S12+. The larger diagonal is the main practical distinction; the specifications alone do not establish which screen will feel better for a particular task.

Does storage, Wi-Fi, or battery change the decision?
Storage
The Ultra is the only model with a listed 1 TB built-in storage option, paired with 16 GB of memory. Both models also have 256 GB and 512 GB options with 12 GB memory. Samsung specifies microSD expansion up to 2 TB for either tablet, which can suit additional files, though it does not change the model’s built-in storage configuration.
Wireless networking
Samsung lists Wi-Fi 7 for the Ultra and Wi-Fi 6E for the S12+. Consider this difference only alongside your router and the exact regional device configuration you plan to buy. Samsung’s global announcement lists 5G for both models; verify the local SKU rather than assuming every market offers the same connectivity combinations.
Battery
The manufacturer specifications are 11,600 mAh for the Ultra and 10,600 mAh for the S12+, with 45 W charging listed for both. Samsung’s US page estimates up to 23 hours of video playback for the Ultra and up to 21 hours for the S12+. Those are Samsung’s estimates, not independently measured results, and actual runtime depends on use and settings.

What comes in the box, and what should you check before buying?
Both tablets include an S Pen and have an IP68 rating. Samsung says the in-box S Pen does not support BLE, so do not expect Bluetooth remote-control functions from that pen.
Samsung names the Pro Keyboard, Book Cover Keyboard Slim, Book Cover, and anti-reflecting screen protector as series accessories, and lists a Frame Cover for the Ultra. Confirm that a cover or keyboard fits the exact model you are buying. If you plan to add storage, check the device listing and card capacity before choosing a microSD card; Samsung confirms expansion support, but that alone does not verify a particular third-party card or its availability.
Samsung’s US launch material describes Care+ protection that includes accidental-damage coverage. Terms, enrollment windows, cost, and covered events vary by market; consult the local Samsung coverage details before relying on it.
Samsung says the S12 series is eligible for up to seven OS upgrades and security updates. Check local support terms for the applicable details. For availability, regional specifications, and official accessories, consult Samsung’s global announcement, the Samsung US Galaxy Tab S12 page, and Samsung’s tablet comparison page.
