Which display is better for your use?
The Redmi’s 1.5K AMOLED panel has the more detailed display specification and AMOLED’s contrast characteristics; Xiaomi also lists 12-bit colour and peak brightness up to 3500 nits. The realme’s stated advantage is its higher refresh-rate ceiling: 144Hz versus Redmi’s 120Hz. A refresh-rate figure alone does not make a screen better overall, especially when the comparison listing describes the realme as HD+ LCD while Redmi is 1.5K AMOLED.
Choose based on what matters most: Redmi’s listed resolution and panel type favour detail and contrast, while realme advertises a higher maximum refresh rate. Actual brightness and smoothness can depend on settings and content.

What do the camera specifications tell you?
Redmi documents a 50MP OIS main camera and an 8MP ultrawide, giving it a clearly listed wider-angle option. Its 16MP front camera also has a higher stated resolution than the realme listing’s 8MP front camera. The realme store identifies a 50MP rear camera but does not establish an equivalent ultrawide configuration in the cited listing.

Which battery and charging claims matter?
Xiaomi lists the Redmi with a 9000mAh typical-capacity battery, 67W charging and 22.5W wired reverse charging. realme lists a 7000mAh battery and 45W charging. Those rated figures give Redmi the larger stated capacity and faster charging specification, but they are not a head-to-head runtime test; capacity alone cannot determine how long a phone lasts in your use.

Xiaomi says its internal labs measured more than 3.5 days on one charge under a simulated light-use scenario. Xiaomi also cautions that actual results vary with testing environment, software version, network conditions and individual usage. This is a Xiaomi internal test claim, not an independent result or a directly comparable realme measurement. Xiaomi’s product page also states that the battery retains 80% capacity after 1600 charge cycles, attributing the figure to TÜV SÜD certification.

How should you compare the prices?
On the realme India store page observed in 2026, the Glory White 4GB+128GB configuration was displayed at ₹28,999 alongside a ₹48,999 maximum retail price and promotional language. Treat ₹28,999 as a page-displayed price, not a guaranteed future price. Xiaomi’s reviewed official specifications and FAQ did not give a current Redmi selling price, so there is no verified price gap to report.
Before buying, check the current India price and stock for the exact Redmi variant and compare it with the same storage tier where possible. The cited realme price is for 4GB+128GB, while Xiaomi lists 8GB RAM configurations; a comparison between unlike configurations can mislead. Confirm applicable offers and final checkout prices rather than treating an advertised price or MRP as a like-for-like deal.

What about updates and what comes in the box?
Xiaomi states that the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3 and will receive four years of OS updates and six years of security patches. The reviewed realme store page did not state an equivalent support duration, so the available information does not support a like-for-like support-period comparison.

Xiaomi lists an adapter, USB Type-C cable, SIM tool, protective case and quick-start/warranty guide; its FAQ says the 67W adapter is included. Package contents can depend on the regional sale, so verify the precise listing.

Which phone is the better fit?
- Choose the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G if you prioritise its listed 1.5K AMOLED display, OIS main and ultrawide rear cameras, larger stated battery, faster rated charging or Xiaomi’s stated update schedule.
- Consider the realme 16x 5G if its advertised 144Hz refresh rate is important to you and its exact configuration and live price suit your budget. The cited ₹28,999 store price is for 4GB+128GB and is not proof that it is cheaper than the Redmi.
Neither specification sheet establishes a real-world performance, camera or endurance winner. For value, first compare current prices for equivalent configurations; for other priorities, choose the listed features that matter most to you.
