Which display is better?
The Redmi Note 17 5G has the larger screen at 6.99 inches, compared with 6.83 inches on the vivo. The vivo’s published 2800 × 1260 resolution is higher than the Redmi’s 2396 × 1080, and 91mobiles lists the vivo at 144Hz versus Xiaomi India’s up-to-120Hz figure for the Redmi.

So the choice is not simply “bigger is better”: choose the Redmi if screen area matters most, or the vivo if you prefer the higher stated resolution and refresh rate. These specifications alone do not establish which screen looks better in person.

How do the cameras compare?
The vivo pairs a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Xiaomi India lists a 50MP rear camera for the Redmi. The vivo also has a higher stated front-camera resolution: 32MP versus 8MP on the India-market Redmi.
Those figures describe camera hardware, not photo quality. Megapixel counts alone do not show how well a phone handles focus, low light, color or video, so do not treat the higher selfie-camera resolution as proof of better selfies.

Battery capacity, charging and reported runtime
Xiaomi India lists an 8000mAh typical battery and 45W wired charging for the Redmi; vivo lists 7050mAh and 44W for the T5. The Redmi therefore has the larger stated capacity, but capacity is not the same as measured battery life.

Durability and software support
vivo advertises IP68 and IP69 protection for the T5, while Xiaomi India lists IP65 for the Redmi. These are manufacturer-listed ratings, not guarantees against every kind of water or dust exposure; follow each maker’s terms and limits.
For software support, Xiaomi says the Redmi Note 17 5G receives four years of OS updates and six years of security updates. 91mobiles lists three OS-update years and five security-update years for the vivo, but that comparison is not a manufacturer support statement. Check current manufacturer documentation for the applicable update commitment before making long-term support a deciding factor.

India price difference: ₹7,000 in the captured listings
The cited listings show ₹34,999 for vivo’s selected T5 6GB/128GB configuration and ₹27,999 for the Redmi Note 17 5G on Amazon India according to 91mobiles—a ₹7,000 difference in that snapshot. The figures were recorded from pages accessed on October 7, 2026. They do not establish matching storage configurations, final checkout prices, seller details or ongoing stock, so check the live listing and exact model before buying.

Check the Redmi’s region before comparing
Redmi Note 17 5G specifications vary by market. Xiaomi India lists an 8000mAh typical battery and an 8MP front camera, while Xiaomi UK lists a 7700mAh battery and a 16MP front camera. Do not combine those regional figures into one global specification; use the page for the country where you plan to buy.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose the vivo T5 5G if you value its higher published display resolution and refresh rate, OIS plus an ultra-wide rear camera, 32MP front camera or advertised IP68/IP69 protection.
- Choose the Redmi Note 17 5G if you want the larger display, higher India-listed battery capacity or the lower price shown in the cited snapshot.
