The Xiaomi 17T is the stronger fit on paper if you want a listed telephoto camera, a higher-tier named chipset and faster wired charging. The TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G gives you a larger display with a higher maximum refresh rate. Both list a 6500mAh battery, so specifications alone do not establish which lasts longer or is the better overall buy.

Which display is the better fit?
Choose the POVA 8 Pro 5G for more screen area and a higher refresh-rate ceiling
TECNO lists a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with refresh rates up to 144Hz. Its larger listed diagonal may be useful for reading, video and games, while the higher refresh-rate ceiling may make supported motion look smoother. Refresh rate by itself does not establish brightness, color accuracy, outdoor visibility or overall panel quality.
Choose the Xiaomi 17T if you prefer a smaller listed panel
Xiaomi lists a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED screen at 2756 × 1268 pixels and up to 120Hz. The POVA’s listed resolution is 2644 × 1208. The diagonal and resolution figures are not enough to determine which display looks better in person; brightness and calibration matter too.

How do their processors compare?
The Xiaomi 17T lists a MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra, while TECNO lists a Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G. Those names suggest different processor tiers, but they are not a substitute for comparable independent benchmarks or sustained-use tests. If demanding games, video editing or long workloads are decisive, look for tests that evaluate the exact regional models under the same conditions rather than relying on chipset labels alone.
What do the camera specifications tell you?
Xiaomi’s listed advantage is a telephoto camera
Xiaomi’s product page describes a 50MP 5x periscope telephoto camera, and its specifications list a 12MP ultra-wide. That gives the 17T a distinct camera type on paper for distant subjects. A zoom label or megapixel count cannot establish how much detail images retain, how the camera performs in low light or how consistent the processing is.

TECNO lists optical stabilization on its main camera
The POVA 8 Pro 5G’s official specifications list a 50MP OIS main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide and a 13MP front camera. Optical image stabilization is a hardware feature, but it does not alone prove that this phone will take better photos or video. Compare credible sample images and video from the exact models before making image quality the deciding factor.
Battery capacity and charging: what is established?
Both companies list a 6500mAh battery. Xiaomi advertises 67W HyperCharge and TECNO 45W Super Charge, so Xiaomi has the higher stated wired-charging power. These figures do not establish real-world battery life or a specific charging time; usage, software, temperature, charger and test conditions affect both.

Xiaomi says the 17T box does not include a power adapter, recommends a Xiaomi 67W adapter or above, and notes support for PPS-compatible adapters up to 50W. Check the box contents and charging compatibility for the phone sold in your market before buying a charger. The specifications cited here do not establish whether an adapter is included with every regional POVA 8 Pro 5G package.
RAM and storage: compare like with like
Xiaomi lists 12GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB. TECNO lists 256GB or 512GB storage alongside combinations of physical RAM and extended RAM. Extended RAM is virtual or extended memory, not an equivalent amount of physical RAM. When comparing prices or multitasking capacity, check the specific configuration shown by the seller and distinguish physical memory from any extended-memory figure.

Is there a reliable price difference?
No current same-market price pair is established here. Prices can vary by country, storage capacity, taxes, seller and promotion, and an older comparison listing is not a dependable current quote. To find the meaningful difference, compare the same storage configuration from comparable sellers in your country on the same date, and check whether the listed price includes the charger and local warranty.
Which phone should you choose?
- Lean toward the Xiaomi 17T if its listed telephoto camera, Dimensity 8500-Ultra or higher advertised wired-charging power best matches your priorities.
- Lean toward the TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G if you value its larger listed display and 144Hz maximum refresh-rate specification.
- Do not decide on battery life, camera quality or sustained speed from these specifications alone. Reliable head-to-head testing is needed to settle those real-use questions.
- Compare local prices only after matching storage and seller conditions. The more attractive specification sheet may not be the better value at a different price.
TECNO advertises IP69K/69/68/66 dust and water resistance for the POVA 8 Pro 5G. Before treating that as a buying advantage, confirm the exact certification wording, regional model and warranty exclusions for the unit sold in your market.
