The Samsung Galaxy A17 5G and realme 16x 5G make different trade-offs: Samsung lists a sharper Super AMOLED display and a defined software-update commitment, while realme lists a larger battery, faster charging and a higher refresh rate. Their available India price figures are not directly comparable: Samsung’s are launch prices, while realme’s is a store snapshot for a different memory configuration.
India price: the available figures are not like-for-like
Samsung India announced these Galaxy A17 5G launch prices in 2025. They are not verified current retail prices. The realme figure below is the price displayed for a selected configuration on the realme India Store when accessed in 2026; store prices and promotions can change.

| Phone and configuration | Price figure | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy A17 5G, 6GB+128GB | ₹18,999 | Samsung India launch price, 2025 |
| Galaxy A17 5G, 8GB+128GB | ₹20,499 | Samsung India launch price, 2025 |
| Galaxy A17 5G, 8GB+256GB | ₹23,499 | Samsung India launch price, 2025 |
| realme 16x 5G, 4GB+128GB | ₹28,999 | Selected selling-price snapshot on the realme India Store, accessed in 2026 |
Those numbers do not establish a current price difference: the Samsung amounts are historical launch prices and the realme amount is for a 4GB+128GB model. The realme India Store also lists 6GB+128GB and 6GB+256GB configurations, but the cited snapshot does not establish their prices. For a fair comparison, check both brands’ India listings or retailers on the same day and compare matching storage tiers. Samsung Newsroom India lists the Galaxy A17 launch prices; the realme India Store is the source for its selected configuration’s displayed price.

Samsung specifies a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen at 1080 × 2340 resolution and up to 90 Hz. realme lists a slightly larger 6.81-inch LCD at 1570 × 720 and up to 144 Hz. On listed specifications, the Samsung has the higher resolution and AMOLED panel; the realme offers the higher refresh rate and larger screen. Refresh rate alone does not determine overall display quality: resolution and panel type matter too.

Battery and charging: realme lists the larger capacity
Samsung lists a 5000 mAh battery and 25 W charging for the Galaxy A17 5G. realme lists a 7000 mAh typical-capacity battery and 45 W charging for the 16x 5G. Those specifications favor realme for stated capacity and charging rate, but they do not establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use or how quickly either charges in practice; no controlled comparative battery or charging tests are established here.

Performance, cameras and storage
The Galaxy A17 5G uses Samsung’s listed 5 nm Exynos 1330 processor. realme lists the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 for the 16x 5G. Without comparable benchmark results or tests, those chipset names alone do not show which phone is faster for a particular workload.
| Specification | Samsung Galaxy A17 5G | realme 16x 5G |
|---|---|---|
| Rear cameras | 50 MP + 5 MP + 2 MP; Samsung lists OIS for the rear camera | 50 MP |
| Front camera | 13 MP | 8 MP |
| India-listed memory/storage options | 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB | 4GB+128GB, 6GB+128GB, 6GB+256GB |
| Storage expansion | microSD expansion up to 2TB, according to Samsung’s launch announcement | Expandable memory listed; maximum capacity not stated in the cited India store listing |
These are published specifications, not evidence that one camera produces better photos. Check the exact variant and card compatibility before buying, particularly if expandable storage is important. Samsung’s details are in its India product specifications and India launch announcement; realme’s are on its India Store listing.

Software support and durability
Samsung says the Galaxy A17 5G ships with One UI 7 and promises six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates. Samsung Newsroom India calls this “segment’s best”; that is Samsung’s promotional claim, not an independent ranking. The sources cited here do not establish a comparable support-duration promise for the India-market realme 16x 5G, so the absence of one in this comparison should not be read as proof that realme will provide no updates.
Samsung’s launch announcement lists IP54 dust and splash resistance and microSD expansion up to 2TB. The realme India Store listing says memory is expandable and that a charger and protective case are included in the box; it does not establish an IP rating in the cited information. Confirm the exact regional configuration and box contents with the seller before purchase.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy A17 5G if you prioritize a higher-resolution AMOLED display, Samsung’s stated long-term Android and security-update commitment, rear-camera OIS, or the listed IP54 rating. Decide among its memory tiers using a current price rather than the historical launch figures.
- Consider the realme 16x 5G if its listed 7000 mAh typical battery, 45 W charging, up-to-144 Hz refresh rate, or included charger and case suit your priorities. Check the precise memory variant and current price: the cited ₹28,999 store snapshot is for 4GB+128GB, not a matched configuration.
Both phones are India-market products in this comparison. For another country, verify local specifications, network compatibility, warranty and retail pricing through that market’s official listings; regional configurations can differ. For example, realme’s Brazil specifications page lists market-specific details that should not be assumed to apply to India.
