After an OriginOS update, review the settings that affect app privacy, battery use, display comfort, and the Control Center—but do not assume the update reset them. Menus and features vary by Vivo model, region, and OriginOS version, so use Settings search when a path differs and confirm changes on your own phone.
Check your OriginOS version first
Open Settings and look for About phone, or search Settings for “version” or “OriginOS.” The exact label and location can differ by model and build. This guide covers settings to review, not a guarantee that every option appears on every Vivo phone.

Vivo says OriginOS 7 feature availability can vary by device model, system version, region, and third-party services. Its OriginOS 6 page also identifies some features as available only on select models. Check the feature list for your version at vivo’s OriginOS 7 page and vivo’s OriginOS 6 page.
Review app permissions and notification access
Use Settings search for “permission” or “privacy” if you cannot find the relevant menu. Check each app’s access to location, camera, microphone, photos or files, and notifications. Keep access that supports features you actually use—for example, navigation may need location access—and remove access that is no longer appropriate.

Vivo describes permission activity logs and suggestions for adjusting access when apps use permissions unusually often in OriginOS 7. The feature may not be available on every phone. An older Vivo phone manual also documents permission and notification controls, though its menu labels may not match a current OriginOS build.
Check battery use before restricting apps
Look at battery usage by app and review which apps are active in the background before changing power controls. If an app you rarely use appears to be consuming unusual background power, consider restricting that app rather than applying a broad limit to everything.
Background restrictions can delay notifications or interrupt work an app performs when it is not open. Be cautious with messaging, navigation, wearable-device, and other time-sensitive apps if you depend on their background activity. Vivo’s manual describes battery-usage and background-power controls; exact names and availability can vary.

If battery life seems worse immediately after an update, that timing alone does not establish that the update caused the change. A September 2026 Vivo Community thread records a V27 owner’s battery-drain report, but it does not establish a cause or a confirmed fix: V27 battery drain after September 2026 update.
Set display options for your comfort
Check whether your phone offers adaptive or scenario-based brightness and a night or sleep comfort mode. Vivo lists scenario-adaptive brightness and Sleep Comfort Mode for OriginOS 6, with some features limited to select models; its OriginOS 7 page describes Nighttime Eye Protection 4.0 for select models. See the OriginOS 6 feature page and OriginOS 7 feature page for their stated availability.
Try the options your phone provides and keep the settings that feel comfortable to you. These are personal display preferences, not a guaranteed remedy for eye strain or sleep problems.

Choose how notifications and quick controls appear
On OriginOS 6, a Vivo Community guide published on November 2, 2025, says to search Settings for “Control center” and choose Separate or Merge. Confirm that these options and gestures behave the same way on your model and installed build; the guide is not a universal manual.
| Layout | How it works | Choose it if |
|---|---|---|
| Separate | Swipe down from the right for Control Center and from the left for notifications. | You prefer distinct swipe areas for controls and alerts. |
| Merge | Notifications and controls appear together. | You prefer seeing both in one place. |
Instructions and layout details are from the Vivo Community OriginOS 6 guide. There is no single best layout; use the one that suits how you navigate.
Verify the changes you made
After reviewing settings, check that essential apps still deliver notifications, background features you rely on continue working, and the display and swipe controls behave as expected. If you need guaranteed menu paths, provide your exact Vivo model, region, and installed OriginOS version; without those details, feature availability and labels cannot be confirmed for your device.
