There is no single best Marriott credit card for every traveler. For U.S. applicants, the right fit depends on whether you can use an annual Free Night Award, value included status and Elite Night Credits, or prefer to avoid an annual fee. Marriott’s current comparison lists four distinct options: the Brilliant for premium benefits, the Boundless for an annual award at a lower listed fee, the Bevy for an award earned through spending, and the Bold as a no-annual-fee entry point.
The terms below were checked against official product information available in 2026; fees, awards, earning rates and application offers can change. Confirm the issuer’s current application disclosures before applying.

How to choose a Marriott card for your travel pattern
Start with the benefits you can realistically use, not the advertised maximum. Compare the annual fee with benefits you expect to redeem, then consider how often you stay at Marriott properties, where your everyday spending falls, and whether status progress matters to you.

Check any top-up terms and possible resort fees.
- Value the fee against your own plans: Do not count a credit or award at face value unless it replaces spending you would otherwise make.
- Compare earning against your actual purchases: A Marriott-focused earning structure may be less useful if most of your spending is outside its eligible categories.
- Separate status credits from hotel stays: Card-issued Elite Night Credits help with status progress, but they are not nights you actually stayed.

#1 Best Overall
Which card may suit each kind of Marriott traveler?
Brilliant: premium status and a higher-cap award
The Brilliant pairs automatic Platinum Elite status and 25 Elite Night Credits with an annual award capped at 85,000 points. Its $650 annual fee makes personal usage especially important: assess whether you can redeem the award at a property you want and use enough other recurring benefits to justify the fee. A listed status tier does not guarantee a particular room upgrade or other on-property result.
Boundless: an annual award with a lower listed fee
The Boundless has a $95 annual fee and an annual award capped at 35,000 points. Chase says up to 25,000 points can be added to the award, subject to availability and terms. This can help when a desired redemption is slightly above the cap, but it still depends on award availability and whether the combined redemption works for your plans.
Bevy: an award tied to calendar-year spending
The Bevy award is not automatic: Marriott’s product information says it is earned after $15,000 in eligible purchases in a calendar year and is capped at 50,000 points. Consider the opportunity cost of routing that much spending to the card, and verify current eligible-purchase rules and the card’s live terms. Marriott also lists Gold Elite status, 15 Elite Night Credits, and 4 points per dollar on eligible restaurant and U.S. supermarket purchases up to a combined annual threshold, then 2 points per dollar; confirm those rates and threshold in current product terms.

Bold: a no-annual-fee entry option
Marriott’s U.S. Chase information lists no annual fee, Silver Elite status, and 5 Elite Night Credits per calendar year for the Bold. Its benefit mix differs from cards with annual award certificates. It may fit someone who wants to avoid a fee, but should not be chosen on the assumption that it includes an annual Free Night Award.

How Elite Night Credits affect status
Marriott defines Elite Night Credits as credit for completed qualifying nights that helps a member earn status. A card’s annual credits can accelerate status progress, but they do not replace the hotel’s qualifying-night rules or turn card credits into hotel nights stayed. Marriott’s explanation is available in its Elite Night Credit definition.
Among the cards compared here, the Brilliant lists 25 annual credits, Boundless and Bevy list 15, and Bold lists 5 per calendar year. Choose based on the status progress you need and the stays you expect to complete; do not assume a status tier guarantees a specific upgrade or other fulfillment.
Check award rules and live application terms
Before applying or planning a redemption, confirm the current details with Marriott and the issuer. Award caps are not promises that a room will be available at that price, and participating properties may have additional charges.
