The laptop behind the 40-hour claim is the HP OmniBook 3 16. Mashable reported that a unit with an entry-level Snapdragon X chip lasted 40 hours and 14 minutes in its video-rundown test. That is a result from one publication’s test—not a promise of 40 hours during everyday mixed use.
Which laptop reached 40 hours?
Mashable’s 2026 battery-life coverage names the HP OmniBook 3 16 as its long-running pick. The reported 40 hours and 14 minutes came from a configuration with an entry-level Snapdragon X chip and a video-rundown test. The exact reviewed SKU and the test’s full controls are not established in the available account.

Video rundown is a specific test workload. It should not be read as expected runtime for a workday of browsing, calls, documents, and other mixed tasks. Battery life changes with workload and setup, and the reported result does not establish equivalent mixed-use endurance.
How does it compare with another 2026 result?
PCMag’s 2026 roundup reports 42 hours and 6 minutes for the MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ in PCMag’s video-rundown test, describing it as the publication’s longest-lasting laptop. The figures below are separate publications’ results, not a head-to-head comparison:

| Publication | Laptop | Reported test result | Test context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mashable, 2026 | HP OmniBook 3 16 with entry-level Snapdragon X in the reported configuration | 40 hours, 14 minutes | Video rundown; full controls not established in the available account |
| PCMag, 2026 | MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ | 42 hours, 6 minutes | PCMag video rundown; conditions are not established as identical to Mashable’s |
Because the outlets’ test conditions and review sets are not shown to be identical, the two numbers do not establish which laptop would last longer under the same workload. Each figure supports a narrower conclusion: it was the result reported by that publication using its own test.

The Mashable-derived coverage presents the HP as an option for everyday productivity, travel, and commuting. It does not recommend the laptop for intensive creative workloads or AAA gaming, and it flags possible software compatibility issues associated with its ARM-based Snapdragon platform. Those are the review’s assessments; buyers should check compatibility for the specific applications and games they depend on.

What to check before buying for battery life
- Your workload: Treat a video-rundown figure as a controlled-test result, not a forecast for your own workday.
- Software requirements: Check that essential specialist apps, peripherals, and games work with the Snapdragon X configuration and its software environment.
- Exact configuration: Confirm processor, memory, storage, price, and availability on the listing; these details are not established by the reported result.
- Evidence scope: Use results from the same outlet and test method for the fairest comparisons, and avoid ranking results from different outlets as though they were measured identically.
