Samsung Galaxy AI does not use one universal language list. As of Samsung’s October 14, 2026 announcement, Call Assist (including Live Translate), Note Assist, Interpreter and Transcript Assist support 24 languages. Photo Assist, Creative Studio and Writing Assist have the broadest listed coverage at 41 languages, while Now Nudge, recalled Now Brief data and Call Screening each use narrower 13-language sets. Your country, Galaxy model, carrier, One UI version, Samsung Account, internet connection and downloaded language packs can still change what appears on a particular phone.
Galaxy AI language support at a glance
The most important distinction is between language families and features. A language may be available for rewriting text but unavailable for live phone-call translation. Samsung’s published counts also include regional variants inside a language: English (Australia, India, UK and U.S.) is one language for the count, as are the listed French, Portuguese, Spanish and Chinese variants.

| Call Screening | 13 in the FAQ’s separate list | Screening incoming calls | Separate support list from Live Translate and the other call features. |
The current 24-language list for translation, notes and transcripts
Samsung’s October 2026 update adds Hungarian and Malay to the earlier 22-language set. The resulting 24-language group covers Call Assist (including Live Translate), Note Assist, Interpreter and Transcript Assist:

What each feature does in those 24 languages
Call Assist and Live Translate
Live Translate converts a phone conversation in real time and presents the exchange as translated voice and text. Samsung says a network connection is required to receive call messages, a Samsung Account is required, and some languages need a downloaded language pack. Availability can differ by language or region, so seeing a language in the 24-language announcement does not guarantee it is enabled for every carrier or handset.
Interpreter
Interpreter handles face-to-face speech in listening or conversation mode. Spoken translations can be sent to compatible Galaxy Buds while the translated transcript appears on the Galaxy phone. Samsung notes that a language pack may be needed and that support depends on language, region, device, operating-system or One UI version and carrier. Buds are therefore an audio endpoint for this feature, not a requirement for the on-screen transcript.

Note Assist
Note Assist creates summaries and pre-formatted notes from compatible notes. Samsung’s documentation says language availability varies and that automatic formatting and summarization require at least 200 characters. Shorter notes will not meet that documented threshold even when their language is supported.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Transcript Assist
Transcript Assist transcribes recordings, produces summaries and can translate them. Transcription and summary require a network connection and Samsung Account. Samsung limits supported input to specified Samsung recording apps or files, and the audio must be under three hours. A long recording or an unsupported file type can therefore fail independently of language support.

The 41-language set for Writing Assist, Photo Assist and Creative Studio
Samsung’s 2026 FAQ lists the following 41 languages for Photo Assist, Creative Studio and Writing Assist:
- English
- Portuguese
- Spanish
- French
- Korean
- German
- Italian
- Chinese (Simplified and Traditional)
- Japanese
- Hindi
- Polish
- Thai
- Vietnamese
- Arabic
- Russian
- Indonesian
- Turkish

- Hebrew
- Greek
- Serbian
- Bulgarian
- Croatian
- Norwegian
- Slovak
- Lithuanian
- Slovenian
- Latvian
- Estonian
- Bengali
- Swahili
- Filipino
- Gujarati
Writing Assist
Writing Assist can proofread, reformat, rewrite and summarize selected text, translate it and suggest replies. Its 41-language coverage is broader than the 24-language set used by live translation, interpretation and transcription, so a language that works for a message rewrite may not work for a translated call.

Photo Assist and Creative Studio
These image and creative tools use the same 41-language list in Samsung’s FAQ. The list describes language availability for the feature interface and AI operations; it does not mean every generated image will contain perfect text in every script.
Now Nudge, Now Brief and Call Screening language lists
Now Nudge and recalled Now Brief data
The FAQ snapshot lists 13 languages for Now Nudge and recalled data used by Now Brief: Korean, English, Spanish, Italian, German, French, Portuguese, Polish, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Hindi and Vietnamese. Samsung’s October 2026 announcement says eight additional languages bring Now Nudge to 24. Because the announcement is newer than the FAQ table, the 24-language figure is the current announcement for Now Nudge, while recalled Now Brief data remains documented at 13 in that FAQ snapshot.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.

Call Screening
Call Screening has its own 13-language list: English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Polish, Vietnamese and Hindi. Do not infer Call Screening support from the Live Translate list; Samsung publishes them separately.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why a listed language may not appear on your Galaxy phone
- Model and software: Samsung says Galaxy AI availability can vary by model, region and device software. An older handset or an earlier One UI release may not expose a feature shown in a current announcement.
- Carrier and country: Carrier certification and local availability can restrict call-related functions even when the language itself is listed.
- Samsung Account: Live Translate and Transcript Assist require one for their documented message, transcription or summary functions.
- Internet access: Live Translate call messages and Transcript Assist transcription or summaries require a network connection. Offline behavior should not be assumed.
- Language packs: Samsung says Interpreter and some Live Translate languages may require a download. Without the pack, the language can remain unavailable until installation finishes.
- Input limits: Note Assist’s automatic formatting and summary need at least 200 characters; Transcript Assist accepts specified Samsung recording sources and audio shorter than three hours.
How to get the right language working
- Identify the exact feature. Decide whether you need a translated call, face-to-face interpretation, note summary, recording transcript, writing help, image tools, Now Nudge or call screening. Use that feature’s list rather than the general 41-language list.
- Update the phone. Install the latest software offered for your Galaxy model and carrier. The October 2026 expansion is a rollout, so software version affects when additions appear.
- Sign in to a Samsung Account and connect to the internet. This is required for the documented online portions of Live Translate and Transcript Assist and may be checked when enabling other Galaxy AI functions.
- Download a language pack if prompted. Complete the in-feature download for Interpreter or Live Translate before starting a conversation. Keep the phone connected until the installation completes.
- Choose the regional variant where offered. For English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Chinese, select the variant that matches the speaker or text rather than treating the variants as interchangeable.
- Test with the feature’s limits in mind. Use a note of at least 200 characters for automatic Note Assist formatting or summarization, and keep Transcript Assist recordings under three hours in a supported Samsung recording app or file format.
- Check the device and carrier if the language is still missing. A language appearing in Samsung’s list is not a promise of availability on every model, country or network. Confirm the feature after updates and contact Samsung or the carrier when a documented combination remains unavailable.
Which language set should you rely on?
| If your goal is… | Use this published set | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Translate a phone call or speak with someone in person | 24 languages for Call Assist/Live Translate and Interpreter | Hungarian and Malay were added in October 2026; network, account, language-pack and regional restrictions apply. |
| Summarize notes or recordings | 24 languages for Note Assist and Transcript Assist | Note Assist auto-format/summarize needs 200 characters; Transcript Assist needs supported Samsung input, a network connection and audio under three hours. |
| Rewrite, proofread or translate text | 41 languages for Writing Assist | Support is broader than live translation and is still subject to model and region. |
| Use AI image and creative tools | 41 languages for Photo Assist and Creative Studio | The FAQ’s language list is not a guarantee that every model or market has every tool. |
| Get contextual prompts or recalled daily information | Now Nudge: 24 in the newest announcement; recalled Now Brief data: 13 in the FAQ snapshot | These figures come from different Samsung updates, so rollout status can differ. |
| Screen incoming calls | Separate 13-language Call Screening list | Do not substitute the 24-language translation list. |
What changed from Samsung’s earlier language counts?
Samsung’s 2025 business documentation listed 20 languages for the core translation group and 39 for Writing Assist. The later 2026 FAQ expanded those figures to 22 and 41, respectively. The October 14, 2026 Global Newsroom update then added Hungarian and Malay to Call Assist/Live Translate, Note Assist, Interpreter and Transcript Assist, producing the current announced total of 24. These are expansion milestones, not a promise that every Galaxy generation receives every language simultaneously.
Bottom line for travelers and multilingual users
For conversations, notes and recordings, use the 24-language list and verify the Hungarian or Malay addition has reached your model and region. For writing and image-related AI, consult the broader 41-language list. Treat Now features and Call Screening separately, because their published lists and rollout dates differ. Interpreter’s ability to send spoken translations to Galaxy Buds while showing text on the phone is especially useful when two people need to follow the same exchange, but the phone still determines feature, account, software and regional compatibility.
