There is no single Keyblade inventory shared across the Kingdom Hearts collection. The included games use different equipment systems, and a recent collection-wide guide counts 18 Keyblades in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, 23 attack cards in Re:Chain of Memories, 24 Keyblades in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, 24 Keyblade types in Birth by Sleep Final Mix, 15 in Dream Drop Distance HD, and 16 standard Sora Keyblades in Kingdom Hearts III. Those are separate per-game counts—not a combined collection total.
Here, “unlockable Keyblades” means inventory weapons or cards in the playable games. The 358/2 Days and Re:coded entries in the collection are cinematic compilations, not playable weapon-progression checklists. The available unlock information identifies useful examples and routes, but does not establish the name and exact condition for every item in every game; the lists below distinguish confirmed examples from broader unlock categories rather than guessing at missing entries.

What is included in the Kingdom Hearts I–III collection?
Square Enix’s collection lineup comprises three packages: KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX-, KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC). Square Enix lists the collection for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S with an announced release date of October 8, 2026; Nintendo’s US Switch 2 listing gives the same date. Those listings establish the announced date, not current stock or availability in every territory or edition.
- HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX: Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Re:Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, and Birth by Sleep Final Mix, plus HD cutscene compilations of 358/2 Days and Re:coded.
- HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue: Dream Drop Distance HD, the χ Back Cover movie, and the playable 0.2 Birth by Sleep episode.
- Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind: Kingdom Hearts III and its Re Mind DLC.
The movie compilations do not let you play through the original DS games’ weapon unlocks, and χ Back Cover is also a movie. The counts below apply to the playable games and versions named, not every weapon seen on screen across the series.

How many Keyblades or attack cards does each playable game have?
Gaming.net’s 2026 collection-wide guide reports these per-game counts. They use different definitions, so adding them together would mix equipment, attack cards, and version-specific inventories into a misleading total.
| Playable game and version | Inventory or character scope | Reported count | What the count means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kingdom Hearts Final Mix | Sora’s Keyblades | 18 | Permanent equipment checklist for this version |
| Re:Chain of Memories | Sora’s Keyblade attack cards | 23 | Cards used in the deck-based battle system, not equipment swaps |
| Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix | Sora’s Keyblades | 24 | Permanent equipment checklist for this version |
| Birth by Sleep Final Mix | Keyblade types across its character-specific progress | 24 | A game-wide type count; it does not mean every character gets every Keyblade |
| Dream Drop Distance HD | Keyblades across the game’s character-specific progress | 15 | A game-wide count; check the character or route tied to a reward |
| Kingdom Hearts III | Standard Sora Keyblades | 16 | Standard in-game inventory, separate from the platform-purchase bonus |
The counts are guide-reported, not a universal collection total. They exclude story-only appearances and weapons used by other characters where those are not part of Sora’s permanent equipment checklist. Final Mix and HD versions can also differ from earlier releases, so an original-release list may not match this collection.
How do you unlock Keyblades in each game?
Unlocks fall into several distinct routes: completing a world’s story, revisiting an area for a chest or conversation, clearing optional challenges, meeting minigame or collection conditions, and synthesizing an endgame weapon. The examples below are the specific conditions established by the collection-wide guide; they are not a full item-by-item list.

Kingdom Hearts Final Mix
World completion is one straightforward route: the guide identifies Jungle King after Deep Jungle and Three Wishes after Agrabah. Other Final Mix rewards may require returning to an area, opening a chest, or talking to an NPC after story progress, so an automatic world-clear reward is not the only type of unlock.
Optional combat also pays out Keyblades. The guide lists Diamond Dust for defeating Ice Titan in the Gold Match and One-Winged Angel for defeating Sephiroth in the Platinum Match. These are challenge rewards, not requirements for finishing the main story.
Re:Chain of Memories
This game does not use a conventional Keyblade equipment menu. Sora uses Keyblade attack cards as part of his deck-based combat system. Treat the guide’s 23 entries as card unlocks and deck resources, not as 23 weapons to equip and swap in the manner of the numbered action RPGs.

Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix
Keyblade rewards can be tied to story progress and optional activity, while Ultima Weapon requires synthesis. The guide places the Ultimate Recipe in the Mansion’s Basement Corridor. It says that an Energy Crystal and Moogle level reduce the displayed Orichalcum+ requirement to the seven available in the game, and reports seven Orichalcum+ sources across worlds, a cup, and synthesis collection. The individual locations and full materials procedure are not established here, so use this as a route outline rather than a complete crafting walkthrough.

Its 24 Keyblade types span character-specific progress. In particular, do not assume that a reward earned on one character’s route automatically appears in another character’s inventory. The guide points to optional activities including ice-cream recipes and Rumble Racing, alongside story progress; the exact reward conditions vary by character or route.
Dream Drop Distance HD
The game’s 15 Keyblades are tied to character-specific progress, with Dive ranks and portals among the unlock routes identified by the guide. Check which character and route earned a reward instead of assuming it transfers to both playable characters.

Kingdom Hearts III
The guide counts 16 standard Keyblades for Sora. World clears account for some rewards; others involve Classic Kingdom games, Lucky Emblems, or a cooking-related Grand Chef condition. These are separate kinds of objectives, so finishing a world does not necessarily complete the optional collection.
Kingdom Hearts III also lets you upgrade Keyblades at the Keyblade Forge. Since weapons differ in stats and Formchanges and can be at different upgrade levels, an initial Strength or Magic comparison alone does not establish which one is best for a particular fight.

| Kingdom Hearts III | Obtain 58 different synthesis material types | 7 Orichalcum+, 2 Wellspring Crystals, 2 Lucid Crystals, and 2 Pulsing Crystals |
The Final Mix ingredient list is also confirmed by the community reference consulted for the recipe. For Kingdom Hearts III, the 58 requirement is for different types of synthesis materials; collecting 58 copies of one material does not meet it. These recipes are distinct, and neither should be used as a recipe for Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix.
Which Kingdom Hearts III Keyblade bonus comes with each platform?
Square Enix describes a platform-exclusive Keyblade as a purchase bonus with KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind DLC or the KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III]. The product page names these bonuses:
| Platform named by Square Enix | Bonus Keyblade |
|---|---|
| Nintendo Switch | Long Night |
| PlayStation | Midnight Blue |
| Xbox | Phantom Green |
| Steam | Dead of Night |
Nintendo’s Switch 2 product listing also advertises Long Night with purchase. Square Enix’s platform list says Nintendo Switch, while the newer collection listing is for Switch 2; check the exact platform, territory, and edition shown at purchase rather than assuming every Nintendo edition qualifies. These are purchase bonuses, not chest, boss, or world-completion rewards.
How should you compare Keyblades?
Start with the game and version, then check who can equip the weapon and what progress unlocks it. For a meaningful gameplay comparison, consider:
- Stats: compare Strength and Magic at similar upgrade levels, especially in Kingdom Hearts III.
- Reach and combo behavior: a higher displayed stat does not by itself describe how a weapon handles in combat.
- Abilities and Formchanges: in Kingdom Hearts III, a weapon’s Formchange and ability can matter as much as its initial numbers.
- Effort: separate a world-clear reward from an optional tournament, minigame, collection task, or synthesis grind.
- Character and save route: verify the character inventory in Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance rather than assuming a game-wide reward is shared.
For source context, the collection contents and announced platform/date information above come from Square Enix’s product information and Nintendo’s US Switch 2 listing. The counts, named unlock examples, and route summaries are attributed to Gaming.net’s 2026 collection-wide guide; the Final Mix Ultima Weapon ingredient list was also checked against a community reference, and the Kingdom Hearts III threshold against KHWiki.
