KINGDOM HEARTS – The Story So Far is a PlayStation 4 package that combines KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX and KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 FINAL CHAPTER PROLOGUE. The official North American listing names nine entries, but three are video presentations rather than fully playable games: 358/2 Days and Re:coded are HD-remastered cinematics, while χ Back Cover is a movie.
KINGDOM HEARTS III is not included. It appears in later packages such as the All-In-One Package, which adds the game to the contents of The Story So Far.

These names and formats come from Square Enix’s official product listing for The Story So Far for PS4. Counting the list gives nine named entries, but counting only interactive games gives six. The other three are important story material presented as video.

What is included in HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX?
The larger of the two internal compilations contains six entries. Four are listed as playable games and two are cinematic collections.
KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX
This is the FINAL MIX version of the first KINGDOM HEARTS entry included in the package. It is presented as a game rather than a cinematic compilation, so it is one of the interactive titles you can play from the collection.
KINGDOM HEARTS Re:Chain of Memories
Re:Chain of Memories is the second playable entry named in the 1.5+2.5 portion. Its full title matters when checking a listing: the collection says Re:Chain of Memories, not simply “Chain of Memories.”
KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days
This entry is not a complete playable game in The Story So Far. Square Enix describes it as HD-remastered cinematics. You watch a curated video presentation of the story instead of launching a full interactive version.

- 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
KINGDOM HEARTS II FINAL MIX
The package includes the FINAL MIX version of KINGDOM HEARTS II. It is listed as a playable game, making it part of the six interactive releases in the overall collection.
KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep Final MIX
Birth by Sleep Final MIX is another playable game in the 1.5+2.5 group. The capitalization and subtitle distinguish it from the separate 0.2 Birth by Sleep –A fragmentary passage– entry in the 2.8 group.
KINGDOM HEARTS Re:coded
Like 358/2 Days, Re:coded is supplied as HD-remastered cinematics, not as a fully playable game. It is therefore part of the story material but should not be counted as an additional interactive title when comparing game totals.

KINGDOM HEARTS Dream Drop Distance HD
Dream Drop Distance HD is listed as a playable game. The “HD” label identifies the version included in this PS4 compilation.
KINGDOM HEARTS 0.2 Birth by Sleep –A fragmentary passage–
This is a separate playable entry from Birth by Sleep Final MIX. Both names contain “Birth by Sleep,” but they are two different items in the package and should be counted separately.
KINGDOM HEARTS χ Back Cover
χ Back Cover is identified as a movie. It is story content presented for viewing, not an interactive game. That distinction explains why a nine-entry contents list does not equal nine playable games.

There are six playable games in The Story So Far:
- KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX
- KINGDOM HEARTS Re:Chain of Memories
- KINGDOM HEARTS II FINAL MIX
- KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep Final MIX
- KINGDOM HEARTS Dream Drop Distance HD
- KINGDOM HEARTS 0.2 Birth by Sleep –A fragmentary passage–
The remaining three story entries are presented as two HD-remastered cinematic compilations and one movie: 358/2 Days, Re:coded and χ Back Cover. Retail descriptions that say “nine games” can therefore be misleading unless they explain this format split.

Does The Story So Far include KINGDOM HEARTS III?
No. KINGDOM HEARTS III is outside The Story So Far. The nine-entry package stops with the contents listed above.
Square Enix later announced an All-In-One Package for European retailers. Its April 17, 2025 announcement describes a physical PS4 package that combines the two Story So Far compilations with KINGDOM HEARTS III, for 10 named titles in total. The announcement scheduled that European release for June 12, 2025. That date is historical release information, not a statement about current stock, price or retailer availability. Details appear in the Square Enix Europe announcement.
| Package | Includes The Story So Far contents? | Includes KINGDOM HEARTS III? | Additional detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Story So Far | Yes: 1.5+2.5 ReMIX and 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue | No | PS4 listing with nine named entries, including cinematics and a movie |
| All-In-One Package | Yes | Yes | European physical PS4 package announced for June 12, 2025 |
| Collection [I–III] | Separate collection that includes the earlier material | Yes | Japanese packaged edition also lists Re Mind and requires an internet connection to download additional data |
What is the separate Collection [I–III]?
KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I〜III] is a separately named Japanese package. Its official page lists KINGDOM HEARTS III alongside the earlier collections and also identifies the Re Mind downloadable content. It is not another name for The Story So Far.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe Japanese product page also states that its packaged version requires an internet connection to download additional data. That requirement belongs to the separately named Collection [I〜III] edition. There is no basis in the North American The Story So Far listing to transfer that specific download warning to The Story So Far. Check the exact edition and region on the official Japanese Collection [I〜III] page if you are comparing packages.

Platform, language and edition details
The official North American product page identifies The Story So Far as a PS4 product. It lists English and Japanese text and English audio. Those are edition details from that regional listing, so they should not automatically be treated as specifications for every regional release or every later bundle.
The European All-In-One announcement concerns a physical PS4 package. Its publication date and planned release date describe that announcement, not present-day availability. Prices, stock and retailer listings were not established by the official product information cited here, so a current seller’s offer must be checked separately.
Which package is the right one for your goal?
You want the pre-III story material
Choose The Story So Far if your target is the two PS4 compilations and you do not need KINGDOM HEARTS III. You receive the six playable games plus the three video presentations in one package.
Recommended Free Tools
You want the package to reach KINGDOM HEARTS III
Look for a package explicitly named All-In-One or Collection [I–III], rather than assuming the words “Story So Far” include the third numbered game. Verify that the listing specifically names KINGDOM HEARTS III. If downloadable content matters, verify whether Re Mind is named as well; it is listed on the Japanese Collection [I–III] page, but not in the contents of The Story So Far.
You want to play every story entry interactively
No version of The Story So Far turns 358/2 Days, Re:coded or χ Back Cover into full games. They remain cinematics or a movie in the package. If your definition of “included” means playable software only, count the six game entries and treat the other three as viewing material.
Quick Recap
How to check a listing before buying
- Read the exact package name. Confirm whether it says The Story So Far, All-In-One Package or Collection [I〜III].
- Look for the two internal compilations. The Story So Far should name HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX and HD 2.8 FINAL CHAPTER PROLOGUE.
- Count formats, not just titles. Check whether the description identifies 358/2 Days and Re:coded as cinematics and χ Back Cover as a movie.
- Search the contents for KINGDOM HEARTS III. If it is absent, you are looking at The Story So Far rather than an expanded bundle.
- Confirm platform and region. The cited North American listing is for PS4 and specifies English/Japanese text with English audio; another edition can have different details.
- Check download language carefully. The additional-data requirement is documented for the Japanese Collection [I〜III] packaged edition, not established here for The Story So Far.
Common counting mistakes
- Calling it nine playable games: the official list has nine named entries, but three are video presentations.
- Assuming “2.8” is a separate purchase requirement: it is one of the two compilations packaged inside The Story So Far.
- Assuming KINGDOM HEARTS III is included because the collection covers the earlier story: III belongs to later bundles.
- Combining similarly named Birth by Sleep entries: Birth by Sleep Final MIX and 0.2 Birth by Sleep –A fragmentary passage– are separate entries.
- Using the Japanese Collection [I〜III] download note for every edition: that warning is tied to that Japanese packaged edition and should be checked against the product you are actually considering.
