For the widest current package, buy KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] if you have a supported platform such as Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam or the Epic Games Store. It combines HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind. Nintendo’s US Switch 2 listing gives the bundle a regular price of $74.99.
If you use the original Nintendo Switch or want a smaller first purchase, choose HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX. It contains the earliest major games in the modern collections, but it is not the entire three-part package. The deciding factors are the games and films included, your platform, regional price, upgrade eligibility, save-transfer rules and whether you are buying a physical or digital edition.

What is in each Kingdom Hearts collection?
The current lineup is divided into three products. The combined Collection [I~III] is a package of those products, not a separate release containing every Kingdom Hearts title ever made. Several components are films or cutscene compilations rather than playable games, so check the exact contents before buying.

|---|---|---|
| HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX | Kingdom Hearts Final Mix; Re:Chain of Memories; Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix; Birth by Sleep Final Mix; HD cinematic compilations for 358/2 Days and Re:coded. | New players who want the earliest large collection, buyers making a smaller commitment, and owners of the original Nintendo Switch. |
| HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue | Dream Drop Distance HD; 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage –; the χ Back Cover film. | Players continuing beyond 1.5+2.5 who want the next set of games and story material. |
| Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind | Kingdom Hearts III and the Re Mind downloadable content. | Players specifically looking for the third numbered game and its expansion. |
| Collection [I~III] | All three products above. | Players who want the broadest documented package and own a supported current platform. |
Nintendo’s US product description explicitly identifies 358/2 Days and Re:coded as HD cutscene compilations. The bundle therefore gives you a mixture of full games, shorter playable experiences and video story material; it should not be described as every release in the franchise.

Which bundle is best for a new player?
Choose Collection [I~III] for the complete modern starting point
Collection [I~III] is the straightforward choice when you want to follow the broadest currently packaged sequence without buying three products separately. It includes the first and second numbered games, related side stories, the 2.8 material that leads toward the third game, and Kingdom Hearts III with Re Mind.
On Nintendo’s US Switch 2 store, the regular prices listed in 2026 are $39.99 for each individual collection and $74.99 for Collection [I~III]. Buying all three separately at those listed prices would total $119.97, before any sale or regional difference. The $74.99 figure is a US Nintendo reference price, not a guaranteed worldwide price or a permanent promotion. Check your own storefront at checkout.
Choose HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX for a lower-commitment start
HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX is the best first purchase when you want to begin with the earliest major package, are unsure whether the series is for you, or are using the original Switch. It includes two numbered games, Re:Chain of Memories and Birth by Sleep, plus the two cinematic compilations. You can add 2.8 and III later on a platform that supports them.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Choose 2.8 when you already own 1.5+2.5
HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is a follow-up purchase rather than the usual starting point. It supplies Dream Drop Distance HD, 0.2 Birth by Sleep and the χ Back Cover film. If you already finished or own 1.5+2.5, 2.8 fills in the next major group of playable and cinematic material before Kingdom Hearts III.
Choose Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind for one specific game
Buy this product when your immediate goal is the third numbered game and its expansion. It does not include the earlier collections, so it is generally a poor first purchase if you have not played the preceding stories or do not want to buy them separately.

Platform availability and edition differences
Square Enix’s October 8, 2026 announcement lists the new collection products and the combined package for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC. The lineup is also available on Steam, with Epic Games Store availability beginning October 9, 2026. Store catalogs can vary by territory, so confirm that the exact product and edition appear for your account’s region.
| Platform | What the current lineup means | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Original Nintendo Switch | HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX is the listed collection. | The full three-part Collection [I~III] is not the original-Switch option. |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Supports the individual collections and Collection [I~III]. | Nintendo US lists $39.99 for each collection and $74.99 for the bundle as regular reference prices. |
| PlayStation 5 | Current collection products and the bundle are listed. | Upgrade eligibility and save behavior differ from Xbox and Switch. |
| Xbox Series X|S | Current collection products and the bundle are listed. | Check the account’s prior-generation ownership before repurchasing. |
| Xbox on PC | The announced lineup includes Xbox on PC. | Verify the exact store listing and edition for your Windows account. |
| Steam | The collection lineup is available. | Regional pricing and any owner discount are store-specific. |
| Epic Games Store | Availability begins October 9, 2026, according to Square Enix. | Confirm the product page and local price when purchasing. |
Platform support is the first filter: if you own only the original Switch, comparing the full bundle against the individual collections is not useful because the three-part package is intended for Switch 2 and the other listed current platforms.
How to compare the bundle with buying collections separately
- List the playable games you actually want. Count full games separately from the 358/2 Days, Re:coded and χ Back Cover video material.
- Check your platform generation. Original Switch points to 1.5+2.5; Switch 2 and the other current platforms can offer the complete package.
- Record the local storefront prices. The $74.99 and $39.99 figures are Nintendo US regular prices accessed in 2026. Sales, taxes, currencies and regional pricing can change the result.
- Check ownership discounts before paying. A prior digital purchase may qualify you for a cheaper native version or bundle, but eligibility is tied to platform, account and ownership status.
- Decide whether physical delivery is worth the download requirement. The physical Collection [I~III] requires an internet connection to download additional data.
- Confirm save compatibility. Save transfers are not uniform across platforms and generations; do not assume an old save will appear automatically.
Using Nintendo’s US reference prices as an example, the three $39.99 individual products total $119.97, while the listed bundle is $74.99. That comparison is useful only for that storefront and date; it is not a promise that every region or future sale will show the same gap.
Buying on Switch 2: price, bonus and upgrades
Regular Nintendo US prices
Nintendo’s US listing accessed in 2026 shows $39.99 for each individual collection and $74.99 for Collection [I~III]. These are regular listed prices, not a global price guide. Nintendo can change prices, and other storefronts may use different currencies, taxes or promotions.
Long Night Keyblade bonus
Nintendo says that buying Collection [I~III] or Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind on Switch 2 includes the platform-exclusive Long Night Keyblade for use in Kingdom Hearts III. The bonus is attached to those Switch 2 purchases, so it should not be assumed to come with 1.5+2.5 or with a purchase on another platform.
Discounted native versions for existing owners
Nintendo says owners of all Switch cloud titles individually, or of the cloud Integrum Masterpiece, may qualify for 50% off the Switch 2 native games and bundle. The discount depends on the ownership combination and the account shown in the Nintendo eShop. Open the product page while signed in to see whether the reduced price appears before buying again.

Existing owners: upgrades and save transfers
Square Enix documents platform-specific discounted purchases for prior digital owners. The exact offer depends on the platform, the product you own and the storefront account. A discount on one title does not automatically mean that every collection or the bundle is discounted.
- PlayStation: Square Enix’s announcement says saves do not transfer for PS4-to-PS5 upgrades.
- Xbox: The announcement likewise says saves do not transfer for Xbox One-to-current-platform upgrades.
- Switch: Switch cloud owners can transfer save data, subject to the relevant Nintendo account and cloud-title conditions.
Before purchasing, sign into the same account that owns the earlier digital version, inspect the upgrade or repurchase option, and back up or retain the original installation until the new version is confirmed. If your priority is continuing an existing save, the platform’s documented transfer rule matters more than a small price difference.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Physical versus digital: what to know
Square Enix has announced a physical edition of Collection [I~III], but the boxed version requires an internet connection to download additional data. A physical box therefore does not mean that all content is stored on the cartridge or disc. You also need sufficient storage and a regional console account that can access the required download.
Retail stock, release timing and the exact physical SKU can vary by country. Check the specific listing for your region, including the platform label, language information and whether the seller is offering the complete Collection [I~III] rather than an individual collection. If you need an offline-only product, the additional-download requirement is a reason to choose a different edition or verify the details carefully before ordering.

Language support and future updates
Square Enix says Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Korean subtitles are planned for early summer 2027 on several platform versions, with physical editions carrying those subtitles also planned. This is a forward-looking publisher announcement, not a feature that should be presumed available at the time of purchase. Check the current store description and version notes for your region.
Common mistakes when choosing a collection
Assuming the bundle contains every Kingdom Hearts release
Collection [I~III] contains the three named products only. It includes films and cutscene compilations in addition to playable games, but the official description does not establish it as an exhaustive package of every Kingdom Hearts release.
Buying the original-Switch version expecting the full bundle
The original Nintendo Switch listing is limited to HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX. The full three-part package is associated with Switch 2 and the other announced current platforms.
Comparing prices across regions as if they were fixed
The $74.99 bundle and $39.99 individual prices come from Nintendo’s US listing. They are not universal prices, and a sale can change the value calculation immediately.
Assuming a physical copy is completely offline
The physical Collection [I~III] needs an internet download for additional data. Confirm storage and connection requirements before choosing boxed media.
Expecting saves to transfer automatically
PS4-to-PS5 and Xbox One-to-current-platform save transfers are not supported according to Square Enix’s announcement, while Switch cloud saves can transfer under the stated conditions. Check your platform instead of relying on the product name alone.
A practical decision guide
| Your situation | Recommended purchase | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You want the broadest package and own Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series, Xbox on PC, Steam or Epic. | Collection [I~III] | It combines all three documented collections in one purchase. |
| You own the original Nintendo Switch. | HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX | It is the collection listed for that console generation. |
| You want to test the series before committing to the full package. | HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX | It provides the earliest large group of games and story material at a smaller initial scope. |
| You already have 1.5+2.5 and want the next story set. | HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue | It adds Dream Drop Distance HD, 0.2 Birth by Sleep and χ Back Cover. |
| You only want the third numbered game and its expansion. | Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind | It is the product focused on that game and DLC. |
| You already own eligible digital versions. | Check the platform upgrade offer first | A store-specific discount may be available, and save-transfer rules differ. |
| You require a boxed copy. | Physical Collection [I~III], after checking the listing | It exists, but additional data must be downloaded and regional SKUs vary. |
For most new buyers with a supported current platform, Collection [I~III] is the strongest value and the least confusing route through the available packages. HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX remains the correct choice for original-Switch owners and anyone who wants to start smaller. Treat the platform, ownership and delivery checks as part of the purchase decision rather than afterthoughts.
