For recurring YouTube Premium or YouTube Music payments in India, eligibility depends on the issuing bank, card network and whether that exact card supports recurring e-mandates—not just whether it carries a Visa or Mastercard logo. Google lists selected card types from specific banks, but says support can vary. Check the current list and complete YouTube’s verification flow before relying on a card.
Cards Google currently lists for recurring payments in India
The table reflects Google’s recurring-payment support page as accessed on October 3, 2026. Google does not show a revision date on that page, and says banks may not yet support recurring payments and that its list may change. “Not listed” means only that Google’s current list does not show that bank-and-card combination; it does not establish whether the card can be used for a one-time payment or another Google service.

Google describes an e-mandate as permission for automatic recurring charges. For Indian automatic payments, it says the transaction limit without additional approval is ₹15,000 per transaction and that cardholders must complete an OTP verification flow to establish the mandate. Google attributes these requirements to RBI rules. Google’s India automatic-payments guidance.

- Check the exact card combination. Match the bank, Visa or Mastercard network, and credit or debit type against the table and Google’s live support page.
- Follow the YouTube verification prompt. In the YouTube app or at youtube.com/paid_memberships, verify or re-enter payment details when prompted. YouTube says this verification is required to maintain recurring memberships under India’s eMandate requirements. YouTube Help: Update your Premium membership.
- Complete the bank’s OTP or mandate authorization. A card that works for ordinary online purchases may still lack recurring e-mandate support.
- If recurring billing is unavailable, check the plan choices shown to your account. Google says a new Premium or Music subscriber whose card does not support automatic payments may be prompted to choose a prepaid plan. Google Pay Help.
RuPay, American Express and other card networks
Google’s card-storage guidance distinguishes saved-card support from blanket acceptance at every checkout. It says Visa and Mastercard can be saved in an RBI-compliant format after a manual payment, while RuPay, American Express, Discover and Diners cards cannot be saved in that format. The same page explicitly identifies RuPay support for Google Cloud, Workspace and Ads, but does not name YouTube among those services; it also says American Express, Diners and Discover are unsupported on most of the listed Google services, including YouTube. Why a listed card can still fail
- The exact card lacks mandate support. Google’s list is by bank and card type, not a promise that every individual account or issued card is enabled.
- The bank has not enabled recurring online payments. Ask the issuer specifically whether that card supports online recurring e-mandates for the subscription; online purchases or international transactions being enabled is not the same thing.
- The mandate verification is incomplete. Check the YouTube account for a verification prompt and finish the bank’s OTP flow.
- Saved-card rules differ from a one-time charge. Google’s card-storage guidance has its own network scope; do not infer recurring YouTube eligibility from a card’s use on another Google service.
- The available signup option differs. If YouTube does not offer recurring billing with the card, check whether a prepaid plan is presented for the account.
YouTube membership payments and cloud live-streaming services are separate
This card list concerns recurring YouTube Premium or YouTube Music billing. It is not a payment-method list for cloud services that keep a YouTube live stream running. Those are separate services with separate checkouts, and Google’s card list does not establish what payment methods a particular streaming provider accepts.
