For most people, “dual screen” means two separate monitors on a desk; portable dual-screen products instead fold two panels into one travel-ready unit. TechRadar’s roundup, last updated May 16, 2025, names five options for a desk-based setup, including one single-screen portable monitor. Portable monitors with two panels
If you want both screens to travel as one unit, an integrated dual-panel monitor is a different category from a pair of desk displays. Check the device’s video-input requirements and whether your computer can drive the two external displays in the mode you intend to use.

ASUS ZenScreen Duo OLED MQ149CD
ASUS lists two 14-inch OLED panels, each with 1920 × 1200 resolution in a 16:10 aspect ratio, dual USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode, mini-HDMI and a 360-degree hinge. The listed weight is 1.07 kg. ASUS also specifies 100% DCI-P3 and Delta E <2; those are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. Check ASUS’s product specifications.
ASUS ZenScreen Duo MB14FCD
ASUS lists two 14-inch IPS panels at 1920 × 1200, USB-C power pass-through and mini-HDMI, with split, independent, mirror and extend modes. The company notes that some MacBook and phone configurations cannot extend to a second external display in the described mode. ViewSonic VG1457
ViewSonic lists two foldable 14-inch WUXGA panels in a 2.6-pound unit, five viewing modes, dual USB-C inputs and 65W two-way Power Delivery. Its June 9, 2026 US launch announcement said the monitor was shipping and gave an estimated street price of $349.99; that is launch-era information, not a current quote. TechRadar’s January 2026 review describes this as a dual-panel laptop extender and calls out its weight and compatibility limits. According to the review, it requires a Windows laptop with USB-C or Thunderbolt supporting DisplayPort Alt Mode; MacBook owners are excluded. A USB-C connector alone does not guarantee video output. LG +view 16MR70: a single-screen alternative
This is an adjacent option if you want one portable second screen rather than two panels in a single unit. LG says the connected device must support DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery above 7.5 W, and describes setting up a dual-monitor arrangement over USB-C. Check LG’s 16MR70 requirements.
How to choose the right kind of dual-screen setup
Decide whether you need two desk monitors or one portable unit
Two separate monitors give you a conventional fixed workspace and let you choose screen sizes and models individually. An integrated portable dual-panel unit is designed to fold and travel, but adds weight and depends on the host computer’s display support. A single portable monitor can add one screen beside a laptop or desk display; it does not provide two panels by itself.

Match resolution, size and panel type to your work
Resolution determines how much detail fits on each display: the cited desk options span Full HD, 4K and 5K, while the ASUS portable models each list 1920 × 1200 panels. Larger screens take more desk or bag space. Panel type also differs: the cited options include IPS and OLED, so decide based on the display characteristics you need rather than assuming every dual-screen arrangement will look or behave alike.

Color specifications matter more for color-sensitive work than for routine documents. The desk roundup reports color coverage figures for the BenQ and Dell models, while ASUS publishes color specifications for the OLED Duo. Treat product-page figures as manufacturer claims unless there is independent testing. The roundup’s peak-brightness figures also vary by model, but a higher listed peak alone does not establish which display is best in your room.

Confirm video compatibility and available ports
- Look for DisplayPort Alt Mode support when using USB-C video; the connector shape alone does not establish that the port carries a display signal.
- Check that your computer supports the number of external displays you intend to use, and that it can run them in the desired resolution and mode.
- Review the monitor’s inputs and power arrangements. The listed portable options use different combinations of USB-C, DisplayPort Alt Mode, mini-HDMI, power pass-through and Power Delivery.
- Check operating-system restrictions against the exact computer and intended mode. ASUS warns that some configurations cannot extend to a second external display, while TechRadar’s X90E review states that MacBooks are excluded.
Account for weight, footprint and budget
Portable products can simplify carrying two screens together, but the full unit’s weight matters when it travels with a laptop and accessories. For a desk setup, measure the space for two stands or mounts and consider whether a larger display is practical. Compare current local prices rather than relying on a dated launch estimate or a roundup’s budget label.
