Amazon Leo service is received through an Amazon customer terminal, not a phone, laptop, television, game console, or ordinary Wi-Fi router. The three announced terminals are Leo Nano, Leo Pro, and Leo Ultra. Amazon has not yet published a supported list of third-party routers, Ethernet handoff specifications, bridge-mode behavior, VLAN requirements, or mesh-system compatibility.
That makes the terminal question answerable today, while the router question remains open. You should treat any claim that a particular consumer router or mesh kit is officially compatible as unverified until Amazon publishes launch documentation for your country and service plan.

What hardware actually connects to Amazon Leo?
Amazon describes Leo as a system with three parts: ground infrastructure, satellites, and customer terminals. The customer terminal is the equipment that communicates with the low-Earth-orbit network. Amazon says its terminals combine an antenna and processing hardware in one compact system.

They are end-user devices, not substitutes for the satellite antenna. A conventional Wi-Fi router also cannot receive Leo directly unless Amazon’s eventual product design explicitly gives it that role; Amazon has not announced such a router-integrated product as of 2026.

Leo Nano
Leo Nano is the smallest and most portable option. Amazon lists a 7-by-7-inch package weighing 2.2 pounds and rates it for download speeds of up to 100 Mbps. Amazon positions it for portable connectivity, 4K streaming, gaming and video calls.
The 100 Mbps figure is an “up to” result from limited preliminary testing, not a service guarantee. Amazon says actual performance depends on geography, weather, Wi-Fi conditions, plan availability, congestion and network policy.
Leo Pro
Leo Pro is the model Amazon positions for homes and small businesses. It measures 11 by 11 inches, weighs 5.3 pounds and is rated for downloads of up to 400 Mbps. Amazon describes it as compact and weather-tested.

Leo Ultra
Leo Ultra is an enterprise-class terminal measuring 20 by 30 by 1.9 inches. Amazon lists up to 1 Gbps downstream and 400 Mbps upstream performance. It is aimed at demanding business, government, telecom, aviation and industrial deployments.
Amazon also associates Ultra with private networking and direct AWS connectivity. Those capabilities are relevant to organizations with managed network or cloud requirements, not evidence that a household router will be supported. The larger enclosure and enterprise focus also make Ultra a poor assumption for a typical home installation unless Amazon or a service provider specifically recommends it.
Terminal comparison
| Terminal | Published maximum throughput | Size and weight | Intended setting | Mobility and exposure | Router/network details | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Leo Nano | Up to 100 Mbps down | 7 × 7 inches; 2.2 pounds | Portable use, streaming, gaming, video calls | Amazon’s portable model; detailed environmental limits are not stated | Not published | Country-by-country launch status is not stated |
| Leo Pro | Up to 400 Mbps down | 11 × 11 inches; 5.3 pounds | Home and small business | Compact and weather-tested, according to Amazon | Not published | Country-by-country launch status is not stated |
| Leo Ultra | Up to 1 Gbps down; up to 400 Mbps up | 20 × 30 × 1.9 inches | Enterprise, government, telecom, aviation and industrial workloads | Designed for demanding deployments; detailed environmental limits are not stated | Private-networking and direct-AWS use cases are described; customer LAN specifications are not published | Country-by-country launch status is not stated |
All three figures are preliminary “up to” values from Amazon’s 2026 technology information. They should not be read as minimum speeds, guaranteed throughput, or a promise that a particular plan will deliver the terminal’s maximum.
Can you use your own Wi-Fi router?
Amazon has not answered this publicly in enough technical detail to name a guaranteed compatible router. Its public material discusses Wi-Fi performance as one factor affecting the speeds customers experience, but it does not identify router brands or models.

The missing information includes:
- Whether each terminal exposes a standard Ethernet LAN or WAN handoff.
- The connector type and supported link speeds.
- Whether the terminal can operate in bridge, passthrough or modem-only mode.
- How addressing, authentication and routing are configured at the handoff.
- Whether VLAN tagging, a particular MTU or another network setting is required.
- Whether third-party mesh systems are supported, restricted or simply untested.
- Whether Amazon supplies a built-in wireless network, a separate gateway, or both.
If Amazon eventually provides a conventional Ethernet handoff, a router that accepts an ordinary internet uplink may be usable in principle. That is an engineering inference, not an official compatibility statement. A router can have the right physical port and still fail if the service requires a mode or setting that Amazon does not document.
What about eero or another mesh system?
There is no published confirmation that eero or any other consumer mesh system works with Leo. Do not buy a mesh kit on the assumption that it will pair with the terminal, and do not assume that a terminal’s own wireless functions can be disabled. Wait for Amazon’s instructions covering the exact terminal, plan and country.
Which household devices can use the connection?
Once Amazon supplies a working customer-terminal-to-local-network connection, ordinary internet devices should be considered clients behind that network rather than Leo-specific hardware. This includes:
- Phones, tablets and computers.
- Streaming televisions and media players.
- Game consoles.
- Video-call equipment.
- Smart-home devices and security cameras.
Amazon’s Nano positioning specifically mentions 4K streaming, gaming and video calls, while Nano and Pro are described for general customer connectivity. Those use cases show the kind of traffic Amazon is targeting; they do not certify a particular television, console, operating system or application.

How to choose among Nano, Pro and Ultra
Choose Nano when portability matters most
Nano is the only announced model explicitly positioned as portable. Its smaller footprint and 2.2-pound weight are useful where equipment must be moved, while its published ceiling of 100 Mbps targets ordinary browsing, calls, streaming and gaming. Confirm the service plan and local availability before treating it as a travel solution; Amazon has not published a universal mobility policy or country list.
Choose Pro for the stated home or small-business role
Pro is the model whose intended setting most closely matches a fixed household or small-office connection. Its published ceiling is four times Nano’s downstream figure, and Amazon calls it weather-tested. That does not guarantee 400 Mbps at your address, nor does it resolve which router or Wi-Fi arrangement you can use.
Choose Ultra only for enterprise requirements
Ultra’s 1 Gbps down and 400 Mbps up ratings, private-networking features and direct AWS connectivity are aimed at organizations with demanding workloads. Its size, deployment model and unresolved local-network specifications mean that it should be selected through an enterprise service process rather than as an automatic upgrade for a home user.

What a practical installation will require
Amazon has not released a complete consumer installation procedure, so the following is a decision sequence rather than a promise that every step or setting will appear exactly this way.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
- Verify an official sales and service channel. Check that the terminal and plan are offered for your country and that the seller is authorized by Amazon. Avoid relying on marketplace listings that do not provide an official service activation path.
- Match the terminal to the use case. Use Nano’s portable positioning, Pro’s home/small-business positioning or Ultra’s enterprise positioning as the starting point. Compare the published throughput ceilings with your expected demand, while allowing for Amazon’s stated variables: geography, weather, Wi-Fi, plan availability, congestion and policy.
- Obtain the terminal’s launch documentation. Before purchasing a separate router, look for the exact information Amazon publishes for your terminal: connector type, handoff mode, addressing method, supported link speed and whether the terminal supplies Wi-Fi.
- Connect the local network exactly as documented. If Amazon specifies Ethernet, use the port and mode it names. If it requires a supplied gateway or does not permit bridge mode, placing a third-party router in front of it may create a configuration Amazon does not support.
- Add Wi-Fi equipment only after the handoff is confirmed. Configure a router or mesh system according to Amazon’s instructions and the router maker’s documented uplink mode. Do not assume that a physically matching cable or port proves compatibility.
- Test under representative conditions. Check wired and wireless results separately if the documentation permits. Record the terminal model, plan, time, location and weather so a lower-than-expected result can be compared with Amazon’s stated performance variables.
Availability, preview status and regulatory caution
Amazon says it began an enterprise preview in November 2025 using production hardware and software. It plans a wider rollout during 2026 as satellite coverage and network capacity grow. That schedule is not a guarantee that service or a particular terminal is available in every country.
Amazon’s technology page also carries a regulatory warning: the devices “have not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission” and “are not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained.” In practical terms, current listings, prices and offers should be treated as unverified unless they come through an official, authorized channel for your market.
Amazon’s FAQ says the initial constellation design includes more than 3,000 satellites. On November 13, 2025, Amazon retired the Project Kuiper name and adopted Amazon Leo as the permanent identity. Older listings or articles using Project Kuiper may therefore describe the same program under its former name, but they should still be checked against current launch and regulatory information.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Why the router answer is still unresolved
Satellite access hardware and home networking are separate product layers. Amazon has specified the antenna families and their headline performance, but it has not published the customer-terminal LAN interface needed to certify a third-party router. Until those details appear, compatibility cannot be inferred from the router’s brand, Wi-Fi generation, number of Ethernet ports or mesh features.
The most reliable buying rule is simple: secure an authorized Leo terminal and service plan first, then select local networking equipment only from the combinations Amazon documents. If you need a managed network, private connectivity or AWS integration, ask Amazon or the authorized enterprise provider for the Ultra deployment architecture rather than adapting a consumer setup.
