Telly is the company offering a free-reservation 55-inch 4K HDR television with a permanently visible second Smart Screen. That lower display carries advertising and also provides features such as a home feed, music, video calling, games, fitness tools, voice control and mood lighting. Telly says advertisers and data partners fund the hardware, so the set is not an unconditional gift: accepting one means agreeing to the company’s terms and related requirements.
What Telly’s free television includes
Telly’s product page describes a 55-inch 4K HDR Theater Display paired with a separate Smart Screen and an integrated six-speaker soundbar. The company also lists video calling, home-feed information, music, a voice assistant, motion-tracking fitness, mood lighting and games. These are Telly’s stated features; independent testing is not established here.

The main screen functions like a conventional television, while the second screen remains available for advertising and other information. The advertising is therefore a persistent part of the physical design rather than an occasional commercial break on the main picture.

How the advertising-funded model works
Telly says brands pay to place ads on the second Smart Screen and that advertising, data partnerships and related revenue support the free hardware. The company calls the ads “non-intrusive,” but viewers should understand the practical trade-off: a dedicated display in the room is intended to show commercial content continuously or whenever the television is in use.

AdExchanger reported on September 9, 2026, that Telly was expanding programmatic sales for this home-screen inventory through Magnite’s SpringServe ad server, with demand cited from The Trade Desk, Teads and other buyers. The report also said Telly combines household questionnaire responses with automatic content-recognition data for targeting, according to a company representative. Those details come from trade reporting and should not be read as a complete description of every current data practice.
Is the TV really free?
There is no stated purchase price for the television, but “free” is conditional. Telly’s Help Center says it requests a credit card for identity validation, fraud prevention and compliance with the terms. If Telly determines that a user violated the terms, it says access may be restricted, the device may become unusable and the company may require its return.
The same policy, dated August 19, 2025, says Telly may charge $1,000 to the card on file if a required return is not completed. This is a conditional policy statement, not an automatic fee or a normal price charged to every participant.
Who can reserve one?
Telly’s eligibility guidance says an internet-connected home in the United States can join the waitlist if it accepts the company’s terms. A separate international-availability FAQ, last updated December 5, 2024, states that Telly was available only in the United States at that time. Availability may change, so readers outside the US should check the current reservation page before relying on that statement.

The advertising model makes data use an important part of the decision. AdExchanger’s September 2026 report described targeting based on questionnaire information about a household and automatic content-recognition signals. Earlier launch coverage in Fast Company, published May 15, 2023, also discussed a lengthy signup survey and viewing detection, but those launch-era descriptions should not be treated as a substitute for Telly’s current privacy policy.
The detailed current policy text, including retention periods, sharing rules and opt-out choices, was not available in the material reviewed for this article. Read the live policy and reservation terms before submitting household information or connecting the television.
Telly versus buying a normal 55-inch 4K TV
| Consideration | Telly | Conventional 55-inch 4K TV |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront cost | No stated purchase price under the reservation offer | Paid upfront; price varies by model and retailer |
| Advertising | Dedicated second Smart Screen designed to show ads | No permanent manufacturer ad display is inherent to the hardware |
| Hardware | 55-inch 4K HDR main display, second screen and six-speaker soundbar, according to Telly | Specifications depend on the chosen model; accessories may be separate |
| Commitments | Internet connection, account and acceptance of Telly’s terms; credit card requested for validation and compliance | Usually a retailer account or manufacturer account is optional, depending on features |
| Data and targeting | Telly and trade reporting describe questionnaire and automatic-content-recognition data used for advertising; current retention and opt-out details are not established here | Varies by brand, operating system and connected features |
| Delivery certainty | Current wait time and inventory are not stated; first shipments began in July 2023 | Depends on retailer stock and shipping estimates |
| Terms breach | Telly says it may restrict access, disable the product or request a return; failure to return may permit a $1,000 charge | Normally governed by the retailer’s warranty, return and financing terms |
Who should consider Telly?
- Potentially suitable: households that value the integrated second-screen tools, accept persistent advertising and are comfortable supplying the information required by Telly’s terms.
- Probably unsuitable: viewers who want an uncluttered wall display, object to targeted advertising in the living room, cannot meet the US eligibility requirement or do not want a card tied to compliance obligations.
- Check before reserving: the current privacy policy, exact reservation terms, delivery estimate, return language and whether the offer is still limited to the United States.
Bottom line
Telly is the company behind the free, ad-supported dual-screen television. Its offer exchanges upfront hardware cost for a permanent advertising surface, data-related disclosures and contractual conditions. Treat it as a funded service arrangement—not a no-strings-attached free TV—and compare that trade-off with buying a conventional set outright.
