The right cheap 27-inch gaming monitor depends on whether you value sharper 1440p detail, HDR, or the highest refresh rate. The KTC H27T22C-3 pairs 1440p with 210 Hz at a low price listed by PC Gamer; the AOC Q27G3XMN is the pick to consider for Mini LED HDR; and the AOC Gaming C27G4ZXE prioritizes 280 Hz at 1080p. These are evidence-backed candidates, not a controlled head-to-head ranking. Prices and availability can change, so check the exact model and local listing before buying.

Which cheap 27-inch gaming monitor is best for your priorities?
For affordable 1440p and high refresh: KTC H27T22C-3
PC Gamer names this its best budget 1440p gaming monitor. Its listed specifications are a 27-inch IPS panel, 2560 × 1440 resolution, 210 Hz refresh rate, 1 ms response rating, FreeSync, and G-Sync Compatible support. PC Gamer displayed a price of $159 in the US and £150 in the UK on its page updated October 2, 2026. Those are dated page prices, not a guarantee of current or local pricing.
This is the most direct fit if you want to combine 1440p sharpness with a refresh rate above 200 Hz without spending into a higher price class. The compromises are limited HDR, a stand that adjusts only for tilt, and no USB ports. Check that its stand and connectivity suit your setup before choosing it over a more ergonomic display.
#1 Best Overall
- QHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) has 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD for incredibly detailed pinsharp images

- AMD FreeSync reduces choppiness, screen lag and image tearing, ensuring that your fast-paced, complex in-game action is stable with minimal stutter
- Ergonomic stand allows for tilt, pivot and height adjustments to maximize gaming comfort
For budget 1440p HDR: AOC Q27G3XMN
RTINGS names the Q27G3XMN its best budget 27-inch gaming monitor. It is a 27-inch 1440p VA LCD with a 180 Hz maximum refresh rate and Mini LED backlighting. RTINGS highlights its HDR image quality and fast overall response time, but also reports black smearing in dark moving scenes. That can be noticeable in games with dark backgrounds and fast motion.
It also lacks HDMI 2.1 bandwidth. If you need a particular console video mode or a high-bandwidth HDMI connection, verify the monitor’s input limits against your console and desired resolution and refresh rate. Mini LED is a reason to shortlist this model for HDR, not a guarantee that it matches the HDR performance of more expensive displays.
Rank #2
- Quality Visuals: The KG271U 27" IPS monitor with 2560 x 1440 QHD resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio presents stunning, high-quality images with excellent detail. The zero-frame design does away with the thick frames found on conventional monitors freeing up precious screen space.

- Up to 180Hz: The 180Hz refresh rate speeds up the frames per second to deliver an ultra-smooth 2D motion scene. With a rapid refresh rate of up to 180Hz, Acer Gaming Monitors shorten the time it takes for frame rendering, lower input lag and provide gamers an excellent in-game experience.
- Responsive!!: Up to 0.5ms GTG (Gray to Gray) response time enhanced gamers’ in-game experience. No matter the fast-moving action or any dramatic transitions will be all rendered smoothly without the annoying effects of smearing or ghosting with KG271U Gaming Monitor.
- New Depths of Color Accuracy: is monitor is ideal for color-critical projects producing accurate colors, supporting DCI-P3 95%. An amazing monitor for graphic designers, photographers, and film editors.
For 1440p motion handling at a lower price: Dell Alienware AW2725DM
RTINGS calls the AW2725DM the best cheap 27-inch gaming monitor in its guide. It combines a 1440p IPS panel with a 180 Hz refresh rate. RTINGS describes its motion handling as very good and notes that it avoids the dark-scene smearing seen on the Q27G3XMN.

The trade-off is image contrast: the IPS panel has low contrast, HDR performance is weaker, and local dimming can create halos around bright objects. Consider it when price and motion handling matter more than HDR impact; compare its current local price with the other 1440p candidates rather than assuming one is always cheaper.
Rank #3
- 100% sRGB Color Gamut: With 100% sRGB, our display reveals an astonishing brightness and variance in red, green, and blue color across a wide gamut, providing a more defined and naturalistic display of color in every image.

For the highest listed refresh rate at 1080p: AOC Gaming C27G4ZXE
PC Gamer’s 1080p pick is a 27-inch VA display with 1920 × 1080 resolution, a 280 Hz refresh rate, and a 1500R curve. The page displayed $175 in the US and £159 in the UK; these are the publisher’s listed prices, not live quotes. Its high refresh rate may appeal if you prioritize fast play and your PC or budget makes 1440p less attractive.
The cost of choosing 1080p at 27 inches is lower pixel density than 1440p: fine detail and text look less sharp at the same viewing distance. PC Gamer also notes weaker pixel response and poor HDR. Choose it for refresh-rate priority, not for the clearest image or HDR.
Rank #4
- 27” QHD IPS DISPLAY: Enjoy stunning detail and vibrant color with a 2560x1440 Quad HD resolution on a 27-inch IPS panel, offering wide viewing angles and precise image quality.
- 240HZ REFRESH RATE & 0.3MS RESPONSE TIME: Take competitive gaming to the next level with a blazing-fast 240Hz refresh rate (via DisplayPort) and ultra-responsive 0.3ms MPRT for minimal blur and maximum clarity.
- ADAPTIVE-SYNC SUPPORT: Say goodbye to screen tearing and input lag with Adaptive-Sync for fluid, uninterrupted performance across both AMD and NVIDIA GPUs.
- TILT ADJUSTMENT: Customize your setup with -3° to +21° tilt range for ergonomic positioning.
- ENHANCED GAMING FEATURES: Includes Shadow Control, Game Mode presets, and a user-friendly graphical OSD menu for fast and intuitive performance tuning.
For US buyers checking another Mini LED option: AOC Q27G40XMN
RTINGS says the Q27G40XMN has better local dimming than the Q27G3XMN but worse motion handling, and describes it as available only in the US. The reviewed evidence does not establish enough comparative price information to rank it ahead of the other monitors. Treat it as a regional alternative to compare against current local listings, not a universal recommendation.
How to choose between 1440p, 1080p, refresh rate, and HDR
Start with resolution at 27 inches
Among these candidates, three offer 1440p and one emphasizes 1080p speed. At 27 inches, 1440p gives more detail and higher pixel density than 1080p. That difference matters for both game image clarity and everyday desktop use. The 1080p model’s 280 Hz ceiling is compelling only if the extra refresh matters more to you than the sharper image.

Do not judge motion by the refresh number alone
A 210 Hz or 280 Hz specification tells you the maximum refresh rate, not how cleanly the panel renders every transition. RTINGS’ comparison calls out dark-scene smearing on the Q27G3XMN and better motion handling on the Dell. Consider the type of games you play and look for model-specific motion assessments alongside the headline refresh rate.
Match HDR expectations to the panel
The Q27G3XMN’s Mini LED backlight gives it the strongest HDR case in this shortlist according to RTINGS, though the same assessment flags dark-scene smearing. The Dell’s HDR is weaker and local dimming can cause halos. The KTC has limited HDR, while PC Gamer describes the 1080p AOC’s HDR as poor. If HDR is central to your choice, weigh those compromises rather than treating an HDR label as proof of comparable performance.
Check the ports and stand against your setup
The KTC has no USB ports and only tilt adjustment. The Q27G3XMN lacks HDMI 2.1 bandwidth. Confirm the exact input and stand requirements for your PC, console, desk, and preferred seating position; model suffixes and regional versions can differ.
