Buy the Standard Edition if you simply want the game, prefer a disc, or do not care enough about cosmetic and seasonal bonuses to pay an extra $30. The premium product is officially called the Vault Edition—“Deluxe” is the familiar shorthand in the question, not the current product name. Vault costs $99.99 in the US versus $69.99 for Standard on the Xbox and Steam listings observed in 2026, and adds digital extras rather than a different base game.
Standard vs. Vault: the short answer
Both editions provide the same Call of Duty base game. The decision is whether the Vault bundle’s digital bonuses are worth its $30 premium to you.

- Choose Standard for the lowest entry price, a physical console copy, or straightforward access to the game.
- Choose Vault if you already want the included operator packs, Signature Weapon Collection, one season of BlackCell, and the DMZ Deployment Bonus.
- Choose the $30 upgrade only after checking that your platform recognizes your Standard purchase and offers the upgrade for your account.
Vault is digital-only. Physical console copies are Standard editions, so a disc buyer cannot get a physical “Vault” box containing those bonuses.

The comparison commonly described as “Standard vs. Deluxe” is currently a comparison between Standard Edition and Vault Edition. Activision’s edition and support information uses “Vault Edition” for the premium package. Store pages may still be described informally as deluxe by shoppers, but there is no separate current SKU established here under that name.

Edition comparison at a glance
| Edition | US price shown in 2026 | Includes | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | $69.99 | Base game; physical console version is Standard | Players who want the game without the premium bundle |
| Vault Edition | $99.99 | Base game, Hostile Alliance Operator Pack, Special Forces Operator Pack, Signature Weapon Collection, one season of BlackCell, and a DMZ Deployment Bonus | Players who specifically want the listed digital extras |

The prices are US storefront observations from Xbox and Steam, accessed in 2026. They are not a universal price guarantee: taxes, currency conversion, regional pricing, discounts, and later store changes can alter the amount you see. Check your platform’s live listing immediately before purchase.
What Vault adds
Hostile Alliance Operator Pack
This is one of the two named operator packs in the Vault package. It is a digital customization bundle, not a separately identified campaign, multiplayer mode, or gameplay expansion in the edition descriptions.
Special Forces Operator Pack
The second named operator pack provides additional digital operator content. The available edition descriptions do not assign an independent cash value to either operator pack, so their worth depends on how much you use and value in-game customization.
Signature Weapon Collection
Vault includes the Signature Weapon Collection. The listing identifies the collection as part of the bundle but does not establish a separate retail price or explain a measurable gameplay advantage. Treat it as a bundled digital item rather than assuming it makes the base game a different edition.
One season of BlackCell
The package includes one season of BlackCell. “One season” is a single seasonal entitlement, not an unlimited or perpetual subscription. Because seasons and their content can change, read the platform’s current product description for the applicable season and redemption terms.
DMZ Deployment Bonus
Vault also lists a DMZ Deployment Bonus. The store description names the bonus but does not provide an independent monetary valuation. If DMZ is not part of how you plan to play, this item should carry little weight in your decision.

What Standard includes—and what it does not
Standard is the base-game purchase. It is the edition offered in physical console form and is the sensible choice when your priority is playing Call of Duty rather than collecting digital cosmetics and seasonal add-ons.
Standard does not include the Vault bundle’s named operator packs, Signature Weapon Collection, BlackCell season, or DMZ Deployment Bonus. You are not buying an inferior version of the base game; you are declining the premium bundle. If you later change your mind, Xbox and Steam list a $30 Vault upgrade, subject to platform eligibility and ownership checks.

Which edition fits your priorities?
Buy Standard when access is the priority
- You want the game at the lower listed price.
- You do not regularly use operator skins or weapon-collection cosmetics.
- You are unsure whether you will play DMZ or use the BlackCell season.
- You want a physical Xbox Series X or PS5 copy.
- You would rather decide later than prepay for content you may ignore.
Standard is also the safer choice for a first-time buyer who cannot yet say which Vault items matter. The upgrade listing provides a way to reassess, although you should confirm that the upgrade remains available for your platform and account.
Buy Vault when you already want the bundle
- You know you will use the Hostile Alliance and Special Forces operator packs.
- The Signature Weapon Collection is an important part of your planned customization.
- You expect to use the included BlackCell season.
- You intend to play DMZ and value its Deployment Bonus.
- You are comfortable with a digital-only purchase.
The bundle’s value is personal. The official listings identify what is included, but they do not prove that those items are worth $30 in cash value for every player. Do not treat the Vault price as an automatic saving unless you would have bought the included content separately.

Physical copies versus digital purchases
Activision identifies physical console editions as Standard and specifically identifies a physical Xbox Series X Standard Edition. Its support information describes Vault as digital-only. That creates a straightforward rule:
| If you want… | Buy… | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A disc for Xbox Series X or PS5 | Standard Edition | Physical console availability is identified for Standard; Vault is digital-only. |
| A digital copy plus the premium bundle | Vault Edition | Vault is the digital package containing the named extras. |
| A Standard purchase now and possible premium content later | Standard, then check Vault Edition Upgrade | The stores list a $30 upgrade, but account and platform eligibility apply. |
Do not assume that a retailer’s physical listing includes Vault content simply because the product page uses a casual term such as “deluxe.” Confirm that the edition field says Standard and that any bonus is explicitly listed.
Price, upgrade path, and regional checks
How much more Vault costs
On the US Xbox and Steam listings observed in 2026, Standard is $69.99 and Vault is $99.99—a $30 difference. Both stores also show a $30 Vault Edition Upgrade. These are storefront figures, not an enduring worldwide price schedule.
Your checkout total can differ because of local taxes, currency, regional pricing, a sale, or a changed listing. A promotion can also apply to one edition but not another. Always compare the final price in your own account and region.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsHow to use the upgrade option
- Open the store on the platform where you purchased Standard.
- Search for the exact product named Vault Edition Upgrade.
- Confirm that the page recognizes your Standard ownership and displays the $30 upgrade price or the current local equivalent.
- Review the included items—both operator packs, the Signature Weapon Collection, one BlackCell season, and the DMZ Deployment Bonus—before confirming.
- After purchase, check your game or account inventory for the entitlements and keep the transaction receipt.
If the upgrade is missing or priced differently, do not buy a second full edition automatically. First verify that you are signed into the purchasing account, that you selected the same platform family, and that the store’s edition eligibility rules allow an upgrade.
How different player types should value the bundle
The campaign-first or occasional player
If your plan is to play the base game and perhaps a little multiplayer, the Standard price is easier to justify. None of the listed Vault items is required to access the base game, and the edition descriptions do not identify a separate campaign, mode, or expansion locked behind Vault.
The customization-focused player
Vault is more defensible when operator appearance and weapon collection items are central to your purchase. You still need to decide whether the two operator packs and Signature Weapon Collection are worth $30 to you; no official cash valuation makes that decision automatically.

The seasonal-content player
BlackCell is listed as one season, so determine whether you expect to participate during that applicable season. It should not be treated as an ongoing subscription or as a promise of every future season.
The DMZ-focused player
A DMZ player may care more about the Deployment Bonus than someone who never enters DMZ. The listing names the bonus but does not quantify its effect or standalone price, so confirm the current product description if that item is the reason you are considering Vault.
Retailer listings, bonuses, and physical preorders
Activision identifies physical Xbox Series X and PS5 editions through select retailers, with the physical Xbox Series X product specifically identified as Standard. A retailer’s use of “deluxe” in a title does not override that edition information.
A Windows Central report dated October 7, 2026 said an Amazon physical Standard Edition preorder included five hours of 2XP tokens. That is a time-sensitive retailer promotion, not a Vault entitlement. Verify the live Amazon listing, the qualifying platform, and the promotion’s terms before relying on it. Do not describe that physical copy as Vault or imply that the tokens include the operator packs, BlackCell season, weapon collection, or DMZ bonus.
Digital ownership and account checks
Digital Vault content is tied to the store purchase and account used at checkout. Before paying, confirm that you are signed into the intended Xbox or Steam account and that the product is for the platform on which you will play. A Standard purchase on one platform should not be assumed to unlock an upgrade listing on another platform.
If you are buying for someone else, check whether the platform’s gifting or account rules support the exact edition. The safest comparison is the product page shown while signed into the recipient’s intended platform account, not a third-party screenshot or a differently priced regional listing.
Release-date and platform timing
Activision and Xbox identify October 23, 2026 as the release date. The US Steam listing displays October 22, 2026. Storefront dates can reflect platform or regional display conventions, so the safest instruction is to use the date shown on your own platform’s live product page. Do not assume that a date displayed on one storefront guarantees the same local release moment elsewhere.
If you are coordinating a launch-day purchase with friends, compare the date, time, region, and platform shown in each person’s store account rather than relying on a screenshot from another storefront.
Xbox Game Pass availability
Activision’s Xbox preorder page states that the game will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch. This is an Xbox-specific, launch-timing statement. It does not establish what may happen later, and it should not be generalized to other platforms or future subscription arrangements.

A practical buying decision
Use this five-question test
- Do you need a disc? If yes, choose the physical Standard Edition.
- Would you buy the operator packs, Signature Weapon Collection, BlackCell season, and DMZ bonus on their own? If no, Standard is the rational default.
- Are you comfortable with digital-only ownership? If no, choose Standard physical media.
- Is the $30 premium affordable without relying on a future discount? If no, buy Standard.
- Are you certain your store account and platform support the desired edition? If uncertain, verify the live listing before checkout.
Three or more “yes” answers to the Vault-focused questions point toward Vault. If your answers are mixed, Standard keeps the initial commitment lower and leaves the listed upgrade route available.

Confusing Deluxe with Vault
Searching only for “Deluxe” can lead to an outdated, informal, or retailer-specific label. Use the official “Vault Edition” name when comparing products and make sure the included-items list matches the current listing.
Assuming a physical Vault copy exists
It does not follow from a retailer’s box art or shorthand description that a disc contains Vault entitlements. Activision identifies physical console editions as Standard and Vault as digital-only.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Assigning a guaranteed cash value to the extras
The store descriptions establish the contents, not an objective $30 valuation. Cosmetics, a seasonal entitlement, and a DMZ bonus are valuable only if you will use them. A player who ignores those features receives no practical benefit from paying the premium.
Reading the release date as universal
October 23 appears on Activision and Xbox materials, while Steam displays October 22 in the US listing. Check your own storefront for the date and local timing.
Expecting Game Pass access on day one
The Xbox preorder information specifically says the game will not be on Xbox Game Pass at launch. Do not delay a purchase on the assumption that a subscription will provide immediate access.
Buying checklist
- Confirm that the product says Standard or Vault Edition, not an ambiguous retailer label.
- Check whether you are buying a physical console copy or a digital license.
- Compare the live local price, tax, and any discount with the listed US reference prices.
- If buying Vault, verify all six listed components: base game, two operator packs, Signature Weapon Collection, one BlackCell season, and DMZ Deployment Bonus.
- If buying an upgrade, confirm Standard ownership on the same platform account.
- Check the release date displayed by your platform, especially if you are comparing Xbox, Steam, and console listings.
- On Xbox, do not count on Game Pass availability at launch.
Final recommendation
For most buyers, Standard is the better default: it provides the base game, costs $30 less on the observed US listings, and is the only physical console option identified by Activision. Vault makes sense when you have a specific reason to want its digital bundle and are happy to pay for those extras now. The edition does not change the underlying game; it changes the amount of bundled digital content and the way you buy it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Deluxe Edition the same as the Vault Edition?
For the current lineup, the premium product is officially called Vault Edition. “Deluxe” is a common informal description, so search for Vault Edition and confirm the included-items list rather than relying on the label alone.

No physical Vault package is identified. Activision describes Vault as digital-only, while physical Xbox Series X and PS5 copies are Standard editions.
What are the US prices?

Xbox and Steam list a $30 Vault Edition Upgrade. Confirm that your Standard ownership is recognized on the same platform account and that the upgrade is still eligible before purchasing.
Does Vault include every future BlackCell season?
No. The package lists one season of BlackCell. It should not be treated as an unlimited or perpetual entitlement.
Is the game on Xbox Game Pass at launch?
Activision’s Xbox preorder information says it will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch. That statement is specific to Xbox and launch timing.
Why do Xbox and Steam show different release dates?
Activision and Xbox identify October 23, 2026, while the US Steam listing displays October 22, 2026. Check your own platform’s live listing for the applicable local date and time.
Does an Amazon physical preorder include Vault extras?
A Windows Central report said an Amazon physical Standard preorder included five hours of 2XP tokens. Verify the live promotion, and do not confuse that retailer bonus with Vault’s operator packs, BlackCell season, weapon collection, or DMZ bonus.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Buy Standard for the base game, a lower price, or a physical disc. Buy Vault only if its specific digital extras are worth $30 to you, and verify the live platform listing before checkout.
