Which charging setting should you use?
Choose based on whether you want charging protection or a full battery now. Xiaomi’s support instructions describe different modes on different models, so treat the names and behavior below as model-dependent rather than universal.

An 80% stop is an operating threshold used by some protection features, not proof that the battery is faulty or a promise of a particular lifespan improvement. Xiaomi’s support pages describe the behavior but do not establish a general measured lifespan gain.

Check the exact model and software version before following a menu route. Xiaomi’s support pages show more than one location and use different labels:

If those routes do not match your phone, look under the Battery settings or in the Security app; do not assume that a control documented for one model exists on another.
Why does my Xiaomi phone stop charging at 80%?
Some Xiaomi-family phones stop near 80% when a battery-protection mode is enabled. This can be intentional: the feature limits how long the battery remains fully charged. How do I turn off the 80% battery limit?
- Open Settings > Battery > Battery protection, or look for the equivalent battery controls in the Security app if that is where your model places them.
- Check which charging mode is selected. If your phone offers Regular charging, select it to allow charging to 100%.
- If the labels or route differ, use support instructions for your exact model and software version. Xiaomi documents Regular, Limited, Optimized, and Smart charging options on some devices, not all of them. REDMI Note 12 charging options.
If the phone still will not charge beyond the limit after checking its protection setting, the support pages cited here do not establish a single explanation for every model; consult the model-specific troubleshooting guidance rather than assuming a hardware fault.

How do I make my Xiaomi battery last longer today?
Turn on Battery saver when you need additional runtime from the charge you already have. Xiaomi describes reduced background activity and limits on power-consuming functions. Depending on the model, performance or location services may also be restricted.

Choose Ultra battery saver only when those ordinary limits are not enough: on the POCO F6 Pro, Xiaomi says it further restricts background processes and leaves only essential apps and services available. POCO F6 Pro battery modes.

Use an optimized or nighttime protection mode for everyday charging if your phone provides it and its adapted timing suits your routine. Choose Regular charging when reaching 100% promptly is more important—for example, before travel. Both choices are model-dependent, and the support material does not quantify a universal battery-life benefit or extra runtime for either option.
