The bank tied to a particular card or account depends on the feature; there is not one bank that applies to every Cash App user.
What banks are associated with Cash App?
Cash App’s current U.S. terms list three banks that may hold eligible customer funds: Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., Sutton Bank, and The Bancorp Bank, N.A. The terms say funds may be placed at one or more of these banks. Block operates Cash App as a financial services platform; the partner banks provide certain banking services and may hold funds. This list does not mean users choose one of three banks when opening a Cash App account, or that every customer’s balance is held at all three. Cash App says it may add or remove banks without notice, so the list can change.

Which bank issues a Cash App Card?
The issuing bank depends on the type of card. Cash App’s disclosures, effective April 16, 2026 and last updated April 17, 2026, distinguish the standard prepaid card from the Visa Debit Flex Card:

Cash App’s Affiliate Disclosures identify these card-issuer relationships. A card issuer is a narrower role than the banks that may hold eligible Cash App balances, so the issuer name alone does not establish where a user’s balance is held.
How to find the bank and account details for your Cash App account
For your own routing and account numbers, use Cash App’s in-app account details rather than guessing from a general list of partner banks. Cash App’s help page says you need a Cash App Card to view them:

- If you believe that your Card has been lost or stolen, notify Mastercard immediately by calling 1-833-791-7288. You will be asked to provide the Gift Card number and other identifying information.
- Use your Mastercard Gift Card in the U.S. everywhere Mastercard debit cards are accepted, including online. Your Amazon.com Balance cannot be used to purchase Mastercard gift cards.
- Open Cash App and tap Money.
- Tap your Cash balance.
- Open the account details to see the routing and account numbers displayed for your account.

Cash App is not itself an FDIC-insured bank. Its terms describe conditional pass-through FDIC insurance for eligible balances held at participating program banks. Under the terms, coverage may be up to $250,000 per customer at each bank, subject to eligibility and aggregation with the customer’s other deposits held at that bank in the same legal capacity. Funds must meet the terms’ requirements for the account type and be received and held by a program bank; pending funds may not yet qualify. Bitcoin and investing holdings are not covered by deposit insurance.

- To access your card information safely, type the complete website address shown on your Gift Card (MyGift.GiftCardMall.com) directly into your browser's address bar. Don't use search engines or shortened versions of the website address, as these may lead you to fake or fraudulent sites. Do not provide any Gift Card details (example: Card Number) to someone you do not know or trust. If you believe you've reached an illegitimate website, contact cardholder service at 1-888-524-1283. Be cautious of phishing sites, there are a variety of scams in which fraudsters try to trick others into paying with gift cards.
- To report your Lost or Stolen Physical Visa Card, call Customer Service 24/7 at 1 (888) 524-1283 to cancel your Gift Card as soon as you can. You will be asked to provide the Gift Card number and other identifying information.
- Use your Visa Gift Card in the U.S. everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted, including online.
That means it is inaccurate to assume every Cash App balance is automatically insured. Review the current terms for the conditions that apply to your account.
