How to change picture and sound modes
Menu wording can vary by firmware. Nebula’s support instructions give these paths:

- Picture: All settings > Display & Sound > Picture > Picture mode. The listed options are Nebula Master, Standard, Vivid, Sports, Movies, Games, and Conference.
- Sound: All Settings > Display and Sound > Sound > Sound Mode. The listed options are Movies, Music, Outdoors, and Custom.
Use the mode names as a first selection, then judge the image and audio in your room. Nebula’s descriptions explain intended uses; they are not a per-unit calibration report.

Movies or Nebula Master for a dark room
Nebula describes Movies as a mode for color accuracy or low-light viewing, and Nebula Master as suitable for video and movies in a dark room. They are reasonable options to compare for a film; keep the one that looks most natural to you. If the image appears too processed, avoid assuming that a preset name alone guarantees accurate color.

Standard, Vivid, Sports, and Conference for other content
- Standard: Nebula recommends it for everyday television and news in a lit environment.
- Vivid: Try it if you prefer more vivid color or are watching with some ambient light. It cannot compensate for every bright-room condition.
- Sports: The named starting point for sports viewing.
- Conference: Intended for presentations, teaching, or video conferencing in very bright environments.
The P1 is specified by Nebula as a 1080p Full HD projector with 650 ANSI lumens. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent brightness measurements or a promise that any preset will overcome daylight. TechRadar characterizes the P1 as better suited to dim or dark viewing, though it found bright, colorful content remained watchable with some ambient light. Its review also observed more visible pixel structure on images larger than about 100 inches; treat that as a reviewer’s experience, not a universal size cutoff. Use reviewer adjustments as experiments, not prescriptions
In its test, What Hi-Fi? selected Movie mode, set MEMC to Low, and reduced sharpness and saturation from their defaults. The reviewer reported more natural motion and a more balanced image, while also noting limitations in color, over-sharpened outlines, and shadow detail. Those observations can suggest what to try if motion or edges look artificial, but they do not establish settings that will suit every P1, screen, room, or firmware version. What Hi-Fi? review

Set up the image before using digital correction
Get the projector physically aligned and focused before correcting the picture electronically. Nebula’s product page lists automatic focus, keystone, screen fit, and obstacle avoidance. TechRadar notes that digital keystone, zoom, and rotation adjustments can reduce usable image area or pixels, so use them only when placement cannot solve the geometry.
- Place and aim the projector: Square it to the screen where possible, and choose the image size and distance before fine-tuning the picture.
- Focus: Press the remote’s Focus button, or go to All Settings > Projector > Focus > Start Auto Focus. If autofocus does not make the image clear, long-press Focus, choose Manual Focus, then use the left/right arrows.
- Correct skew only if needed: Go to All settings > Projector > Keystone correction > Start Auto Keystone Correction or Perform Manual Keystone Correction.
- Select a picture mode: Choose the preset for the room and content, then decide whether any additional image-processing adjustment is actually needed.

Choose sound mode by listening goal
- Movies: Raises overall loudness and enhances low and high frequencies for a more dynamic cinematic profile.
- Music: Aims for balanced, natural reproduction of vocals and instruments.
- Outdoors: Slightly reduces bass and raises maximum volume to help sound carry in an open or noisy space.
- Custom: Lets you tune bass and treble. Nebula does not give target settings, so make small adjustments by ear.
These descriptions indicate tonal direction, not measured frequency response or a calibrated equalizer curve. Reviewers’ impressions are subjective: What Hi-Fi? calls the sound clean and punchy, while TechRadar found dialogue intelligible and the detachable speakers capable of a wide soundstage, but described bass depth and fullness as limited. The P1’s speakers detach, so their placement and your listening position can affect the perceived stereo width. Nebula advertises wireless stereo and up to 20 hours of speaker playback; that runtime is a manufacturer claim about speaker playback, not projector runtime. Which picture mode should I use?
Start with Movies for a film in a dark room, Standard for everyday TV in a lit room, Sports for sports, and Games for responsive play. Try Vivid if you prefer stronger color or Conference for presentations in very bright environments. Compare presets in your actual room rather than treating any one as a universal calibration.

How do I change the sound mode?
Open All Settings > Display and Sound > Sound > Sound Mode, then choose Movies, Music, Outdoors, or Custom. Menu labels may vary by firmware.
How do I fix a blurry or crooked projection?
Use autofocus first, then manual focus if needed. If the frame remains skewed after physical repositioning, use the Keystone correction options under All settings > Projector. Avoid digital correction when physically aligning the projector can solve the issue.
