The apps that make the best use of a foldable phone’s large inner display are the ones that add useful structure, not merely enlarged buttons. Google has documented strong large-screen behavior in Google Calendar, YouTube Music, Calm, Candy Crush Soda Saga, Peloton, SideChef, LINE, Deezer, Google Weather and Google Keep. Their benefits include two-pane list-and-detail views, tabletop layouts, split-screen workflows and continuity when you unfold the phone.
On Samsung Galaxy Z Fold phones, Multi view and Multi window can make many ordinary apps useful even when they do not have a bespoke foldable design. Actual behavior still depends on the phone model, Android version, app release, country and account, so treat the list below as a practical starting point rather than a permanent compatibility guarantee.

What makes an app good on a foldable inner screen?
A large inner panel is valuable when an app changes its information architecture for the extra width. Android calls this an adaptive layout: the interface responds to window size, orientation and posture instead of simply stretching a phone layout.
Useful panes instead of empty width
The clearest improvement is a two-pane arrangement. A list can remain visible while the selected item opens beside it, or controls can stay on one side while supporting information appears on the other. This reduces back-and-forth navigation and lets you keep context.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Continuity while folding and unfolding
A well-behaved app preserves your place, selected item, playback position or partially completed task when the device changes between its cover and inner displays. Rotation, unfolding and resizing can recreate an Android activity, so apps need to save and restore state correctly.
Posture-aware controls
Foldables can be used flat, in book posture, in landscape or partly open in tabletop or tent positions. Good apps move controls and content to the portions of the screen that remain comfortable to view and touch, rather than putting important buttons across the hinge area.
Multitasking that supports a task
Split-screen is most useful when the two apps have a reason to be visible together: a recipe and a timer, a video and notes, or a message thread beside a reference page. Basic resizing alone does not make an app optimized for foldables.

Documented apps that use the inner display well
Google’s 2023 large-screen announcements described more than 50 updated Google apps and highlighted the examples below. The behaviors were documented at that time; an app update, regional build or device-specific window can change the current result.
| App | What the inner screen adds | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| Google Calendar | Monthly calendar and event details can appear side by side, with a transition from the cover display to the inner display. | Checking dates while reading or editing an event |
| YouTube Music | Lyrics and related content sit beside playback controls; a two-column playlist supports scanning and reordering. | Listening while browsing a queue or following lyrics |
| Calm | Vertical navigation reduces scrolling and the layout shifts between folded and unfolded states. | Finding sessions and starting a meditation |
| Candy Crush Soda Saga | The game uses more of the available area and adapts between portrait and landscape. | Playing with a larger view without forcing one orientation |
| Peloton | In tabletop posture, the workout occupies the upper half while health metrics appear below. | Hands-free exercise on a desk or floor |
| SideChef | Recipe steps can sit beside a timer or measurement calculator in a split layout. | Cooking without repeatedly leaving the recipe |
| LINE | A two-pane view keeps the chat list visible beside the selected conversation. | Moving between conversations quickly |
| Deezer | Album art and lyrics can share space with playback controls and sharing access. | Music discovery and lyric reading |
| Google Weather | The folded view emphasizes today’s forecast; the unfolded view exposes more information in two panes. | Scanning current conditions and forecast details |
| Google Keep | Notes remain in one pane while the selected note opens in another. | Scanning a note list while editing a note |
These examples represent different patterns rather than a universal ranking. Calendar, Keep and LINE demonstrate list-and-detail navigation; SideChef demonstrates purposeful split-screen work; Peloton demonstrates tabletop posture; and YouTube Music and Deezer show how media apps can place supporting information beside controls.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Best choices by the task you want to do
Planning and reference
Google Calendar is a strong choice when you need to inspect a month and edit an event without losing the surrounding schedule. Google Keep is useful for a similar reason: the note index stays available while you read or revise the selected note. Google Weather uses the extra area to expose more forecast context than the folded view.
Music and spoken content
YouTube Music and Deezer are the most relevant examples for media. Their documented layouts keep playback controls available while lyrics, album information or sharing actions remain visible. That is more useful than a phone interface that simply scales up a single column.

SideChef’s recipe-plus-timer arrangement is a practical demonstration of why a foldable can replace a small tablet in the kitchen. Peloton’s tabletop design puts the workout above and metrics below, allowing you to exercise without holding the phone. A stable surface is still important; the hinge does not make every position safe or comfortable.
Messaging
LINE’s conversation list and selected chat in one view reduce navigation when you are handling multiple threads. Whether the same arrangement appears in your country and account depends on the app’s regional UI specification.
Games and wellness
Candy Crush Soda Saga is documented as adapting between portrait and landscape while using more of the display. Calm reduces scrolling by using vertical navigation and changes its arrangement when the phone is folded or unfolded.

Samsung features that improve apps without a special redesign
On supported Galaxy Z Fold devices, Samsung’s Multi view can place compatible apps such as Settings and Samsung Messages in dual columns. Multi window adds split-screen and pop-up views, so an app that is not fully adaptive can still participate in a useful workflow.
Multi view
Multi view presents related sections of a supported app at the same time. Samsung’s large-screen guidance recommends an approximately 50:50 pane ratio on Z Fold devices because equal columns usually preserve readable text and touch targets. The exact controls and supported apps vary by One UI release and model.
Multi window
Use split-screen when two apps need persistent visibility, or a pop-up window when one task is secondary. Samsung’s guidance describes up to three split-screen views and five pop-up views simultaneously, but memory, screen orientation and the individual app can limit what is practical. More windows do not automatically produce a better workflow; keep only the panes you can comfortably read.
Flex mode
Flex mode changes an app’s arrangement when the hinge is partly open. Samsung lists Camera, YouTube and Google Meet as examples of activities that can use cover or tent views, with a Flex mode panel and touchpad available on supported models. Samsung states that compatibility varies by app and that the feature is not supported on Galaxy Z TriFold or Z Fold8. Check the exact model’s support page before relying on a posture-specific control.
How to test an app on your own foldable
Because documented behavior can age, test the current Play Store build on the device you actually use. A five-minute check reveals more than a generic “tablet optimized” label.

- Install the latest available version from Google Play and sign in with the account you normally use. Regional or account-specific interfaces can differ.
- Open the app on the cover display, then unfold it without leaving the current screen. Check whether your selection, scroll position and unfinished entry remain intact.
- Rotate the inner display between portrait and landscape. Look for clipped text, controls hidden under the hinge or buttons that become too far apart to reach.
- Try the app in book or tabletop posture if your phone supports it. Confirm that video, timers, controls and touch input move to sensible areas.
- Open split-screen with a complementary app such as Notes, a browser or a timer. Resize the divider and verify that both apps remain usable rather than collapsing into a narrow phone column.
- Compare the current screenshots and description in Google Play with what appears on your device. A warning about large-screen quality is a reason to test carefully, not proof that every function will fail.
Android and version caveats for 2026
Multi-window is a baseline, not optimization
Android 12 and later run all apps in multi-window mode on large screens by default. This means an app should be launchable in a split view, but it does not promise a two-pane design, preserved state or sensible hinge placement.
API 36 expectations
Current Android platform guidance says apps targeting API 36 on large-screen devices with a smallest width of at least 600dp should support all orientations, aspect ratios and app resizability as a baseline, although developers can opt out. Google Play requires API 36 targeting for apps as of August 2026. These requirements improve the floor for compatibility; they do not guarantee that an app will expose extra content or use tabletop posture well.
Model, country and release differences
Foldables differ in aspect ratio, hinge position, available modes and manufacturer software. Google’s examples came from announcements in 2023, while Samsung’s Flex mode support is model-dependent. An app may therefore match the documented layout on one foldable and show a simpler interface on another, or change after an update.
Common problems and practical fixes
The app is stretched instead of adaptive
Try the app in split-screen or pop-up mode and adjust the divider. If text and controls remain in a single narrow column with large empty margins, there may be no app-side fix; choose a task that benefits from the larger window or use another app with a documented two-pane layout.
Recommended Free Tools
Your place is lost when unfolding
Update the app and phone software, then repeat the fold-and-unfold test. If the problem persists, avoid changing posture during data entry or playback and save drafts manually. State restoration is the developer’s responsibility, so a user setting cannot fully repair an app that discards its activity state.

Apply even pressure for a few seconds to allow the suction cup to adhere properly. To maintain the grip and prevent accidental falls, it's a good practice to periodically reapply pressure to the suction cup.
Flex mode controls do not appear
Confirm that the phone model supports Flex mode, that the app is listed as compatible and that the hinge is open within the supported angle. Samsung says compatibility varies by app; a missing panel is not necessarily a hardware fault.
Touch targets fall near the hinge
Rotate the phone or switch to a different posture. If the app offers a layout or display setting, choose the arrangement that places primary controls on one side. Do not force repeated taps across the crease, especially during cooking or exercise.
Should you buy an accessory for tabletop use?
A stand can make a tabletop workout, recipe or video more stable, but it is optional. Many foldables already hold a partly open angle through their hinge. Check that a stand fits the phone’s thickness, camera bump and case, and do not cover vents or rely on a loose hinge position near the edge of a surface.
A practical shortlist
For a first set of downloads, start with Google Calendar or Google Keep for two-pane organization, SideChef for a genuine split-screen task, Peloton for tabletop exercise, and YouTube Music or Deezer for media layouts. Add LINE if you manage many conversations, Google Weather for forecast scanning, Calm for guided sessions and Candy Crush Soda Saga for a game that adapts orientation. Then verify each app after installation because current support can differ by model, region and version.
