Ancient Hero gear in The Blood of Dawnwalker is collected through three separate routes: search the ruins beneath Svartrau for the Armour and related loot, complete Xanthe’s activities for the Vambraces and Footwear, and choose to destroy the Font of Life in Anca’s quest to earn the Greaves. Erkas’s Sword is a separate quest reward, not a piece of the armor set. The stats below are reference values from guides and equipment pages; item level and character effects can change what appears in your game.

The equipment references warn that values can scale with item level and character effects, so treat the listed levels and combat numbers as guide snapshots rather than guaranteed values for every save (Dawnwalker Wiki: Armour; Dawnwalker Wiki: Greaves).

Find Ancient Hero’s Armour in the Svartrau ruins
The Armour is a unique heavy chestpiece in the ancient ruins beneath Svartrau, associated with the “A Hero’s End” quest route. Follow Father Florin’s path underground, pass the Fallen Witch, and continue to the final armor encounter. After defeating Rigoz, open the chest behind him to collect the Armour (Nerd’s Chalk; Dawnwalker Wiki).

At the stone chest, collect The Hand of Fate and Ancient Hero’s Ring. Continue through the crack on the right, take the key from the corpse below, return to the gate, and proceed through the ruins toward the Fallen Witch and Rigoz encounter (Nerd’s Chalk). The same underground area also connects to Erkas’s Sword, but that is a separate reward.

The Armour reference lists base armour 91, weight 10.9 kg, and bonuses to human health restoration, activation-charge restoration from actions, damage against supernatural enemies, and Witchcraft Ability Damage. Nerd’s Chalk’s displayed level-20 values are 10.9 weight and +12.7%, +5.9%, and +5.9% for three effects; it does not present those display figures as universal base values. Use the equipment page’s base figures when comparing the item conceptually, and your in-game tooltip for the value in your save (Dawnwalker Wiki; Nerd’s Chalk).
Get the Vambraces from Xanthe’s transport activity
For Ancient Hero’s Vambraces, start Xanthe’s Transports activity titled “When Two Dogs…” and go to the wagon. Clear the surrounding bandits, then search the rear cargo for the reward (Nerd’s Chalk).

Nerd’s Chalk gives a level-30 display value of 165 armour and describes effects involving maximum human health, activation-charge restoration from Perfect Blocks and actions, and dodge stamina cost. Its visible summary does not provide the percentages, so compare the exact effects and values in your own item tooltip rather than assuming figures not listed in the guide.

- Collect the Ritual Dagger from the wall.
- During daytime, use Compel Soul on the corpse beside the chest to open the reward chest.
The daytime condition matters: the walkthrough says the required interaction is available then. Its displayed reference values for the heavy boots are level 32 and 208 armour; use the in-game tooltip for the value in your character’s current build (Nerd’s Chalk).
Choose between Ancient Greaves and the Font of Life perk
Ancient Greaves come from a consequential choice in Anca’s quest line. Complete “Where Old Devils Lie” and continue through “Stronger Than Achilles.” At the Font of Life, choose “We should destroy it,” then search the debris or pedestal for the Greaves (Nerd’s Chalk).

Letting Coen drink from the Font instead grants the Font of Life perk, which the item guide describes as restoring human health outside combat. The choice is therefore between the Greaves’ equipment bonuses and that perk, not simply a step on the way to both rewards. Allowing Anca to use the Font leads to a third choice with its own conditional shop selection, as described by the equipment reference (Dawnwalker Wiki).

Erkas’s Sword is a legendary longsword, not an Ancient Hero armor piece. Reach the underground ruins from Destroyed Shrine, inspect the fresco murals to trigger the encounter, defeat Erkas the Repenter, and loot his body. Nerd’s Chalk lists a level-32 snapshot of 446 DPS and 373–390 damage; those figures should not be used to declare it universally stronger than another weapon unless item level and build context match (Nerd’s Chalk).
The ruins also contain The Hand of Fate, a level-19 legendary shortsword listed at 262 DPS and 152–215 damage, plus the level-19 epic Ancient Hero’s Ring. These are additional underground finds, not rewards that complete the armor collection (Nerd’s Chalk).
How to compare the pieces in your save
- For armor rating: compare the live item tooltips at their current levels, not the guide’s level-11, level-20, level-30, or level-32 snapshots.
- For build fit: the chestpiece supports human health restoration, action-based charge recovery, supernatural damage, and Witchcraft Ability Damage; the Greaves emphasize magic damage and charge recovery, with magic damage reduction. The Vambraces’ listed effect categories favor health, charge restoration, and dodge stamina.
- For the Font decision: weigh the Greaves’ combat bonuses against the Font of Life perk’s out-of-combat human health restoration before choosing.
- For weapons: compare DPS and damage only at comparable item levels and with the same character/build context; the reference values are not a universal ranking.
Platforms and source scope
Bandai Namco lists The Blood of Dawnwalker for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S and identifies physical editions on its official game page (Bandai Namco). The locations and item details in this guide come from independent walkthrough and equipment-reference pages, not an official item database, so treat the route and stats as guide-reported information and confirm changing values in-game.
