Which 4K 144Hz Gaming Monitor Should You Buy? 5 Models to Consider

For a 4K gaming monitor that can reach 144Hz on a PC, five models stand out for different reasons: the Gigabyte M32U for connectivity, LG UltraGear 32GR93U-B for its listed gaming features, ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQ for console-friendly HDMI 2.1, Samsung Odyssey G70D S32DG70 as a model to compare, and Gigabyte M32UC if you want a curved screen. This is a reasoned shortlist, not a universal performance ranking: the available evidence is a mix of manufacturer specifications and third-party assessments, not a matched head-to-head test.

One important distinction for console buyers: a monitor’s 144Hz PC specification does not mean a console will output 4K at 144Hz. The cited ASUS and Gigabyte information describes 4K/120Hz console support. Check the exact regional model and current listing before buying.

How to choose among these 4K 144Hz monitors

Start with the device you plan to connect, then weigh screen shape, adaptive sync, HDR expectations, and desk features. The models below meet the broad 4K/144Hz category, but the source material does not establish a single best-performing monitor across all five.

  • For console play: confirm HDMI 2.1 and the console modes the manufacturer specifies. Do not assume 144Hz is available from a console.
  • For a PC: check which input supports the advertised resolution and refresh rate, and whether a feature such as Display Stream Compression is required.
  • For variable frame rates: verify VRR compatibility with your graphics card or console. A 144Hz maximum does not guarantee identical motion clarity at lower refresh rates.
  • For HDR: treat a DisplayHDR tier or HDR label as a specification, not proof of impressive real-world HDR.
  • For a multi-device desk: check the exact USB-C power delivery, KVM, USB hub, stand adjustments, and included cables. USB-C does not necessarily provide enough power to charge a laptop.

Five models to consider

1. Gigabyte M32U: a feature-rich flat-screen option

Gigabyte lists the 31.5-inch M32U at 3840 × 2160 and up to 144Hz, with HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC, and USB-C. Its manufacturer specification lists 120Hz console game support, so the 144Hz headline is not a promise of 4K/144Hz console output. Gigabyte’s M32U specifications describe the product features.

RTINGS’ review describes VRR, a KVM switch, a USB hub, and USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode with 15W charging. It rates the M32U’s PC gaming performance as decent and console gaming as very good. The review also reports more blur and inverse ghosting at lower refresh rates, a useful caveat if your frame rate varies substantially. Fifteen watts is limited power for laptop charging. RTINGS’ M32U review covers its testing and observations.

2. LG UltraGear 32GR93U-B: a 32-inch IPS model with stated sync features

LG lists 3840 × 2160 resolution, 144Hz, 1ms GtG response time, HDMI 2.1, G-SYNC Compatible, FreeSync Premium, DisplayHDR 400, and an adjustable stand. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent comparative results; confirm the regional SKU and its precise ports before purchase. LG’s product page lists the model’s features.

3. ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQ: a console-connectivity candidate

ASUS describes this as a 32-inch 4K UHD IPS display with 144Hz PC support and HDMI 2.1. ASUS says it supports native 4K/120Hz console play without chroma subsampling and 4K/144Hz PC play over DisplayPort 1.4 using Display Stream Compression. It also lists DisplayHDR 600. These are ASUS specifications, not a guarantee of identical performance across every source device or game. ASUS’s PG32UQ product page has the manufacturer’s details.

4. Samsung Odyssey G70D S32DG70: compare the exact model and review findings

RTINGS identifies the reviewed Odyssey G70D S32DG70 as a 32-inch 4K 144Hz IPS monitor and names several competing displays. The material available here establishes its category, but not enough comparative test findings to support calling it the best in a particular use case. Use the exact model number to find current regional specifications and a full review before deciding. RTINGS’ Odyssey G70D review is the relevant independent-review page.

5. Gigabyte M32UC: a curved alternative

The Gigabyte M32UC is a 31.5-inch curved monitor specified for 4K at 144Hz, with HDMI 2.1 and USB-C. TechRadar’s 2025 guide selected it as its best curved 4K gaming monitor for most people; that is one publication’s dated editorial assessment, not a universal ranking. The guide notes that its USB-C does not supply enough power to charge a laptop and that color settings needed adjustment. It describes the monitor as HDR400, but an HDR label alone does not establish strong HDR performance. TechRadar’s 2025 guide provides the selection and caveats.

Another model worth comparing

TechRadar’s same 2025 guide also discusses the Corsair Xeneon 32UHD144 as an excellent 4K 144Hz option, while noting its high price and HDR performance it considers underwhelming for that price. Treat that as the publication’s assessment at the time, and check current pricing and a current listing before weighing it against the shortlist.

Acer Nitro 27in 4K 3840x2160 IPS 72Hz DFR 144Hz Gaming Monitor VG270K L1
  • Quality Visuals: The VG270K 27" IPS monitor with 3840 x 2160 UHD resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio presents stunning, high-quality images with excellent detail. The zero-frame design does away with the thick frames found on conventional monitors freeing up precious screen space.
  • AMD FreeSync Technology: Say “goodbye” to stuttering and tearing. With AMD FreeSync, the monitor’s frames are synced with the graphics card’s frames, which eliminates screen tearing and provides the smoothest gaming experience.
  • Quick Refresh Rate: Different content has different refresh rate and resolution requirements. If you are playing an FPS or racing game, you will need a monitor with a high refresh rate. However, if you are doing office work or streaming videos, a higher resolution will be more beneficial. With DFR technology, users can choose a higher resolution, or a higher refresh rate based on what is suitable for them.
  • Responsive: Up to 0.5ms GTG (Gray to Gray) response time enhanced gamers’ in-game experience. No matter if the fast-moving action or any dramatic transitions will be rendered smoothly without the annoying effects of smearing or ghosting
  • ZeroFrame Design: With a Nitro VG270K monitor, you’ll want to see as much of the display as possible. Get more real estate with the near bezel-less design, allowing you to see more and do more. The ZeroFrame design lets you place multiple monitors next to each other for a seamless, almost uninterrupted view.

What the 4K and 144Hz numbers mean for your setup

Console refresh rate is not the PC refresh rate

ASUS describes 4K/120Hz console support for the PG32UQ, and Gigabyte lists 120Hz console game support for the M32U. Those specifications illustrate why a 144Hz monitor does not automatically deliver 144Hz from a console. Confirm the console’s supported output, the monitor’s input mode, and the game’s frame-rate options.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Check the input path for PC gaming

A 4K/144Hz mode can depend on the connection and supported features. For example, ASUS specifies DisplayPort 1.4 with Display Stream Compression for 4K/144Hz PC play on the PG32UQ, while Gigabyte lists DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC for the M32U. Check the GPU, cable, and exact monitor input requirements rather than relying on the refresh-rate figure alone.

Panel, sync, and motion behavior are separate questions

Most models in this shortlist are described as IPS or IPS-class flat panels; the M32UC is the curved alternative. Specifications for G-SYNC Compatible, FreeSync, or VRR are not interchangeable guarantees for every device combination. The M32U review’s reported blur and inverse ghosting at lower refresh rates is a reminder that maximum refresh alone does not describe performance throughout the full range.

HDR labels do not settle image quality

The cited specifications list DisplayHDR 400 for the LG and DisplayHDR 600 for the ASUS, while TechRadar describes the M32UC as HDR400. These labels help identify stated capabilities, but they do not establish how convincing HDR will look in a room or in a particular game. Consider independent testing of brightness, contrast, and local dimming if HDR is a priority.

Check these details before ordering

  1. Match the SKU: verify the full model code and regional version on the manufacturer’s page and seller listing. Similar names can hide different specifications.
  2. Confirm your connection: check which HDMI or DisplayPort input supports your needed resolution and refresh rate, and whether DSC is required.
  3. Verify console modes: look for an explicit 4K/120Hz mode and confirm compatibility with your console; do not infer console 144Hz support from the PC specification.
  4. Check your preferred extras: confirm VRR support, USB-C power delivery, KVM, USB hub, stand adjustments, and cable inclusions for the exact version.
  5. Compare live terms: check local price, stock, warranty, and return policy on the purchase date. Current local prices, availability, and warranty terms are not established by the cited product and review pages here.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
