If you mean one of the modern Doctor Who New Year’s specials, U.S. viewers should check AMC+ and UK viewers should check BBC iPlayer. The three episodes are Resolution, Revolution of the Daleks and Eve of the Daleks. As of August 2026, no new New Year’s special has been announced for 2026; the BBC has announced a Christmas special instead.
Which Doctor Who New Year’s special are you looking for?
“The New Year’s special” can mean any of three episodes starring Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor. Match the clues to the title before searching a streaming service:

Where to watch in the United States
AMC+ is the announced U.S. streaming home for the 2005–2022 Doctor Who library, including specials. The official announcement says the exclusive U.S. streaming rights began June 11, 2026 and cover 13 seasons and 175 episodes. Check the official rights announcement for the scope of the catalog.
Search AMC+ for the episode’s exact title: Resolution, Revolution of the Daleks or Eve of the Daleks. A special may appear within a season listing or a “specials” section rather than under a category called “New Year’s Special.” The announcement covers the 2005–2022 library; it does not establish that newer productions, including the announced Christmas 2026 special, are included.
If you only want one episode, check current digital storefront listings before subscribing. Availability and purchase rights can vary by title, country and store; the following services are places to check, not confirmed listings for every special: Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Google TV, Fandango at Home and the Microsoft Store.
Where to watch in the United Kingdom
BBC iPlayer is the UK destination for Doctor Who episodes and specials that are currently available. Search for the individual episode title on BBC iPlayer, rather than relying only on “New Year’s Special.” The BBC was the original broadcast home for these episodes, but that history does not guarantee each older special will remain in iPlayer’s catalogue indefinitely. Check the live listing; BBC account and UK viewing requirements may apply.
Is the New Year’s special on Disney+?
Not as a blanket answer. Disney+ carried newer Doctor Who releases outside the UK and Ireland under the BBC–Disney distribution arrangement, including the 60th-anniversary specials and the 2024 season, as described in Disney’s 60th-anniversary announcement and its 2024 season announcement. Those newer releases are distinct from the 2005–2022 library. In the U.S., the official June 2026 rights announcement places that older library, including specials, on AMC+.
For other countries, availability depends on territory and episode era. Use the official Doctor Who viewing information to check local options; a service carrying newer episodes does not necessarily carry these older specials.

Is there a new Doctor Who New Year’s special in 2026?
No 2026 New Year’s special has been announced in the available official information. The most recent one is still Eve of the Daleks, which premiered January 1, 2022. The BBC has announced a Christmas 2026 special written by Russell T Davies, not a New Year’s episode; see the BBC announcement.
Quick clues if you remember the story
- First Thirteenth Doctor New Year’s special, from 2019: Resolution.

- A time loop at a storage facility: Eve of the Daleks.
If the episode does not appear
- Search using the exact episode title from the identification table.
- Check the country associated with your streaming account; catalogs differ by territory.
- Search within the platform itself and inspect both season listings and any “specials” section.
- If it is not streaming, check current title-specific listings at legitimate digital storefronts before buying.
- Treat older pages naming HBO Max/Max or BBC America as potentially outdated U.S. guidance. BBC America carried these specials at broadcast time, but that does not establish it as their current U.S. streaming home.
