But it is not a guarantee that every title, season, or live channel is available: rights, plan, location, and date matter. For free viewing, check Pluto TV for the specific show; its availability is selective, not a promise of a full channel or catalog.
Which service should you use?
| What you want to watch | Where to start | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| A current CBS show after it airs | Paramount+ Essential or Premium | New episodes are generally available on demand the day after broadcast; check the individual program. |
| Your local CBS station live | Paramount+ Premium, where available | This is different from watching a CBS episode on demand, and it may not provide every function or program of a local affiliate. |
| MTV programming | A participating TV provider, or select episodes on Paramount+ or Pluto TV | Streaming select episodes is not the same as getting the full linear MTV channel. |
| Paramount Network programming | A participating TV provider, or select episodes on Paramount+ or Pluto TV | Check the exact series and season; the streaming selection is not the full channel feed. |
| Nickelodeon shows | Search Paramount+ for the title | Nickelodeon is among Paramount+’s content brands, but availability of a particular show or season is not guaranteed. |
| A no-subscription option | Search Pluto TV for the named program | Pluto TV is described as free, but the official network pages promise only select episodes. |
Where can you watch CBS shows?
For current CBS shows, Paramount’s CBS viewing guide says new episodes are generally available on demand the day after they air on both Essential and Premium. “Generally” is important: availability can differ by show, so look up the specific program rather than assuming every CBS series follows the same schedule.

Watch an episode after broadcast
Either Paramount+ plan can be a route to next-day episodes, subject to the title being available. This is on-demand viewing, not access to the live local CBS station.
Watch your local CBS station live
The guide lists the local live CBS station as a Premium feature where available. Paramount+ does not necessarily replace every program or function provided by your local CBS affiliate. The guide also distinguishes Paramount+ from CBS.com and the CBS app when accessed with a participating TV-provider login.
#1 Best Overall
- Watch over 40,000 full episodes on demand from hit series like Survivor, NCIS, Big Brother and more
- Get hooked on subscriber-only originals
- Make every night a movie night with blockbuster hits and fan-favorite films
- To Redeem: Go to paramountplus.com/redeem
- No returns and no refunds on gift cards.
Check live sports separately
The CBS guide says NFL on CBS games may stream on either Paramount+ plan in the viewer’s local CBS market. That is a specific sports exception, not a general promise that all live CBS programming is included; game availability and market restrictions apply.
Can you watch Nickelodeon on Paramount+?
Yes, Paramount identifies Nickelodeon as one of the brands represented on Paramount+. Its US signup page also promotes episodes from Nickelodeon alongside other networks. That supports using Paramount+ as a place to check, but it does not establish that every Nickelodeon show, episode, or season is in the current catalog. Search for the exact title and season before subscribing for it.

Where can you watch MTV and Paramount Network?
MTV and Paramount Network distinguish TV-provider access from streaming episodes. Their official viewing pages say viewers can watch through participating TV providers, while select episodes are available on Paramount+ or Pluto TV. Those statements do not mean either service carries the complete MTV or Paramount Network linear channel.

Is Pluto TV free, and what can you watch there?
Paramount describes Pluto TV as a free streaming service. MTV and Paramount Network list it as one option for select episodes, not as a complete substitute for their TV channels or full catalogs. If you want to avoid a subscription, search Pluto TV for the show and verify that the episode you want is available.
How much does Paramount+ cost, and what does each plan change?
Paramount’s US CBS guide, updated October 1, 2026, listed Essential at $8.99 per month and Premium at $13.99 per month. The US signup page reviewed October 4, 2026, also listed plans starting at $8.99 per month and Premium at $13.99 per month. These are dated US prices, not guarantees of current or future pricing; confirm the price and features on the signup page before paying.

|---|---|---|
| Essential | Current CBS primetime episodes generally available on demand the day after broadcast | Lower-priced, ad-supported plan |
| Premium | Current CBS primetime episodes generally available on demand the day after broadcast; local live CBS station where available | Includes downloads and mostly ad-free on-demand viewing; live television still contains ads |
Paramount+ is a subscription service and does not require a cable subscription. The brand page describes it as a subscription video-on-demand and live-streaming service, with CBS, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, and other brands represented. It also says Premium includes SHOWTIME content and a local live CBS stream, while all subscribers can access CBS News Network and CBS Sports HQ. These brand-level descriptions do not guarantee a particular movie or show will be in the catalog.

How to choose without paying for the wrong access
- Name the exact title and season. A brand being included on Paramount+ does not guarantee a specific program is currently available.
- Decide whether you need live TV or on-demand episodes. Next-day CBS episodes and the live local CBS station are different features; the guide lists live local CBS on Premium where available.
- For MTV or Paramount Network, distinguish channel access from episodes. A participating TV provider is the stated route for the channels; Paramount+ and Pluto TV are listed for select episodes.
- For free viewing, search Pluto TV first. It is free, but verify the individual program and episode rather than expecting a complete network catalog.
- Confirm your market, device, and price. Live CBS access and sports can vary by market, supported devices vary, and plan pricing may change.
