Apple TV is the streaming service; the Apple TV app is the software used to access it. The app can also present other services and content for separate rental or purchase, so seeing a title in the app does not necessarily mean it is part of the Apple TV subscription.

Apple’s service FAQ says the subscription includes Apple Originals and selected sports content, but not third-party subscription services or content available for separate rental or purchase in the app. Apple says the service has no ads.

As displayed on Apple’s pages on October 7, 2026, the US offer is $14.99 per month after a seven-day free trial, while the UK catalog page displays £9.99 per month after a seven-day trial. Apple identifies several ways a viewer may get access or change the effective cost:
- Apple TV is included with Apple One.
- The Apple Music Student Plan includes access to Apple TV.
- Qualifying Apple TV 4K purchases may include three months of Apple TV. Apple says an eligible recent hardware offer should appear in the Apple TV app when you sign in with the Apple account associated with the purchase.
These options have eligibility and local terms. Confirm the current offer details rather than assuming a particular plan or purchase qualifies.

How to decide whether to subscribe
- Check the shows you actually want. Confirm that the Apple Originals you plan to watch are in the service, rather than merely listed in the Apple TV app for a separate rental, purchase, or third-party subscription.
- Compare the local recurring price. Use the price shown for your country and account, and note when any trial ends.
- Check for an existing route to access. Apple One, the Apple Music Student Plan, or an eligible hardware offer may already provide access or change the cost.
- Consider household use. Apple says a subscription can be shared with up to five family members.
- Check your device before buying hardware. If your current TV, streaming device, console, phone, or computer supports the app—or you can watch in a browser—you may not need a dedicated Apple TV 4K.
