In the United States, the latest surfaced listing places The Long Walk (2025) on HBO Max, HBO Max Amazon Channel, and the Starz Apple TV channel. The same listing shows digital rental or purchase through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home. That listing was checked September 29, 2026, so confirm the title and the access tier before you start watching. Outside the U.S., availability has not been established here.

If you want another Stephen King adaptation afterward, choose by mood rather than by an assumed ranking: Carrie (1976) is supernatural coming-of-age horror, Misery (1990) is a contained psychological thriller, The Shawshank Redemption (1994) is a human drama, The Green Mile (1999) is supernatural drama, and Doctor Sleep (2019) combines supernatural horror with a continuation of The Shining.

Where to stream The Long Walk in the U.S.

The most recent U.S. availability listing available for this guide, checked September 29, 2026, names three subscription-channel options:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Listing Access type What to know
HBO Max Streaming subscription The listing identifies the film as available to stream, but the included plan or tier should be confirmed in the service interface.
HBO Max Amazon Channel Channel subscription through Amazon This is a channel add-on rather than automatically the same entitlement as a standard Amazon membership.
Starz Apple TV channel Channel subscription through Apple TV Access depends on the Starz channel subscription attached to the Apple TV account.

The listing also names three transactional storefronts. These are separate from subscription streaming and normally present a rental or purchase choice at checkout:

Storefront Access type Best for
Amazon Video Digital rental or purchase Viewers who want a one-time transaction through Amazon’s video storefront.
Apple TV Store Digital rental or purchase Viewers who prefer to keep the transaction in the Apple TV ecosystem.
Fandango At Home Digital rental or purchase Viewers looking for another U.S. digital storefront.

Prices, rental windows, purchase terms, video quality and device support can change independently on each service. The availability result establishes the service names and access categories, not a fixed price or a permanent catalog position.

What the film is, and why the date matters

The Long Walk is the 2025 film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel of the same name. Stephen King’s official film information identifies Francis Lawrence as director and JT Mollner as screenwriter, and gives the film’s release date as September 12, 2025.

That date distinguishes this title from older King adaptations and from any similarly named book, episode or home-video listing. When searching a service, include the year “2025” if more than one result appears. A listing that shows only a generic title without the year should be checked for its director or release information before you press play.

How to verify the listing before you pay

Streaming catalogs and channel rights are changeable. Use this short check whenever you are ready to watch:

  1. Set the correct country. The availability result described here is U.S.-specific. A service may show a different catalog after detecting another country, while a virtual location or travel connection can produce an inaccurate result.
  2. Search the exact title and year. Enter The Long Walk and confirm that the result identifies the 2025 film adaptation.
  3. Read the access label. Look for wording such as “included with subscription,” “channel,” “rent” or “buy.” A search result that mentions a service does not by itself tell you which of those options applies.
  4. Open the title page. Check the service’s own detail page for the current plan, channel requirement, rental period and purchase terms.
  5. Check the account that will watch it. A channel subscribed through Amazon or Apple TV may be available only in that account’s apps and supported devices.
  6. Confirm immediately before checkout. Rights can change between a search and payment, especially when a listing is several weeks or months old.

If a service shows the film but will not play it

  • Confirm that your subscription is active and includes the named channel, rather than only the base platform.
  • Sign out and back in to the account that holds the subscription or purchase.
  • Update the app and try the service’s web player or another supported device.
  • Check parental controls, household restrictions and playback-region settings.
  • If the title page offers only a rental or purchase, treat that as a transactional listing even if a search engine labels the service as a streaming provider.

What about Hulu?

A Hulu title page surfaced for the film identifies The Long Walk, but the available excerpt does not make clear whether viewing is included with Hulu or requires a separate add-on. It is therefore not a confirmed standalone Hulu streaming option in this guide. If Hulu is your preferred service, open the title page while signed in and inspect the entitlement shown at the point of playback; do not assume that the presence of a title page means the film is included in your existing plan.

Subscription streaming versus renting or buying

The three streaming entries and three digital-store entries answer different needs. A subscription channel can make sense when you already pay for the service and expect to watch other titles there. A rental or purchase can be simpler when you want one film without adding a recurring channel fee.

  • Choose subscription access when the film is included in a service you already maintain, you plan to watch other programming there, and the account works on your viewing device.
  • Choose a rental when you want a single viewing window and do not need a permanent digital entitlement.
  • Choose a purchase when you want the title associated with a storefront account for later viewing, subject to that storefront’s licensing and device rules.

Because the available evidence does not provide current prices or rental-window lengths, compare those details on the checkout screen rather than relying on an older search result.

Which Stephen King adaptation should you watch next?

Stephen King’s official video catalog supports the following screen works. They are editorial choices by viewing mood, not an official ranking and not a claim that one film is universally better than another.

Title Year Choose it when you want… Format or mood
Carrie 1976 A story centered on supernatural coming-of-age horror. Supernatural horror
Misery 1990 A tightly focused psychological thriller. Contained suspense
The Shawshank Redemption 1994 A human drama rather than a supernatural horror film. Drama
The Green Mile 1999 Supernatural elements blended with an emotional drama. Supernatural drama
Doctor Sleep 2019 Supernatural horror that follows on from The Shining. Horror sequel and continuation

Pick Carrie for supernatural coming-of-age horror

Carrie (1976) is the clearest choice if you want a King adaptation whose central identity is supernatural coming-of-age horror. It is a useful follow-up when you want to move from the severe premise of The Long Walk to a story built around adolescence and supernatural fear. The catalog information confirms the title and year; it does not establish a current streaming service, so check each service separately.

Pick Misery for a contained psychological thriller

Misery (1990) suits viewers who prefer psychological pressure and a confined thriller structure. Select it when the appeal of your next film is sustained suspense rather than a broad supernatural setting. Its inclusion in Stephen King’s official video catalog confirms it as a screen adaptation, but current platform availability is not established here.

Pick The Shawshank Redemption for human drama

The Shawshank Redemption (1994) is the option for a human drama. It offers a deliberate change of tone from horror-oriented choices and demonstrates that King’s screen adaptations are not limited to supernatural stories. Use the title and year when searching, then verify the service’s current rights in your country.

Pick The Green Mile for supernatural drama

The Green Mile (1999) combines supernatural material with drama. It is a good bridge if you want emotional storytelling while retaining an element beyond ordinary realism. The official catalog supports the film as a King screen work; it does not provide a current streaming listing for this guide.

Pick Doctor Sleep for a continuation of The Shining

Doctor Sleep (2019) is the choice when you want supernatural horror and a follow-on to The Shining. It is the only recommendation in this set explicitly framed as a continuation, so it is best saved for viewers who want that connection rather than a standalone change of mood. Confirm availability independently; the title’s presence in the official catalog is not a promise of a particular platform.

A practical watch-order decision tree

  1. Want the closest tonal move toward supernatural horror? Start with Carrie.
  2. Want suspense without a supernatural emphasis? Choose Misery.
  3. Want a non-horror human drama? Choose The Shawshank Redemption.
  4. Want supernatural elements with a dramatic focus? Choose The Green Mile.
  5. Want a King-universe continuation? Choose Doctor Sleep, after deciding whether you also want to revisit The Shining.

This is a mood-based route, not a required sequence. None of these films needs to be watched as a formal sequel to The Long Walk.

Read the source novel after watching

The film is adapted from Stephen King’s novel The Long Walk. Reading the novel afterward gives you a direct way to compare the source with the 2025 screen version without assuming that the two formats use identical structure, emphasis or pacing. The official film information establishes the adaptation relationship; it does not establish a particular retailer, stock status or price for the book. Search your preferred bookseller or library catalog for the exact title and author.

Availability limits to keep in mind

  • The named streaming services reflect a U.S. listing checked September 29, 2026, not a guarantee for another country.
  • Catalog rights can change, and a channel listing may require an add-on subscription even when the host app is free to open.
  • The Hulu result confirms a title page, not included access.
  • No current platform was established for the five follow-up adaptations, so their inclusion above is a viewing recommendation, not a streaming claim.
  • Rental, purchase and subscription terms should be read on the service’s current title page before payment.
