What order should you watch the Carrie movies in?
Release order is the simplest choice if you plan to watch all four movie adaptations. It preserves the connection between the original and its sequel, while making clear that the later films are separate retellings.

- Carrie (1976): Brian De Palma’s film starring Sissy Spacek. It is the original movie adaptation, known for its prom sequence and split-screen style. JustWatch’s US guide identifies it as the starting point.
- The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999): A sequel to the 1976 film, centered on Rachel Lang, Carrie’s half-sister. It is not another version of the original story. The US guide and UK guide identify the sequel relationship.
- Carrie (2002): A television-film retelling starring Angela Bettis. It was developed from a version intended as a television-series pilot, according to the UK guide.
- Carrie (2013): Kimberly Peirce’s feature-film retelling starring Chloë Grace Moretz, also listed as a remake in the UK guide.
The 2002 and 2013 movies do not continue the 1976 film’s plot. If you only want one adaptation, choose by era or format rather than expecting a single continuous storyline; the available information does not establish one objectively best version.

The checked UK listing showed Prime Video, MUBI, and MUBI Amazon Channel, as well as Prime Video with ads. Carrie (2002) in the United States
The US JustWatch page accessed October 4, 2026, listed Prime Video, fuboTV, MGM+ options, and Philo, along with free ad-supported listings for VIX, YouTube Free, and Tubi. It also showed Kanopy, Hoopla, and Fawesome as free streaming options. Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home appeared for rental or download, with DVD and Blu-ray purchase listings. Check the US listing for current offers and terms.
Carrie (2013) in the United States
The US listing accessed October 4, 2026, showed Prime Video, Philo, AMC+ and associated channels, plus YouTube Free with ads. Rental or transactional options included Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, Fandango At Home, and Spectrum On Demand; download and DVD/Blu-ray purchase listings also appeared. Availability and offer type can change; check the US listing before choosing a service.
How to check the right version and offer
- Search your country’s streaming catalog for Carrie and include the release year. This helps distinguish the 1976, 2002, and 2013 films, which share a title.
- Confirm the page identifies the film you want, especially before renting or buying.
- Read the offer label: a subscription listing, an ad-supported stream, a rental, a digital purchase, and a physical disc are different ways to watch.
- For a physical copy, verify the edition and exact film year, as well as regional compatibility and current stock.
