For a classic maze game in a browser, try Google’s archived PAC-MAN 30th Anniversary Doodle first; if it does not play in your browser, Pacmanonline.org’s browser recreation explicitly says it is free and needs no download. The recreation is unofficial. Bandai Namco also offers a free browser-based PAC-MAN sustainability quiz, but it is not the classic maze game.

Try Google’s archived PAC-MAN Doodle
The Doodle is the closest official browser option in this list to the familiar maze game. Google Doodler Marcin Wichary described it as interactive and invited visitors to click the Doodle to play. The page dates its launch to May 21, 2010, so treat it as an archived option rather than a guarantee of current compatibility.

Use the unofficial browser recreation if you need an explicit no-download option
Pacmanonline.org’s game page says its recreation is free to play in a browser with no download or sign-up. It lists arrow-key controls and swipe controls, making it usable with a keyboard or touchscreen. The site explicitly says it is unofficial and not affiliated with Bandai Namco, so do not mistake it for the publisher’s own game.
Choose the official quiz only if you want a themed variation
Bandai Namco’s PAC-MAN Sustainable Quiz is an official free browser game for families, but its focus is answering sustainability questions in a PAC-MAN setting. It is not a substitute for the classic maze experience. The page recommends current browsers on specified desktop and mobile operating systems and notes that data charges may apply.

Why PAC-MAN 99 is not a current free online choice
Bandai Namco says PAC-MAN 99’s online service ended on October 8, 2023. The game’s remaining offline modes are tied to owners of paid add-on content, so it does not meet the goal of finding a current free online browser game.

If you want to avoid installing anything, start with the archived Doodle and use the recreation only if you are comfortable with an unofficial site.
