What if the account details are unavailable?
Cash App says you need a Cash App Card to access these details. To order one in the app, tap Money, choose Get your free card or Design a new card, tap Continue, and follow the in-app steps. Labels may vary as the app changes; follow the options currently shown in Cash App.
What the account number is used for
Use the account number together with the routing number when a payer asks for your Cash App direct deposit details. Cash App says people most commonly use them to set up employer direct deposit. Its stated uses also include government payments, such as tax refunds and unemployment benefits, and other electronic deposits and withdrawals.

Cash App’s Terms of Service, last updated June 4, 2026, say that payments from an employer or other source may be directed to a Cash App Balance using the routing and account numbers provided through its Direct Deposit program. Cash App describes itself as a financial-services platform, not a bank; the numbers are provided under that program.
Use the details only in the payment setup that asks for them
Enter the account and routing numbers in the employer’s or payer’s direct-deposit setup process. Do not confuse them with the number used for peer-to-peer payments, and do not post or send your account details publicly.
