Run a loop through the clusters at Unthawable Lake (-199, 249), Research Unit Tower (-134, 575), and Pristine Snow Field (-420, 461). What Pure Quartz is used for
Pure Quartz is an advanced crafting material found mainly in icy parts of Palworld. It is required for Circuit Boards and other late-game recipes, so demand rises as you begin building higher-tier equipment and facilities.
You cannot buy Pure Quartz from merchants or craft it from another material. The practical sources are mining surface deposits, assigning Mining-suitable Pals to a Pure Quartz Quarry, and obtaining it through expeditions or the Pure Quartz Mine. Mining deposits is the only option available before the quarry is unlocked.

The Astral Mountains route is the strongest manual option because it combines several named clusters. However, no cited source provides a controlled minutes-per-run test. “Fastest” therefore depends on deposit density, your travel time, cold resistance, mining damage and whether you count setup time for automation.
How to farm the Astral Mountains efficiently
1. Prepare for the cold before leaving
Equip cold-resistant armor before entering the Astral Mountains. A route that looks productive on the map is not efficient if environmental damage forces you to retreat, consume recovery items or abandon deposits. Travel capability matters as much as the number of nodes because the three recommended points are spread across the snowy region.
2. Start at a cluster, not an isolated node
The mining reference describes groups of five to ten deposits as efficient targets for bulk gathering. Clusters reduce the time spent moving between nodes and make area attacks more valuable. If a single deposit is far from the others, leave it for a later pass unless you are already nearby.
3. Use the three-stop loop
- Unthawable Lake (-199, 249): The current farming guide identifies a nine-node cluster here. It is a strong first stop when you want a concentrated haul.
- Research Unit Tower (-134, 575): The guide describes this area as high density. Add it to the same run rather than treating it as an isolated destination.
- Pristine Snow Field (-420, 461): The guide describes this location as comparatively low activity. Use it as a quieter supplementary stop or as part of a loop that fits your travel path.
A reference yield of 38 Pure Quartz per node means nine fully yielding nodes at Unthawable Lake would represent 342 units mathematically. That figure is a per-node reference calculation, not a guaranteed timed-run result; travel, combat, node availability and game conditions determine what you actually collect.

4. Return on a repeatable circuit
Choose an order that matches your nearest fast-travel point and avoids unnecessary backtracking. The sources identify the three locations and their relative density, but do not establish a universal route time. Your fastest circuit is the one that minimizes detours while keeping your character and Pals safe.
Mining methods and the tools that matter
Mining Level 3 Pals
Pure Quartz is listed as a Mining Level 3 resource. Bring a Pal with Mining Level 3 suitability for direct work on deposits, or assign Mining-suitable Pals when operating a base. The suitability level is the important requirement; no single mandatory species for quartz mining is specified.

You can attack deposits with mining tools yourself. This is useful when you need the initial 100 Pure Quartz for a quarry or when a base has not yet been established. Keep your carry capacity in mind: a successful high-density run can fill inventory space quickly, forcing an early return even when deposits remain.
Pal attacks and area damage
Pals can attack deposits directly. The mining reference specifically recommends Mammorest’s Earth Impact for area-of-effect utility against clustered deposits. It also describes using a Mammorest Saddle and rotating Mammorest Pals as a way to speed manual mining. This is a mechanics recommendation, not a measured time trial, so treat it as an option to test against your own team and travel setup rather than a guaranteed best build.

Prioritize density over isolated convenience
- Clear a five-to-ten-node group before detouring to a lone deposit.
- Use area attacks only where deposits are close enough for the effect to hit several targets.
- Bring a Mining Level 3 Pal even when you plan to use tools; it gives you a second way to clear nodes and helps when durability or stamina becomes a problem.
- Keep a return route in mind so a full inventory does not turn the final part of the run into wasted travel.
Early-game option: Mossanda Forest
If you do not yet have cold-resistant armor or reliable northern travel, use the Mossanda Forest location around (211, -133). The current farming guide presents it as a safer progression bridge, not as the definitive endgame hotspot.
Mine there while you prepare for the Astral Mountains. Once cold protection, a suitable Mining Pal and dependable travel are available, shift your regular runs north. This approach avoids spending more time surviving the environment than actually collecting quartz.
Automating Pure Quartz with the Quarry
Unlock requirements
The Pure Quartz Quarry becomes available at Technology tier 52 after you defeat the Pal Genetic Research Unit Tower. The construction cost is:

The 100-quartz requirement is the reason automation does not remove the need for an initial manual trip. Farm a cluster in the Astral Mountains first, then spend that stock on the quarry.

Build and staff it
- Open the Technology menu and reach tier 52.
- Defeat the Pal Genetic Research Unit Tower so the Pure Quartz Quarry is available.
- Collect 70 Stone, 100 Pure Quartz, 30 Paldium Fragments and 10 Ancient Civilization Parts.
- Enter a base area governed by a Palbox and place the quarry there.
- Assign Pals with Mining suitability to the base so they can operate the quarry.
- Place a chest or other storage container close to the quarry. The quarry reference recommends nearby storage because Transporting Pals spend less time carrying material over long distances.
The available evidence confirms that the quarry produces Pure Quartz when staffed, but does not state a production rate. Do not plan around a specific number of units per minute unless your own game version displays one.

Keep the quarry, Palbox and storage within a compact working area. Shorter carrying paths reduce idle movement and make it easier to notice when a Mining Pal has stopped working. Reserve enough room for the Pals to reach the quarry and for additional storage as your recipes consume more quartz.
Automation is most useful when you need a continuing supply for Circuit Boards and other advanced recipes. It does not make a one-time emergency haul instantaneous: the base must be unlocked, paid for and staffed before production begins.

There is no source-backed universal ranking in minutes. A manual Astral Mountains run can beat an unprepared quarry setup for an immediate batch, while a functioning quarry is more efficient over many crafting sessions because it works between expeditions.
Common problems and fixes
You cannot find quartz in the starting areas
Pure Quartz is concentrated in snowy and icy regions. Check the Astral Mountains coordinates rather than searching randomly in temperate zones. If the cold is too severe, use the Mossanda Forest alternative until your equipment improves.

You reach the deposits but mine too slowly
Use a Mining Level 3 Pal or mining tools, and focus on clusters instead of isolated nodes. The reference yield is 38 units per node, so clearing a group is generally more productive than spending the same travel time on scattered deposits.
You have enough materials but cannot build the quarry
Verify all three progression gates: Technology tier 52, victory over the Pal Genetic Research Unit Tower and the full material list. In particular, the quarry itself requires 100 Pure Quartz, so having stone and Paldium alone is not enough.
Your quarry produces slowly or appears idle
Check that Mining-suitable Pals are assigned to the base and that they can reach the quarry. Move storage closer so Transporting Pals do not spend most of their time carrying loads across the base. The available reference does not specify a fixed output rate, so judge performance by whether the assigned Pals are working rather than by an unsupported units-per-minute expectation.
You are carrying too much after a successful run
Plan a storage stop or return trip before starting the final cluster. A nearby container is especially useful when you operate a mining base, while manual routes should be planned around your inventory capacity and travel distance.
