The Haunted Key quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Haunted Mansion is a short chain of room puzzles: follow a ghostly fox for one fragment, solve the lion-and-lantern hunt for the other, combine them at the event crafting station, and then complete the mansion’s library and pillar puzzles. This guide gives the room landmarks, interaction order, bedroom pillar answer, rewards, and the optional basement route.
When the Haunted Mansion puzzles are available
Gameloft scheduled the Haunted Floating Festival for October 7 through October 31, 2026. You can reach the Haunted Floating Island through the portal in the Plaza or through the Event tab. The first Haunted Mansion puzzles unlock on October 7. The final mansion mystery, including Ghost Hunt content, unlocks on October 18, so some objectives may remain unavailable until that date.

The mansion is temporary event content. If you are reading this after October 31, 2026, the event may no longer be accessible unless Gameloft extends or reruns it. Room object positions are also capable of changing in an update; when a described object is not present, use the active event prompt and the mansion’s interactable highlights as the authority for your game version.

- Access to the Haunted Mansion on the Haunted Floating Island.
- A Royal Pickaxe for breaking the mansion’s stone lion statues.
- Access to the event crafting station for combining the fragments.
- No paid accessory, consumable, subscription, or separate puzzle item is required.
Gameloft labels the objective Find the Haunted Key as puzzle 6 in the mansion sequence. The hunt uses lion statues, chests, Jack-o’-Lanterns, and a ghostly fox. You must obtain two fragments before the bedroom doorway can be opened.

Haunted Key Fragment 1: follow the Ghostly “Zero” Fox
The first fragment is awarded for chasing the Ghostly “Zero” Fox through the Haunted House. A walkthrough-reported route has six stops. The fox itself is the best navigation cue, so look for it after each interaction rather than assuming every spawn is identical on every update.
- Back of the hallway: Start near the locked bedroom doorway at the far end of the hall.
- Front of the hallway: Follow the fox toward the entrance side of the same corridor.
- Main entrance room: Find it beside the sparkling book.
- Storage-room entrance: Enter the storage room from the left side of the main room and continue the chase.
- Main-room crafting area: The fox appears beside the crafting table.
- Back-left storage corner: Finish near the red chest in the rear-left corner of the storage room.
After the final stop, the game awards one Haunted Key Fragment. The six positions above come from walkthrough coverage rather than Gameloft’s event announcement, so a patch can move a stop. If the fox disappears, leave and re-enter the indicated room, check both sides of the shelves and furniture, and follow any active objective marker before searching elsewhere.
Haunted Key Fragment 2: lion statue, red chest and four lanterns
The second fragment combines several interactions. Gameloft confirms the overall pattern—break the correct lion statue, open a chest, and light Jack-o’-Lanterns—while the following object placements are walkthrough-reported.
- Break the right-hand white lion: In the hallway, use the Royal Pickaxe on the white lion statue on the right-hand side. This produces a Red Festival Key.
- Open the red chest: Use the Red Festival Key on the red chest associated with the hallway/storage-room route. The chest contains lantern candles.
- Collect candles: Search around the storage room and nearby chests for the candle pickups. Interact with every candle the event marks as collectable.
- Light four Jack-o’-Lanterns: Find the four unlit Jack-o’-Lanterns in the mansion and use the collected candles on each one.
- Claim the reward: Lighting all four lanterns grants the second Haunted Key Fragment.
Exact statue, chest, candle, and lantern placements are not fixed in Gameloft’s announcement and may be update-sensitive. If one of the listed objects is missing, check the event objective text, look for an unlit pumpkin in adjoining rooms, and make sure the correct white lion—not another decorative statue—was struck.

Combine the fragments and unlock the bedroom
- Open the event crafting station inside the Haunted Mansion.
- Switch to the Events category.
- Select both Haunted Key Fragments and craft the Repaired Haunted Key.
- Walk to the locked doorway at the end of the mansion hallway.
- Use the repaired key on the door to open the Bedroom.
The repaired key is the item described in community item references; Gameloft’s announcement calls the destination the Bedroom. Once the door opens, the library and pillar objectives become available as part of the mansion’s remaining puzzle path.
Haunted Library: place each book in the correct room
The Haunted Library sequence asks you to carry four named books between rooms. Pick up each title when you find it, then place it in the destination room shown below. The final placement reveals an event memory puzzle, while Gameloft describes the broader library objective as shelving spooky books to uncover the mansion story and earn a Chomping Chest.

Carry books one at a time if the game does not allow multiple quest objects in your inventory. If a shelf does not accept a title, verify that you are standing in the destination room from the table, not at the room where you originally found it.

The bedroom contains four pillars whose symbols must be entered in a specific order. The clues are distributed through the mansion, so inspect the landmarks below before turning the pillars. A current walkthrough identifies these four locations and the resulting sequence.

The bedroom pillar order
Set the bedroom pillars from left to right, or according to the game’s numbered pillar labels, as:
Spiderweb → Cat → Bat → Witch Hat
The glowing orb images on the pillars can point toward nearby landmarks rather than showing the exact wall or crate position. Use the physical clues in the table to identify each symbol. Do not copy the answer from the outdoor Combination Pillar puzzle: it uses the same four symbols but a different sequence.
Claim the magic reward
- Confirm that the four bedroom pillars display Spiderweb, Cat, Bat, and Witch Hat in that order.
- Activate the completed pillar puzzle.
- Pick up the Lost Magic Page that appears near the pillars.
- Return the page to the nearby Grimoire or bookstand.
Returning the page completes this mansion objective and awards the Decorative Magic Seal.

Optional basement: find the hidden key
Gameloft teases a hidden key that opens a mysterious basement beneath the Haunted Mansion and promises another furniture item, but the official announcement does not name the key’s location or the item. A community event guide reports the following route:

- Enter the unlocked Bedroom after crafting and using the repaired Haunted Key.
- Find the stone lion to the right of the Grimoire or bookstand.
- Break that lion with the Royal Pickaxe.
- Collect the Eerie Basement Door Key from inside the statue.
- Leave the mansion and use the key on the exterior basement door beneath it.
The statue location and key name are guide-reported details, while the existence of an additional basement reward is the portion confirmed by Gameloft’s event announcement. If the lion does not break, finish the bedroom objective first and check that you are targeting the statue beside the bookstand rather than another decorative lion.
Troubleshooting clues that do not appear
The fox is not at the first hallway stop
Walk through the hallway from the locked bedroom toward the entrance and back again. The fox can move between stops only after the current interaction registers. Check beside the sparkling book, the crafting table, and the red chest before leaving the mansion.
The white lion gives no key
Use the Royal Pickaxe on the right-hand white hallway lion. Other lions are scenery or belong to later objectives. If the key does not drop, confirm that the event objective is active and that you have progressed far enough to begin the Haunted Key hunt.

A lantern cannot be lit
Collect the candle pickups around the storage room and chests first. Only unlit Jack-o’-Lanterns count; a pumpkin that is already glowing is not one of the four required targets. Search adjoining room edges if one pumpkin is hidden behind furniture.
The pillar solution appears wrong
Verify that you are in the Bedroom and not at the outdoor Combination Pillar. The bedroom solution is Spiderweb, Cat, Bat, Witch Hat. Recheck the clue landmarks, especially the back of the storage-room crate and the floor beneath the hallway lion.
The basement door does nothing
Make sure the Eerie Basement Door Key came from the lion beside the bedroom bookstand. The exterior door is separate from the bedroom entrance and will not respond to the repaired Haunted Key.
