Where do I find every Eternal Guard in Valor Mortis? The seven guards are hidden across The Battlefields, Fallen Village, Valley of Ashes, Caverns, Cursed Hollow, City of Orphans and the Fortress. Each encounter provides a Mysterious Stone Pyramid; collecting all seven creates the Mysterious Stone Slab, which you take to the Fortress to complete the Oathbound side quest and unlock the We Wear the Same Colours gold trophy.
The quest begins automatically after you defeat the first Eternal Guardsman. The guards are not missable, so you can revisit earlier areas after gaining the abilities needed for the harder routes.

The table uses the nearest lantern for each route. “No special ability stated” means the location instructions do not identify a gated power, not that combat or ordinary traversal is risk-free.

Where is the next Oathbound guard?
1. The Battlefields — Onslaught Arch
- Travel to the Onslaught Arch lantern.
- Backtrack to the fork and take the right-hand path around the camp.
- At the next fork, choose the left path.
- Destroy the growth blocking the wall with your pistol or rapier.
- Enter the passage to find the first Eternal Guard.
This is the first practical stop for the Oathbound quest. Defeating the guard starts the quest automatically if it has not already begun.

2. Fallen Village — Marketplace
- Start at the Marketplace lantern and turn around.
- Go through the wagon.
- Before reaching the shortcut, turn left.
- Use the growth-removal ability on the obstruction.
- Wall-run through the next section to reach the cave and the guard.
If the route seems blocked, the missing requirement is the growth-removal ability rather than a hidden switch.
3. Valley of Ashes — The Climb
- Use the lift beside The Climb lantern.
- Continue along the cliff and pass beneath the large bridge.
- At the route split, stay on the lower green path that follows the cliff.
- Do not take the route that climbs upward; the guard is reached from the lower branch.
4. Caverns — Old Mine
- Reach the lever and the movable crate in the Old Mine.
- Use the lever to raise the crate.
- Apply Stasis Transmutation to freeze the cogs.
- Stand on the crate while the mechanism is held in place.
- Release Stasis so the crate rises.
- Jump from the raised crate to the upper platform, where the guard is waiting.
Stasis Transmutation is essential here. Without it, the crate mechanism cannot hold the position needed for the jump.

5. Cursed Hollow — Village Church
- Travel to the Village Church lantern and use the shortcut, or reach the church naturally through story progress.
- Cross the open fields, keeping slightly to the left.
- Go around the hay.
- Look behind the house to find the guard.
6. City of Orphans — Shamble Street
- Start at Shamble Street and use the gate shortcut.
- Enter the area containing the tall enemies.
- Cross the poison using Shield Transmutation.
- Follow the alley through the building.
- Turn left at the opened route to reach the guard.
Shield Transmutation is obtained later in the story. If the poison crossing is stopping progress, leave the area and return after that ability is unlocked.

7. Fortress — Courtyard
- Begin at the Courtyard.
- Go through the arch on the left.
- Follow the main route and defeat the red-eyed enemy.
- Loot the dead Eternal Guardist on the floor to obtain the final pyramid.
This is not a standard duel. The seventh “guard” is already dead, so the required interaction is looting the body after dealing with the red-eyed enemy.

What abilities do I need to reach the Eternal Guards?
- Growth removal: needed for the Onslaught Arch wall passage and the Marketplace route.
- Wall-running: needed to cross the section after the Marketplace obstruction and reach the cave.
- Stasis Transmutation: required for the Old Mine crate, cog and upper-platform puzzle.
- Shield Transmutation: required to cross the poison in City of Orphans.
The guides identify Stasis Transmutation for Old Mine and Shield Transmutation for Shamble Street as progression gates. Because all seven guards remain available after the main story, you can collect the earlier pyramids first and return when a later ability opens the remaining route.

- Defeat or loot all seven Eternal Guard encounters and collect every Mysterious Stone Pyramid.
- Once the seventh pyramid is obtained, the pieces combine into the Mysterious Stone Slab.
- Return to the Fortress.
- Enter the Fortress’s hidden chamber.
- Read the Codex of the Oathbound.
Reading the codex completes the quest and awards the We Wear the Same Colours gold achievement or trophy. If the quest does not complete, verify that the Fortress corpse was looted and that all seven pyramids are in your inventory before entering the hidden chamber.

Common route problems
- A blocked passage in an earlier area: check whether the growth-removal ability is unlocked, then revisit the Marketplace or Onslaught Arch route.
- The Old Mine platform cannot be reached: Stasis Transmutation must freeze the cogs while you stand on the raised crate.
- Poison prevents access in City of Orphans: return after obtaining Shield Transmutation.
- No boss appears at the Fortress: the final encounter is a corpse-looting objective, not a normal fight. Defeat the red-eyed enemy and search the body.
- The quest marker seems absent: the Oathbound quest starts after the first Eternal Guardsman is defeated, and the guards can be completed later without being permanently missed.
