Why is a Lens search missing?
A missing image does not by itself mean Lens malfunctioned. Google says Visual Search History is off by default, and eligible images are saved only under the applicable conditions. Check these possibilities:

- Visual Search History was off: searches made while saving was disabled may not be in the account’s saved visual history.
- You used a different Google Account, or were signed out: check the account you had selected at the time of the search.
- The service or app version was not eligible: Google lists Lens in the Google app on Android, iPhone, and iPad; Lens App; Circle to Search on Android; and Quick Search Box and All Apps Tray on Android. Some app or device versions may not save images.
- Availability differs: Google notes that Visual Search History may not be available for some account types or locales.
- You are looking in a different history area: check Web & App Activity and, if available, Search Services History.

Can I check Lens history in the Google app?
A Google Search Community Product Expert’s guide, last edited August 16, 2024, describes opening the Google app, tapping the Lens icon, and then selecting a clock or history icon in the upper-right corner. This is a version-sensitive shortcut, not the primary documented account-history route. If you do not see the icon, use Data & privacy → Web & App Activity → Manage all Web & App Activity instead. How do I delete saved Lens history?
In Web & App Activity or My Activity, Google provides options to delete an individual activity item, activity from a day, a custom date range, or all time. Review the selected items and date range before confirming deletion. Google Account Help: Manage your Google data with My Activity
Google says deletion first removes activity from view and may stop it being used to personalize your Google experience. It then begins a process designed to delete the data from storage systems; some data may be retained longer for limited business or legal requirements. Google also offers general Web & App Activity auto-delete choices of 3, 18, or 36 months. These are account-setting intervals, not a guarantee that every Lens image remains saved until that interval: Google says saved images may be deleted sooner when they are no longer needed to develop and improve services that use visual search technologies. How do I stop future Lens images from being saved?
Open Data & privacy → Web & App Activity and turn off Visual Search History. Some interfaces label the control Include Visual Search History. This stops eligible visual-search images from being saved as part of Web & App Activity going forward; it does not disable Lens searching.
Turning off Visual Search History does not delete images already saved, and Google says previously saved images may still be used to improve visual technologies unless you delete them. It also does not turn off Web & App Activity as a whole, so other search activity may continue to be saved according to those controls. Google: Manage your Visual Search History in your settings

What else can appear in Search Services History?
Search Services History can include saved media such as Google Lens images. It may also show thumbnails of images or videos you viewed in My Activity. Google says those thumbnails are not themselves saved media and are not covered by the Save Media subsetting. Visual Search History concerns images; broader Web & App Activity settings can govern other search activity.
